Republican candidate’s fundraiser vandalized

The times we live in

A young lady named Charity Barry is running for Congress from the Second District centered around Madison WI. She is a Republican vying to replace Mark Pocan, a progressive Democrat. Planned a fundraiser for this evening in Monroe but progressives got there first. In lieu of honest debate they substitute property damage and vulgarity. The candidate (her website here) issued this statement:

“I am shocked that Democrats would be so hateful as to do this, but Vince’s Restaurant and the building next door were vandalized last night. Vince’s will still cater the event but it has been moved to the American Legion Post, 1626 12 Ave., Monroe. If you have not already decided to come, please consider attending. I will not be deterred by this act of political intimidation. Do not think this district is not winnable. On Tuesday, a Republican candidate won the Texas 34 Congressional District. A district that has been held by a Democrat for over 100 years. It can happen here and the Democrats are desperate.”

Sounds like the same dear folks who trashed the anti-planned parenthood office.

From the same taproot as those same wonderful civic lights who blew themselves up in that Greenwich Village townhouse https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwich_Village_townhouse_explosion in 1970.

Any bets if Madison television or newspapers cover this? I know the democratic party won’t say a word.

    • If they don’t cover it then in their minds it didn’t happen and they can claim that Republican’s are falsely smearing Democrats for something that didn’t happen. Unfortunately this immoral tactic seems to work, I haven’t seen any photos of the vandalism and I’ve seen no coverage of it other than here on Blaska’s site and the statement on Charity Barry website.

Did it really happen or is it just another right-wing conspiracy theory? 😉

Don’t hold your breath. The local media is too busy covering non-events like the latest 5K run for the cure to some obscure disease or the opening of the newest trendy microbrewery. Or anything else that reinforces Madison’s inflated self-image.

Right. Time to engage in some assisted suicide.

Please elaborate. Don’t hide behind figures of speech or jokes. This language that implies things without directly stating it sure is popular these days – it’s a real good way to weasel out of accountability for how others interpret one’s words.

What do you want to happen to people who hold “progressive” political views? How do you want the “assisted suicide” to be carried out?

Seems like another step towards normalizing political violence to me. “Oh, it’s just a joke; it’s just a figure of speech; it’s not literal; why are you such a snowflake….” Yep, just a joke… until it isn’t.

What’s happening to us? How can we stop viewing each other as enemies? People might label me as progressive, but I don’t think conservatives are my enemy. They’re my family, neighbors and coworkers. I don’t want them to be dead. There’s a real sickness going with American media hyping us up to absolutely hate each other.

Calling people toads, what purpose does that really serve? Why is that fun for grown adults? I’m sure people will respond with “but they started it!”. I don’t care who started it, I want to know who ends it.

If you’re a progressive who doesn’t see conservatives as your enemy, I (seriously) suggest you write a book explaining how you managed that feat. It would be a welcome relief from politicians, celebrities and social commentators on the left and right who churn out books explaining in excruciating detail why the other side is the enemy. And I’d be first in line to buy it.

And for the record, Kooter said that “progressivism” was dying a messy death, not progressives.

I’m a worker. Anyone else who works isn’t my enemy. Even the owners who don’t work aren’t in the end my enemy – they must have talents and skills that can be useful and I’d be content working shoulder to shoulder in partnership with them.

I believe in democracy. Under democracy it’s incompatible to believe that you’ll always get or should get “your way”. I believe I can try to convince people to see my point of view, and I think I have ideas that are worth talking about, but it’s ok if people don’t agree with me. MLK and other great teachers consistently teach love, and that hate is the only real enemy. A person can be a hateful Democrat, Republican, Progressive, Liberal, Conservative, whatever.

Kind of you to suggest I write a book, perhaps someday if I’m fortunate enough to retire and have more time. Most workers I’ve ever met deep down instinctively know this stuff, but our society keeps us from taking action with their knowledge. So they’d laugh to think that all these “smart” people that run everything need an instruction manual to just be a decent human to each other, and they know that even with the manual they’d find a way to twist it upside down because they are addicted to hierarchy and power. Plenty of manuals have been written over the centuries. Can’t reason with an addict 😉

Any communique from the office of that little toad Pocan denouncing violence–you know, like the kind that happened on Jan. 6th?

Have to give credit where credit is due. Mark Pocan or his office denounced it and channel 27 had a story on it.

Typical useless Crotch comment AGAIN. Look at the pic. Camera over the front door and I bet several more around. Show the tapes. Pocan won his last race with 70% of the vote. Barry has no money, no name, no history, sits at a table with an AR and 9mm when she meets people. As per their Facebook post the restaurant said they had a reservation called in for several diners NOT A FUNDRAISER. They also have a policy of not getting political in their business. Barry wanted 40 bucks a head for an event being held at a business who didn’t know about it. Right out of Rudy’s play book. What better way to get your name out there than vandalize your own event.
