We are believers!

Who will milk our cows?

Grandpa and his milk stool are out to pasture.

Does anyone outside the MAGA cult believe that all illegal immigrants are — in the President’s own words — “killers, rapists, and drug dealers”? We stipulate: if you did not immigrate to the U.S. through proper channels, then you are (perforce) illegal. To the extent that immigration law went unenforced under previous presidents, America put out a de facto welcome mat. The door was open.

We RINOs are not afraid to say that illegal aliens are shingling our roofs, clearing our restaurant tables, and milking our cows.

We do not think Republicans can ignore the full-page advertisement in today’s Wall Street Journal addressed to the President from the Dairy Farmers of America. The farmer-owned cooperative asserts that dairy farms need immigrants to stay in business. Its 10,000-members “are in crisis not from drought or disease but from a persistent and deepening labor shortage that has reached a critical inflection point.”

Hutches protect young and susceptible dairy calves from contagion.

Farmers have skin in this game

Dairy Farmers of America is no Democratic front group. In the full-page ad, its president pays obeisance to the President. “I support your Administration’s focus and success in securing our borders, respect and appreciate the challenging role of law enforcement.”

We must distinguish between those who threaten our safety and those who have strengthened our nation. Many farm workers have lived in our rural communities for decades. They’ve raised families, paid taxes, contributed to local economies, and supported church and community events. They are more than valued employees.

When immigration enforcement diverts resources from apprehending dangerous criminals to detaining or removing entire families who have long been part of rural America … it not only disrupts these communities but also compromises the safety of all. — Dennis Rodenbaugh, CEO, Dairy Farmers of America

Immigrants account for just over half of all labor on dairy farms, according to the National Milk Producers Federation. Immigration experts estimate that roughly half of the more than two million people employed on farms are working in the U.S. illegally.

Problem is, current immigration law, the H-2A program, allows only seasonal or temporary work “which is inadequate for dairy operations that require skilled labor every day of the year,” Dairy Farmers of America observes.

 Farm country is MAGA country

Trump is not running for re-election. Derrick Van Orden is. The WI congressman put up a bill last week to permit undocumented farm workers to become legal but not citizens. They’d have to pay a fine and self-deport to their home country for 30 days. The employer would pay an as-yet undetermined “fee.”

Wisconsin’s iconic red barns have become historic relics. Dairy farms now milk hundreds of cows, sometimes three times a day, with highly specialized equipment operated by hourly paid crews working in shifts. On top of constant breeding, nutrient management, disease preventin, and environmentally sound manure handling. The Dairy Farmers plea comes three weeks after Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins suggested Medicaid recipients could replace deported farm workers.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Hardly jobs for “Medicaid recipients.” Self-deporting is no more realistic.

I’d die without my morning coffee and half and half, so hell yeah, let’s round up all the crims and put them to work raping and plundering cows. Kidding aside, you bring up a good point I think most people may not have considered. I’m not admitting to anything here though.

“… all illegal immigrants are — in the President’s own words — “killers, rapists, and drug dealers”?”

Do you even read your own links? The President/White House most certainly did not use the umbrella of ” all illegal immigrants”.

Wishful thinking on your part. Is Trump so good you have to make things up now? I suppose we should be grateful you didn’t drop “illegal” like the Democrats do. Still an outright lie. Do better.

As do I but the TDS runs deep in this one.

Nowhere does Trump acknowledge that many of his deportees are NOT killers, rapists, or drug dealers. “Convicted criminals make up less than half of ICE arrests under Trump. ICE has netted more criminals than under Biden, but also swept up many more non-criminal immigrants.” But in Trump’s own words, they’re all killers, rapists, and drug dealers.

You were doing great until the last sentence and the TDS kicked in again.

        Oh well… baby steps.

Do you think dairy farmers would have taken out a full page ad in today’s Wall Street Journal if their workers weren’t being deported? Is Trump honest enough to say, “Yeah, I’m deporting dairy workers, roof installers, and kitchen help.”?

          BTW: TDS works both ways.

Why are you being so obtuse?

Show me where he said “they’re all killers, rapists, and drug dealers.”. Of course he’s going to showcase the bad ones!

You seem to be under the impression I think Trump is a Saint. I don’t. But you are putting words in his mouth. They’re not Trump’s words, they’re Blaska’s!

        3. David Blaska Avatar

“Of course he’s going to showcase the bad ones” to hide the fact that he’s deporting the good ones, too. Are are the dairy farmers of Wisconsin wrong? Don’t be such a TDS shill!

        4. David Blaska Avatar

The question you avoid, TDS sufferer, is this: Should the dairy farmer’s help be deported? That simple

You’re just moving the goalposts DB. Again, what you claim are Trump’s words are in fact, YOUR words.

As to the dairy farmers is it really that simple a question? Yes there will be turmoil and we will have to pay higher prices but maybe we should. Don’t the farm workers who are here legally deserve a fair wage? Seems like exploiting illegal labor is not letting the market do its job.

What other industries could we flood with illegal workers to make things cheaper for us? I say City of Madison should prioritize hiring illegal workers to keep our taxes down. Do you agree?

        6. David Blaska Avatar

One Eye, read for comprehension. My very first link was to Trump’s own words on his White House website: “killers, rapists, and drug dealers.” That is how the President of the United States wishes you and fellow TDS sufferers to think and, by golly! like Pavlov’s dog, you salivate!

Truth of the matter is that American-born won’t do that work. Trust me on this: grew up on a dairy farm just as the industry was transitioning to large-scale milking parlors. Your prescription would make milk as expensive as a prime cut of beef and a rarity. (Consider also how many products, especially baked goods, contain milk as an ingredient.)

My point — and that of the dairy farmers — is to make those workers LEGAL. They came here when we left the door open, they worked and kept their noses clean, now you and Trump are treating them as criminals. As for keeping City of Madison taxes down — you might have the solution! Thank you!

Read your own words for comprehension DB! You made it sound as if Trump said all illegal immigrants were “killers, rapists and drug dealers”. Fake news from Blaska!

As for the farmers… they have a vested interest to fear monger. And they may be right but do you really think taking Trump to task in a newspaper is going to sway him?

Under my plan all the illegals working for the city and driving school buses (for minimum wage) will become legal too!

          Do you support my plan?

When I was a kid, the family owned 2 dairy farms in Rock County. I remember having “Hired Hands” available for employment to help out but I guess they have long since gone. As I understand it, it is not only latinos doing farm work, but Eastern Europeans as well. I can’t say I blame farmers (family type or corporate) for hiring those willing to do some of the back breaking work in farming.

But one can blame those dairy farmers who vote for their fürher who demonizes their employees. This is called hypocrisy, a human failing that you are apparently unable to grasp. A special place in hell is reserved for hypocrites who prey on the vulnerable.

Farmers in general and particularly in Wisconsin voted for Trump in droves. Now they’re singing the blues as their fürher begins deporting their immigrant workers. Perhaps they never thought that Trump would actually deport the millions that he demonizes so relentlessly. Perhaps they thought that the recently passed $170 billion increase for ICE and Border Protection in the Big Beautiful Bill (H.R. 1) was intended to buy Christmas presents for immigrant workers’ children. Farmers’ ritual “voters remorse” carries a whiff of 1930s Germany. Voters who took orgasmic pleasure from ganging up on the weak in November deserve no sympathy today.

    Solution is now obvious.

obviously not the old white guy who ran down a mother and killed a mother while she held a 1 year old in her arms. The old white guy who shot his daughter-in-law in the head may ok. He did have a maga hat with him.

Charlie Hurt from FSKE AND FRIENDS wants to bring back child labor. Get all the youngens in your family together, it’s time for the wagon to pick them up and give them a full day working on a farm. What fond childhood memories they will have for the rest of their lives. Unless they lose an arm in some machinery. But, that’s ok.

People shouldn’t be eating or drinking cows anyway. Clogs arteries. Humans are the only animals who consume the milk of another species. And agri-chem corporations responsible for additional bovine growth hormone in the milk supply are not helpful. Got milk? Sure as hell. Got cancer?
