Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Permission to defend myself, sir?

If police cannot.

It’s spooky that the Independence Day shooter at Highland Park drove all the way up from that north Chicago suburb to Madison WI looking for potential targets. Brings it closer to home.

Our little parade in Orchard Ridge had concluded by that time; in any event, no high vantage points in our low-slung neighborhood. A goofy-looking FXXX-er if ever but in certain precincts in MadTown he would blend right in.

The creeps target places where guns are banned — schools, churches, and theaters — or parades and festivals that can be attacked anonymously from afar, providing a getaway. It does seem police could throw up a drone or two to surveil rooftops. After the Waukesha Christmas parade carnage with car, concrete barriers.

Authorities here in Dane County are offering “active assailant preparedness training.” A quick purview of the lesson plan does not include “shoot back at the bastard” but does say “defend yourself.” With what? We repeat: Permit teachers to volunteer to arm themselves.

God can sort them out

Asked a friend if his church was protected by force of arms; he answered it was whenever he took a pew. The Head Groundskeeper hereabouts signed up for his concealed weapon carry license within days of the state law taking effect in 2011. There are over 450,000 of us now in Wisconsin. When we’re asked are we carrying our standard answer is “You don’t want to find out.” But how many of us are armed at any given time? Guessing a small percentage.

The U.S. Supreme Court told State of New York to quit requiring its citizens to come up with a good excuse before they could protect themselves. Our snarky response: if the state cannot do its job …

Police participate in parades but none shot back at the shooter in Highland Park. For that matter, JFK was surrounded by Secret Service and Dallas police on motorcycles but none of then returned fire to the Texas Book Depository. Bad enough that law enforcement in Uvalde TX waited 70 minutes in the hallway outside the classroom while children bled out. Now we learn that a police officer had a clear shot at the perp before he entered the school but awaited the O.K. from his supervisor before taking the kill shot. Isn’t that how we let Osama bin Laden escape justice all those years after being cornered in Bora Bora?

We ascribe that timidity to the War on Cops. Do you want to be the police officer getting his daily close-up on Court TV because there was the slightest chance you might shoot the wrong guy? (Don’t be Lt. Drebin, who took down the knife-wielding nut in a toga before his sergeant informed him it was Shakespeare in the Park performing Julius Caesar.)

Blaska’s Bottom Line: We remain skeptical of Red Flag laws. Illinois has one and is hostile to gun rights in general and look what happened!

If even one parade-goer had fired back might a life been saved?

You are so spot on with this column. Tip of the holster to ya. I love what you did with this topic and the solutions you suggest, especially with all the technology and history with this type of incident. Cops on the roof actually able to take down a predator (with impunity), drones, real live detectives embedded in the crowds — what a marvelous concept. Why didn’t anyone think of that before???!!! Carrrripes!

“…because there was the slightest chance [an officer] might shoot the wrong guy.” The WRONG guy?! Now cops are vilified in the “court” of public opinion if they shoot the RIGHT guy–especially if he’s a POC–or if they shoot him more than once regardless of how many times he shot at them.

Smart drones / robotic dogs and spiders are the future. They’ll neutralize shooters and runaways like the guy in Akron. Probably still 10 years out though.

I still haven’t heard WHY the Highland Park shooter took off for Madison, of all places, after fleeing from the scene of his crime. Maybe he’d heard good things about our restorative justice program.

Only mind-numbingly clueless, catastrophically ignorant morons ask for more More MORE gun laws when the ones on the books aren’t being enforced now.

That there same group (mind-numbingly clueless, catastrophically ignorant morons) focus on real REAL scary mass shootings, yet are completely ignore THE FACT that 99.77 firearm homicides ARE NOT mass shootings; mass shootings account for .23 % of all firearm homicides.

The bespawling addlepates who focus on mass shootings see a speck in their brother’s eye while ignoring the lumber yard in their own.

Anywho, want to lessen the number of gun deaths?

Try focusing on the REAL PROBLEM: A certain Melanin Positive demographic (the Y-Chromosomal HALF of ~13%, you do the math) accounts for over 50% of gun deaths, and Lord only knows what percentage of gunshot injuries.

Remove the demographic responsible for over half (per the FBI, blacks accounted for 55.9% of all homicide offenders in 2019, with Whites 41.1%) of the gun deaths and guess what happens to the overall picture.

If every non-White resident of New York City vanished and the Whites there still committed crime in the same numbers and rates that they’ve done, the murder rate would drop by 91 percent and the shootings rate would drop by 97 percent. In an all-White Chicago, murder would decline 90 percent.

    Huh?

LaLaLoopyLoonyLeftyLand’s never been interested in results, though…just methods.

    How’s that working…?

True Gotch but lets be honest despite all the yard signs that claim otherwise, we don’t really care. We only really care about the shootings that could happen to us, that we are helpless to prevent.

“We only really care about the shootings that could happen to us, that we are helpless to prevent.”

Fair point; but people generally, and despicable Lefties (mortified of their own shadows) specifically, are very poor judges of risk & probability.

To wit: Do you feel safer (statistically and literally) at a parade, or driving/walking past LaFollette, East, or JMM High Schools?

Heck, some parents take separate flights rather than separate cars to the airport, despite the latter approach providing more statistical safety.

And there are some parents who wouldn’t dream of allowing their children in the house of a gunowner, yet won’t bat an eyelash at them going to a house with a SWIMMING POOL.

Heck, even The Gotch isn’t above thinking that something might take…um…the bait while he’s swimming au naturel in Iron County’s pristine Weber Lake.

Fear, real or imagined, is a powerful motivator!

I’m in the “lies, damned lies and statistics” camp. Driving a car for example I as someone who never uses a cellphone while driving, refuse to be thrown in with all the idiot drivers out there. Yes there are freak occurences but for the most part you control your own destiny while driving.

Statistics aren’t racist, they’re just, well, statistics. FBI crime data has shown this trend for years, despite the failure of most of the left-leaning media and legislature to acknowledge it. Speaking of statistics, ~20,000 gun deaths a year in a country with almost 400 million firearms in circulation is a hell of a safety record, even if you assume a unique gun for every death, which obviously isn’t the case. And speaking of more statistics, how’s Milwaukee’s homicide count going this year? On track to break a record last I saw.

According to Hey Jackass Chicago, https://heyjackass.com/ there have been some 345 murders so far this year in Chicago. 77.8% were black people. Only one person has. been killed by a cop.

While we demonize the police, we also tend to overlook or forget the number of crimes that the thug class commits.

It should be common knowledge that the Police don’t protect us from criminals. They protect the criminals from us.
