Get your crayons out, kids!

Remember connect the dots? Growing up in the 1950s (we’ll pause here while you do the math) we had an entire soft-cover book of them. And we liked it that way!

In the spirit of Christmases past, the elves at the Werkes crafted a connect the dots game that is fun and instructive! For academic honors, schitz & giggles: Connect the dots on these headlines — the first three in today’s Wisconsin State Journal:

• “Madison schools Board debates honors classes”
• “Madison schools: Renaming Jefferson middle” school
• “Enrollment numbers to continue declining”
• “Board should give principal his job back”
• “What happens at fight club stays at East high school”

PARENTAL WARNING: This is going to be difficult. And depressing as hell! The Madison Metropolitan School District says so itself. Our public schools are experiencing “an increase in students open enrolling* [a new gerund?] out of the district — a complex set of factors that board members said will require complex solutions.” (* Open enrollment allows Madison residents to send their kids to another school district willing to accept them.)

Crayons ready? GO!

No Tr•mp Today!

• Those who followed Fauci in demanding our schools and restaurants be shut down are now praising the Chinese for rebelling against their authoritarian state Covid lockdown.

• California governor Gavin Newsom says he will not challenge Joe Biden if the President wants re-election. Neither would Bobby Kennedy challenge LBJ in 1968 — until Gene McCarthy had the moxie. Who will have the moxie this time around?

• Does anyone doubt that Herschel Walker is going to lose the Georgia senate race today? (Technically, not Tr•mp.)

• Badger QB Graham Mertz is entering the transfer portal into another dimension. Mertz was brilliant in his very first game against Illinois. Ohio State and other bigs wanted him. Is it possible Paul Chryst f-‘d him up?

• Best thing for Jim Leonhard: Be like Mertz — move on to a new opportunity to grow!

• If it’s called “cryptocurrency” doesn’t the name itself say it’s fake?

Blaska’s Bottom Line: The indentured servants at the Stately Manor might tune in soccer on their b&w Philco if the soccer gnomes of Zurich would lower the pitcher’s mound and move in the fences to produce more runs.

If Elon Musk isn’t the man of the year, who is?

If the repuks were smart they would run Kemp. But; smart is a very hard thing to find in their party right now.

    2. George Mitchell says:

Wasn’t his first game against Michigan?

    3. Gary L. Kriewald says:

‘Crypto’ derives from the Greek for secret or hidden. ‘Nuff said.

Whenever bureaucrats, elected or unelected, call a problem a “complex set of factors” that requires “complex solutions,” you know that a) the problem is simple to anyone with a modicum of common sense, and that b) the solution is simple if anyone is willing to apply common sense to it. In the case of MMSD, the complex set of factors is that it’s run by fanatical ideologues and the complex solution is to replace them with people who are actually serious about educating (as opposed to indoctrinating) students. Of course, this being Madison, the problem will never be identified and the solution will never be implemented. But at least the name of that infamous slave driver Jefferson will no longer assault the delicate sensibilities of those in charge of Madison’s schools. And just look at the wonders that resulted from rebranding James Madison Memorial HS: higher test scores, more attentive and engaged students, motivated teachers … oh, wait.

You left out the fact that more than half of all students now earn Advanced Placement credits, now that they’re free of the Madisonian oppression.

      • David Blaska says:

Exactly! It’s like “nuanced.” When someone says something is nuanced, he is trying to tell you that you don’t understand, but you do.

        • Gary L. Kriewald says:

“Problematic” is another one of their favorites. A term that means that something is a problem FOR THEM and so must be changed–immediately!

    4. A Voice in the Wilderness says:

Renaming Jefferson Middle School is hare-brained. Eleven streets in central Madison are named after signers of the U.S. Constitution who, in addition to Thomas Jefferson, ran slave-operated plantations or farms.

How long before some whackjobs at city hall decide to follow MMSD’s lead and rename those streets? Logistically it would be a nightmare.

      • Gary L. Kriewald says:

The street names are bad enough, but what about the name of our fair city? If some random black kid felt unbearably oppressed by having to attend a school named for Madison, what must the poor fragile soul feel about having to live in a city with the same name? The lunacy of Madison progressives if truly infinite. Logistics (and cost) mean nothing to them if the result is yet another opportunity for more tiresome virtue-signaling.

      • David Gerard says:

Jefferson was in Paris when the constitution was being written.

        • A Voice in the Wilderness says:

Thomas Jefferson was not a signer of the U.S. Constitution. It’s true he was in Paris on a diplomatic mission during ratification.

According to the National Park Service website, of the 39 delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787 eleven slave-holders have streets in Madison, WI named after them. They are: Bassett, Blair, Blount, Butler, Carroll, Jenifer, the two Pinckneys, Rutledge, Spaight, and Washington. Broom and Few were small farmers. As we know, Madison also owned slaves.

          • Gary L. Kriewald says:

Watch those street names fall like dominoes as soon as Madison lefties can scrounge up enough names of (deservedly) obscure black people to replace the names of the signers of the Constitution.

      • Cornelius_Gotchberg says:

For a sterling example of Lefty’s suffocating dimwittery, just take a look at the comment at the top of this post.

Anywho, regrettably, this staggering imbecility is a feature, not a bug, and is deeply ingrained in the despicable Lefty psyche; to wit:

Seven years ago nearly to the day, suffocating Lefty morons…er…students at Lebanon Community College (PA) got their Hempen Homespun in a bunch and demanded that ‘Lynch Memorial Hall,’ (named for LCV’s Depression era President Dr. Clyde A. Lynch) be renamed because (gasp!) the name Lynch might trigger bLack students.

And if there exists any possibility whatsoever that bLack students might possibly become triggered, despicable White Lefty students’ Messiah Complex immediately kicks in and they quickly succumb to the virulently, volatile vapors.

Now, just how mind-numbingly STOOPID was this?

Hopeless Changey’s AG at the time Loretta; recall her last name…?

Ah Lefty; so MUCH ignominy, so little time!

      What bullshit.

Just incredible that it never occurred to them to ask why families were pulling their kids out, right? Yeah, just a little too incredible.

They either did ask, and didn’t like the answers, or they already knew why they were leaving and didn’t need to ask.

I would bet large that the overwhelming majority reason was school safety; more specifically, the complete lack thereof. They throw out the cops based on nothing other than their perverse theories.

Are you telling me that all these families came in by the hundreds to leave the district, AND NEVER MENTIONED WHY?? BULLSHIT!!!

    6. Cornelius_Gotchberg says:

“Is it possible Paul Chryst f-‘d (Mertz) up?”

You’d be better off pondering if why FDR’s policies dragged the Great Depression out the better part of two (2) decades.

Anywho, Chryst’s reputation was that of an offensive guru/QB whisperer:
*He made a pedestrian Scott Tolzien a Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner
      *Oversaw Russell Wilson’s Lightin’-In-A-Bottle season
*Marshalled Joel Stave (who threw a great 15 yard pass to a guy 10 yards downfield) into the winningest Badger QB EVAH
*Got as much as he could out of (groan!) Alex Hornibrook as anyone.

      Then came Jack Coan.

After waiting in the wings as a FR-n-SO, his 1st start was a certifiable (35-3) @$$whuppin’ of The ‘Canes in the 2018 Pinstripe Bowl, following that up as a 2019 JR with 14 starts/236comps-339atts (69.6%)/2727yards/18 TDS-5 INTS and a 151.8 QBR…and that despite 2000+ yards rushing from a certain Jonathan Taylor.

Coan’s 2020 training camp season ending injury allowed Mertz to start as a redshirt FR; Chryst likely saw him as the future (who could blame him, he’d get better, right?) and suggested Coan get a fresh start elsewhere.

Anyone who saw what Coan did as a Golden Domer (2021-11-2/CFP #4 seed!), and what Mertz did as a Badger, may think that was a big mistake.

Mertz was always positive, was never a d!ck, and tried his damndest; he just didn’t get it done. The Gotch wishes him the best wherever he lands.

FUN FACT: Student net transfers out of MMSD during Jennifer Cheatham’s six (6) year term, 4400 students. In the previous 15 years, 3400 students; has it gotten better, stayed the same, or gotten worse?

Funniest thing; there were nine figure referenda on the April 2019 election ballot for school construction in Sun Prairie ($174 million or $186.3 million), DeForest ($125 million), and other municipalities (totaling ~half a Billion!); all within driving distance of Madison.

Funniest thing 2.0; Cheatham resigned five (5) weeks to the day after that election/referenda.

      Probably nothing to it, right…?

Anywho, and those referenda weren’t just about upgrading existing facilities, but BUILDING new schools.

Why? Population trends anticipated over the next 5 to 10 years. Those trends show population increases (incuriously, young people with school age children) flocking to nearby cities for a number of reasons.

Not the least of them would be Madisonians sick of confiscatory property taxes; the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch and her adoring husband pay >$350/month JUST for Madison schools!

AND a School Board/MMSD that is blissfully cranking out an uneducated feral class; future generationally dependent Blogge Idiots

      Wait a minute.

Maybe THIS has something to do with it, too:

UW journalism Professor Sue Robinson: “Race needs to factor into EVERY SINGLE DECISION being made on the (Madison School) board,” (bolds/caps/italics mine)

The priority is no longer education/preparing students to make their way in the world. It’s the coddling of a privileged group/protected class, assuring them that they’re victims, making excuses for why Javon & Juan can’t read, and that their every challenge is because of RAYcism.

      What could possibly go wrong?

      Marc Andreessen on Twitter:

“Whitepill #1: The hysterics have only a negative vision to sell. Narrow, pinched, sanctimonious, endlessly critical, resentful, bitter, demoralizing, depressing. No normal person actually wants to live like that.”

I think this is how most people see MMSD.

    10. Bob says:

After seeing what the woke left did to Alderman Paul Skidmore why would anyone but the woke left or the more woke left run for local office. Be it school board, city alder, county or even state why would you do this to yourself.

Even reading that my alder Grant Foster is not running again I have little hope that someone will run that isn’t all in on the all woke agenda.
