Next time, pick a villain who is unlikeable.
Donald Trump once said he could shoot some guy on Fifth Avenue and not lose any support. Rob Reiner is not that guy. A disciplined politician vilifies the right villains. Donald Trump picked someone even Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post calls “beloved.”

We do not share the Meathead’s progressive politics. He raised more than $4 million for Wisconsin Democrats to defeat Trump in 2020 by bringing the original cast together for a reading of his classic movie, The Princess Bride. Free speech. Above board. Match point.
In the last thrilling episode, we wondered which elected Republicans would tell their grudge-holding standard bearer, “Quiet, Piggy!” Because Trump is hurting his own cause. So far, a disappointing smattering. Profiles in courage Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie; the three panelists on Bret Baier’s Fox News Monday night. David Urban, a former Trump campaign adviser, called the comments “indefensible.” (Where have we heard that before?) Other than that? Bupkis.
Most are taking the counsel of an Always Trumper named Christopher Lawrence, who advises:
When Trump says something mean or unpresidential, his supporters don’t need to pile on. There’s already a massive media ecosystem dedicated to criticizing him. Sometimes the smartest response is silence.
“Silence”? Golden! Too bad Donald Trump didn’t think of it!
→ “President Trump should have said nothing.” — Sen. John Kennedy, R-LA
Cults always collapse
No, Christopher Lawrence, it is his supporters who absolutely DO NEED to “pile on” as you put it. If they are, indeed, his supporters who want their President to succeed. There are rumblings of unrest underneath the floor boards. Just a sampling from our social media feed:
Abbey R: When he’s wrong he’s wrong and I applaud his supporters for being willing to speak out about it. Not doing so (esp. when you disagree) just makes us look like the cult they think we are.
Hannah L: I feel like he needs to be held accountable for this kind of behavior. It destroys his character, credibility and any good he’s doing. It’s making me not even want to vote in 2028 and I’m pretty politically involved.
Mark W: Someone needs to take his phone away. He needs to be Presidential and he is his own worst enemy.
A true MAGA named Kris defended Trump’s post, “I think he spoke from his gut.” From the tail end of his gut, yes.
→ “Trump blames Rob Reiner for his own murder. Nauseating.”
→ “Mr. President, don’t mock the dead.” — Bari Weiss’ Free Press
→ “The most loathsome human being ever to occupy the White House.” — conservative columnist Bret Stephens
Blaska’s Bottom Line: If James Wood can find kind words for Rob Reiner and Mr. Reiner can find soothing words for Charlie Kirk then Donald Trump can just shut the fook up. Someone tell Trump he won.

As his Alzheimer’s progresses, he’ll keep digging and will refuse to give up his shovel until it is forcibly taken away. His comments have a bigger effect on his sycophants than they ever will on him. Their silence means assent. When someone tells you who they are, believe them.
“The Five” tied themselves in knots trying to smooth this over. Gutfeld looked like a fool. But on a lighter side Dementia Don did speak for ten minutes at his Xmas party about SNAKES. The best part was watching his wife’s face. Standing there staring and hoping a secret service agent would just shoot her in the head. All I want for Xmas is the 25th amendment. Don’s own Chief of Staff says he is deranged. Did we finally find a Republican with guts and no fear to speak the truth?
President Trump does what he does “best”, when talking about Rob Reiner without out a teleprompter Trump opens his mouth to change socks. Trumps mouth is a loose cannon and has been for years, I’m quite tired of it.
As for Rob Reiner; he was a great actor and director but his political views were so far out in left field that there was no hope of ever bringing him back to reality.
Dementia Don will address the nation tomorrow at 8pm. I can’t wait to see what kind of #$%^show this will be. Popcorn time.
OK Squire, you’ve convinced me. NOW I wish I’d voted for Kamala and Tim Walz.
Always the over-reaction. Afraid your red MAGA cap will be confiscated if you dare disapprove just once of something you would punish your children for saying?
Project much?
So do 80,000 Somalians.
