Child Neglect – 6:27 p.m. Officers responded to a west side residence regarding two children (11-year-old AAM and 9-year-old AAF) who reported they had not seen their mother for 24-hours. The children’s mother/suspect (30-year-old AAF) was contacted via phone and she advised she had been arrested in Chicago. Child Protective Services contacted. The children were placed with their grandmother. Charges may be forthcoming. Investigation continuing.
Strong Armed Robbery – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 7. Officers responded to Vernon Ave/Cottage Grove Rd for a report of a strong armed robbery. Officers made contact with two victims (25-year-old WM and 26-year-old WM) who reported that they arranged to meet a subject/suspect (15-year-old AAM) to sell a gaming console. The suspect asked to borrow the victim’s cell phone and during the process stole the gaming console. The suspect fled, the victim pursued him and the suspect tripped/fell. The suspect dropped the items and threatened to “pop a cap” as he reached into his waistband. K9 track attempted. Suspect at-large. Investigation continuing. — From Police Chief Koval.
