Police make third arrest in connection to killing of Anisa Scott

Madison police have arrested a third teen in connection with the killing of 11-year-old Anisa Scott. 17-year-old Jerry Ward on Wednesday afternoon. Wahl said Ward was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest. Ward is also tied to the looting on State Street in May.

We Stand With Madison Police adds this:

17-year old Jerry Ward was out on a signature bond from a March case for possession with intent to distribute THC and possession of drug paraphernalia. When arrested he was armed with a gun, which being out on felony bail, is very much illegal.
By no means is selling weed the crime of the century, but yet again, we see a suspect released on no bond / low bond who commits another offense that devastates innocent people in our community.
At some point we have to ask – are we really doing offenders a favor by not punishing them for lower level offenses? This man escalated his level of criminality, and depending on his involvement in this murder, could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Amen! This is why Broken Windows policing works!

Was there ever a mug shot that so plainly cried, “Unmet needs”?

Look up his father’s criminal history on the Wisconsin courts website. The apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.

It’s going to be an interesting Saturday night up in the Dane County Jail. The 3 murderers might not want to be in the T.V. room if Anisa’s funeral is on. My hope is that they get a nice dose of “jail justice.” But I’m sure they will be segregated and that is too bad.
