For Christmas from the merry elves on County Board: Dane County will be a ‘Safe Space’

teddy-bearTo be certain, a very cold place. But at least Dane County will be a safe place. Safe from intolerance, hatred, and discrimination. Safe for all, including refugees, strangers, outcasts and (one presumes) strange outcasts. Some of whom, judging by Resolution #448, serve on the Dane County Board.

The Dane County Board affirms our deep and abiding commitment to the democratic ideals of inclusion, celebration of diversity, and mutual responsibility toward one another. We pledge to stand against intolerance, hatred, and discrimination. We declare Dane County to be a safe space for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, absence of religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or immigration status. We welcome the refugee, the outcast, the stranger among us.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Dane County Board looks to all our residents to join together in the spirit of community to stand against hate, racism, and misogyny, and to stand together in mutual respect, support, and love, because — while we face great challenges as a community — we will face them together, as together we move forward.

A Miss America pageant contestant could not have said it better!

This gaily wrapped popcorn ball was introduced at the County Board meeting of 12-15-16 by Supv. Michelle Ritt. * (She represents Madison’s Cherokee neighborhood and far NE side). Will the proposed resolution face heated floor debate at a future session? Will the call for inclusion and diversity survive disabling amendments submitted by the proponents of hate? An anxious county, clutching teddy bears to hearts, awaits the verdict.

Leaving aside the snark, there is no law preventing this legislative juvenilia. Only (in my day, at least) self-respect and intellectual integrity.

safe-spaceBack in the day, panicked over that warmonger Ronald Reagan, the City of Madison pronounced itself a nuclear free zone. (Then again, the Emerald City has avoided all nuclear bombs fired its way.)

Resolution #448 is another symptom of the hysteria gripping greater Madison WI since November 8. Our liberal-progressive-socialist acquaintances are convinced that the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse — hate, racism, misogyny, and Trump — are riding roughshod in the land. Ironically, this hyper-sensitivity has given leave to silence dissent (aka “hate speech”).

David French in National Review:

“Only in the fever swamp imagination of the race-obsessed Left can a white man [defeat] a white woman and the reason is racism. Yet that is emerging for some as the explanation for 2016. The campaign wasn’t about Obama’s policies, or Hillary’s corruption, or Trump’s massive celebrity. It wasn’t about the threat of Islamic terror or the declining prospects of the white working class. It was about white supremacy.”

Hey kids! —  If you’re tired of looking at pictures of Donald Trump, there’s a Chrome extension for that. Make America Kittens Again is an extension you can add to your Google Chrome browser that automatically detects images of Trump on the web and changes them to photos of kittens.

Salov know better? He’s been a bleeding heart for years. Cmon Dave. Oh well, they can make all the resolutions they want. Meanwhile my acreage in Dane Co is not a safe place for anyone but those who have common sense, logic, a concealed carry permit, and a taste for good Bourbon.
