Shazam! Brittany Kinser could win top school job!

‘She’s certainly not a Trumpy Republican’

Political experts talk about the Bandwagon Effect. (So does Blaska.) Voters will vote for a candidate they believe will win — all other things being nearly equal.

They also say money is the mother’s milk of politics. Often true, but not always. Just the same, we take it as a favorable omen that Brittany Kinser has attracted more campaign donations than the failed incumbent WI superintendent of public instruction, Jill Underly.

Year to date, Kinser has harvested $2.46 million to Underly’s $1.15 million. Worse for the educrat Underly, she has but $99,000 cash on hand to finish out the final week before the April 1 election to reformer Kinser’s $890,000.

Kinser is picking up significant endorsements. A sampling:

 Dave Cieslewicz, former Madison mayor:

I’ve actually met Kinser. … I found her to be energetic and smart and she seems to truly care about kids … having worked as a special ed teacher in some of Chicago’s toughest public schools. She was once a teachers union member and an opponent of charter schools and vouchers. She came around after seeing those things in practice.

I pushed her on her political background and concluded that she’s sincere in describing herself as a sort of middle-of-the road Democrat. She’s getting a lot of Republican backing simply because she’s not the Democratic-backed Underly, but I don’t think Kinser’s a Republican and certainly not a Trumpy Republican. …

“Arbor Day” Grant Wood

 Kaleem Caire, school reformer:

After seeing Brittany in three forums and her determination to travel the state to meet parents, children, and community leaders where they are, and respond to tough questions, I am convinced she is the leader our state needs at this critical moment.

I am proud to join a cross-partisan group of African-American leaders … who have been stout champions for improving the education of children in our state and local communities: Dr. Howard Fuller, former superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools; Cory Nettles, former secretary of the WI Department of Commerce; attorney DeVona Wright Cottrell (an award-winning corporate lawyer and civic leader in Milwaukee); and John Daniels, retired chairman and managing partner of Quarles & Brady law firm.

 James Wigderson, proud RINO:

Underly couldn’t even get Milwaukee Public Schools to turn in their paperwork on time and has done nothing to fix MPS. Instead, Underly has watered down testing standards and has advocated keeping Milwaukee kids trapped in failing schools. But she wants the legislature to just cough up more money.

 Democrats for Education Reform:

The most recent scores on the Nation’s Report Card again show Wisconsin with the widest achievement gap in the U.S. for math and reading scores between white and black students.

The opposite of the Bandwagon Effect is the last-minute smear, a sure sign that Jill Under(handed)ly is losing. If you see her smear attack, Ms. Kinser advises: “The events it references occurred after I had departed the organization and I had no role in any of them. Period.”

Blaska’s Bottom Line: The Wisconsin State Journal devotes a full-page to the 54 top contestants in the statewide spelling bee contest. Not a single one of them from any of the Milwaukee public schools and only two from Madison’s.

When will progressives choose kids
over teachers unions?

All Jill Uderly wants is more money for public schools with no accountability for better education for students. She had to revise test scores so they don’t look so bad. For the past 50 years all I hear is ” if we just had more money the test scores and education would be better.” If elected maybe Brittany Kinser can bring Wisconsin K-12 schools into the 21st century without breaking the bank.

With the dept. of education torn up there’s no accountability for anyone. Trump and musk they even want to cut special ed funding. So there’s no bank to break bob. always yapping about black and white students. where are the stats on the Asians and other groups. Or doesn’t that fit your rant.

Not meant as a comment but as an encouragement: As Dept. of Education dollars begin streaming from Uncle Bureaucrat down to the states, campaigns such as yours will become more and more the norm. Please reach out to fellow Conservatives and tell the rest of us how to manage to reach a victory like you did.
