One of our favorites here at the Stately Manor, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, announced that he is leaving the network. For too many of my political allies, that was good news — akin to Nancy Pelosi seeking asylum in the Ecuadoran Embassy.
“Good!” one exulted. “Buhh-byyyy!” another mocked.
“He hated Trump, loved Obama, & went easy on Biden,” a third indicted. “He hobnobbed with Hillary. [Blaska: So did Trump.] Now he’s going to CNN. Case closed.”
Yet another: “Wallace … became a sour partisan hack, nothing more.”
To the latter, the Head Groundskeeper responded: “But you’re not. Good for you!”
We’re getting deep into where mosquitos breed when Sean Trumpitty won’t satisfy your fix and you Parler-vous with OAN, NewsMax and Epoch Times.
Real journalists tell us what we want to hear?
“Maybe he will be replaced by a real journalist!” exulted another friend of the Right.
Did any of these pebble throwers ever actually watch Chris Wallace work or are they merely taking Trump’s angry-birds tweets as gospel? On his final show Sunday 12-12-21 Wallace opened by branding Bill de Blasio with the hot iron of crime. Up on the screen: the New York mayor’s claim that he runs “The Safest Big City in America.” Then Wallace goes in for the kill: Six of the seven major “index” crimes are UP under this mayor; murder most foul ↑ by 40%!
“You know what Disraeli said about lies, damn lies, and statistics,” Wallace chided.
Perhaps erudite references like the one to Disraeli is what discombobulates my fellow Deplorables. Wallace went on to cross-examine the Democrat(ic) mayor for giving non-citizens the vote, mandating private-sector workers get the Covid vaccine jab, and running for governor with only a 28% approval rating.
“Mayor, do you really have a shot?” Then it was Sen. Lindsay Graham’s turn to fend off the newsman’s tough questions. The gray lab coats at the Policy Werkes thought Graham emerged from the onslaught stronger for it.
Tune in to your own reality
If we conservatives cannot withstand the tough questions, how are we going to persuade moderates, win debates, get elected?
Too many of my Republican friends (for they ARE … my friends) resent debate because they’ve never had to whet their blade on the opposition’s stone. They inhabit their own bubble, just as the Progs live in theirs.
The Big Three news networks back in Walter Cronkite’s time have dissipated into a congerie of cable outlets and now are atomizing into separate streaming services. The news customer can now choose their own reality from an assortment of brands, flavors, and configurations as bewildering as the aisle of boxed breakfast cereals at Woodman’s warehouse supermarket.
Post-modernism has won! Everything is relative! First, it took over the political Left; now it has subsumed the Right. For the former, truth is merely a conceptual construct, an artifact of race, class, and gender identity. Men can be women; women can be men. Cops cause crime. For my … friends, truth is Trump. Period. Full stop. January 6 was a false-flag Antifa operation. Mike Pence is a traitor. Trump is the rightful President.
Blaska’s Bottom Line is we need more journalists like Chris Wallace — tough on both sides like a real journalist should be. Do we really need more shills like Laura Ingraham and Rachel Maddow?

It’s not that we can’t withstand tough questions. We just want those tough questions to be equally distributed. And in the case of Chris Wallace, many of us thought he had a bias against Trump. He’s reportedly a registered Democrat, which is his choice, but like most journalists his bias showed.

A lot of Republicans have a bias against Trump. A majority of voters in both 2016 and 2020, in fact. As Ron Johnson noted, Trump ran behind every Republican in all of Wisconsin’s eight congressional districts last year.

I know that FNN will be rotating guest hosts for Fox News Sunday until a permanent replacement can be chosen. My first draft pick would be Ben Domenich, editor of The Federalist or Mark Steyn, a free agent. There’s a wealth of talent in the Conservative rank from which to choose. .
Most are clean and articulate. Several are young.
Wallace is no Cronkite. Lest we forget, with his ideological reporting and his hate for Nixon and the GOP Cronkite almost turned The Tet Offensive into a defeat. He cost many more American lives. Chris Wallace tried to do the same with his end-stage TDS and biased reportage.
If your think Wallace was a :fair and balanced” moderate, you’re deceiving yourself and the truth is not in you. Wearing those same ideological blinders and looking through those Lefty-lite lenses, our squishy moderate friends, (and they ARE our friends) couldn’t find their own asses with both hands in the dark, much less find any Truth.

I love historical facts. Fact: Cronkite not only ‘got’ LBJ, he piled hate on Nixon, too.
He didn’t single-handedly turn the public against the war in Vietnam, … many of us were already against it, … but he did spin Tet as being a catastrophe.

You might say because he attacked both Ds and Rs, that that makes him a fair and balanced newsman. No. It doesn’t. Rather, he used his “most trusted name in news” identity to shape the narrative. There’s a good piece, “The Way It Wasn’t; Cronkite and Vietnam” on the History News Network site. Chris Wallace fancies himself a reporter, but he’s a slave to his own arrogant ideology. Like WaPo’s Woodward and Bernstein, he thinks himself so powerful that he too could take down a duly-elected sitting president. Lord knows, he tried.

The hive-minded media could never forgive him for exposing them as biased.
But since the media didn’t make him, they certainly couldn’t contain or control him. Despite being constantly attacked by from within and without, he accomplished quite a lot. His populist policies were good for ALL Americans. He was unquestionably the strongest Pro-Lie president ever. He left office with America in good shape: a strong economy, secure borders, energy independence, strong national defense, good foreign policy and unbridled Reaganesque optimism for the future, … so bright I had to wear shades.
Given the warm tongue bath you’ve given Wallace, I bet he’s still on your Christmas card list. Are your favorite RINOs, Kinsinger and Cheney, still on that list, too?

Chris Wallace on his way to CNN is a seamless transition for the Washington Party and its fans.
Raise hands, who believes President Trump Svengali’ed an insurrection to overthrow the gummint wherein five people were murdered, officer Sicknick was bludgeoned to death with a fire extinguisher and it had to be a conspiracy to enable shaman boy to get his spear and pointy hat, not to mention his make up on. And that Ashlee Babbitt had it coming.

Then how, pray tell Mark+, did January 6 happen? By spontaneous combustion? Trump’s one-hour speech beforehand — “If you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore!” — was just so much hot air? Trump, a Svengali? At least it’s an explanation.

Why the focus on Trump? He’s no longer president. Biden is, and he’s destroying the country. I’m much more worried about rising crime, unstable borders, being dominated by China, and having the dollar devaluated than I am by something that happened a year ago.

I agree with Dave. Too many of my conservative friends dumped their conservative principles for Trump. They overlooked his very unconservative policies and positions in exchange for the win (which he did deliver.) After that, they were forced to defend everything he did, conservative or not. It was a very short trip from there to, convincing themselves that everything he did was right, and everybody who criticized him was the enemy. That great journalists like Mike Wallace, and great conservative pundits like Jonah Goldberg have been defenestrated is criminal. Paul Ryan was VP on our ticket in 2012. 4 years later he is the ultimate “RINO.” Did Paul Ryan change? No, other things did.

The only “principles” they are guided by are big government and an all consuming power grab. Wallace gave a 4 year lie that trump was a white supremacist from out of context comments , “very fine people” and not the entire text of what he said. That was a blatant hit job based on a lie. That being said , Trumps answer to that question or lack of answer ended his chance of ever being elected again That was game set match. I did not like the false framing of that question and wallace smug face showed his disdain while asking it. But now we have we deserve. Bring on the comet

The Squire presents some significant points to ponder, and some real problems about the direction the conservatives have taken. The tRumpster was UN-elected, hoist by his own petard. This blog entry needs to be reviewed honestly and then hopefully, some attitude adjustments made. “No, you can’t always get what you want”…
Seems that the Left is desperate and disparate, and it’s noticed/authenticated by the scattered & frantic efforts to secure a meaningful platform. A good opportunity for us.
But they’re not alone. The conservatives keep shifting towards the extreme. At some point, they may be indistinguishable from Lefty, in terms of partisanship within a political party.
Unrealistic expectations and set-in-concrete demands do not win elections. We have many achievable goals (think winning elections) unless/until we go off in nonproductive tangents

How do you think conservatives have become extreme?
While Trump’s style was loud and brash, I don’t think his policies were extreme in the bit. Strong borders, a focus on manufacturing jobs in the US, halting human trafficking, supporting law enforcement, rejecting racist CRT. These are conservative values.
That said, as much good as Trump did, I think he carries too much baggage. We need to get away from the drama and focus on issues. I’d love to see a ticket that includes any of the following: Ron DeSantis, Tim Scott, Josh Hawley, or Tom Cotton.

Liberty, Thanks for bringing me up short. Actually, many or most conservatives have NOT exactly become extreme -yet. But from what I read here on this blogsite, many of the commenters HERE are a tad “extreme”, or at minimum, not realistic. 2024 should be a shoo-in for the Republican party, but only if we present our best candidate. And Yes, one of many probs w/ Trump is baggage.

A few points over all: The January 6 thing was a couple dozen of the standard issue wackos that inhabit LaFayette Park. No conspirator goes in with a spear, make up and a horny hat. Even Juicy Smolyay can’t make that up. Did anyone do violence besides the cop who killed Ashlee Babbitt? But then it turned into the burning of the Reichstag and the capitol was forted up like Bagram Airport should have been.
If you don’t get sucked down into the weeds between D’s and R’s and all the other distractions, you’ll see that the real divide in our country is fairly clear. Think Form vs. Function. All the virtue signaling good intentions that have made our large cities (and Madison) dysfunctional are about feelings. From equity lenses to school boards …. feeling/form. And the party line on that form changes daily.
Trump is Function. Measurable function. Solve problems, accomplish projects on time and under budget. It is no wonder he shocks the Washington Party in a town that voted 94% for Obama, Hillary, Slo’ Joe and the Ho.

I’ve visited LaFayette Park. It’s maybe 1,000th the size of Central Park NY. Pretty small. You could squeeze 719 people in there if they were shoulder to shoulder. That’s how many have been arrested for the attempted coup. Quite a few more than “a couple dozen standard-issue wackos.” Not saying every single one of the 719 are’t wackos. You’ve almost got to be to believe that the 2020 election was stolen. Or that Ashlee Babbitt was the only one hurt. Life Lesson: Do not attempt to storm the U.S. Capitol shouting “Hang Mike Pence.”

Add Kevin McCarthy’s urgent phone call to Trump and #45 brushing it off. “I guess they must care about the election more than you.” Again I ask, Mark, how did January 6 transpire? Trump controlled no minds remotely. He actively, in person, in so many words, encouraged the insurrection and excused it while it was transacting.

The Insurrection Hoax is still dividing us. There’s a real fear that the 2016 presidential election might’ve been the last fair, open and honest election in America.
Every honest person knows that the 2020 election was tainted. Our self-appointed political masters, Guardians of the Galaxy @YouTwitFaceGulag and other woke oligarchal (oath)keepers of the status quo call this view The Big Lie”.
But some folks ate the real big Leftist lie, … hook, line and sinker. Was 1/6 an effort by 74+ million Trump defenders, (aka: domestic terrorists) to change the results of the election? Was it “the worst assault on our democracy since 9/11”? Was it “worse than Pearl Harbor”? Was it really, … according to Zhou Bai-Din, … “worse than the Civil War?” No. NO. And NO.
If it was an insurrection why hasn’t anyone been charged with insurrection? The only criminal charges for those 1/6 political prisoners still being unconstitutionally held in solitary confinement are for “parading without a permit” and “trespassing”.
End-stage TDS-suffering souls want to make it Trump’s fault. They’d also proglobotically also want to rename the San Andreas, “Trump’s Fault.” Trump suggested people march to the Capitol, “peacefully and patriotically” ( our 1st Amendment Right), … those were his exact words, … in order to make their voices heard. He did not incite a riot. He stirred up the crowd.
Predictably, Democrats over-reacted and erected a 12′ wall of separation around the people’s house, topped with concertina wire and guarded by 20,000 federal troops.
Those optics were something only seen in a hostile turd-whirled takeover by a despotic dictator. Good job, Brownie.
The hive-minded media just can’t let the insurrection narrative go. It’s all Lefties have left. Perhaps Cheney and Pelosi will post-impeach Trump once again. I appreciate President Trump. He’s a bumptious boistrous blue-collar billionaire.
He’s a “Nyeeew Yawka”, and he speaks American. He don’t need no teleprompter, because he speaks from the heart. He’s not scripted, weighing his words, sifting and winnowing them though focus groups. He knows what he believes. There’s no doubt he loves America and ALL of our fellow normal, regular Americans. What we all should celebrate is that he was elected without permission over the incredulous objections of the bipartisan oligarchy that governs us.
That was his unforgivable offense. Trump was the greatest threat in history, to the credentialed class, … a clear and present danger to the Deep State Swamp, Nanny State, and the collective globalisters. They tried their damnedest to destroy him. They couldn’t, although they’re still trying. Don’t help them by going squishy. Stay strong.

Her duplicity has gotten some unintended consequences. But by leaking Trump’s private emails, she actually gives more credibility, …. gravitas, if you will, to Donald Trump Jr, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Mark Meadows, Kevin McCarthy and Brain Kilmeade, and it shows that we’re not all personality cult members. We publicly call Trump out when we think he’s wrong, as did they.

President Trump was one of first people Glenn Youngkin called after his win to thank him for his much-coveted endorsement. It was President Trump who steeled Younkin’s spine and advised him to speak from the heart.
