Why Mark Pocan, D-Madison, voted against the debt limit deal
“Forget the debt ceiling. The Biden-McCarthy compromise is a big deal because it is a spending compromise. An important provision of the deal is that if, by the end of the year, the House and Senate haven’t passed 12 appropriations bills (the long-forgotten way budgeting is supposed to work), all discretionary spending would become subject to an automatic 1% cut. This is what is known as a “sequester.” A sequester is to Democrats what garlic is to vampires. …
“The truth today is this: The modern Democratic Party — the party of Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and the House Squad — won’t cut or slow spending for any existing federal program, ever. Now, Mr. McCarthy’s negotiators have managed to create a wedge against the left’s massive opposition to spending reforms.”
— Daniel Henninger, Wall Street Journal.

Question of the Day
What ‘Deep State’?
Rachael Rollins, the US attorney for Massachusetts, leaked sensitive Justice Department information to a journalist in an effort to influence a local election, lied to investigators and improperly attended a fundraiser with Jill Biden, according to two critical federal reports released Wednesday. (More here.)
How can anyone take them seriously?
Charles C.W. Cooke asks at National Review.
“Rachel Maddow made a career out of spreading lunatic conspiracy theories on MSNBC, as did Chris Hayes and Nicolle Wallace (who is still, today, rejecting all evidence that contradicts her fever dream). Adam Schiff lied relentlessly from his official perch on the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and is now gearing up to run for the Senate.”

How much jail time should Jussie get?
He should get 20 years plus a $20,000,000.00 fine that goes directly to the Chicago Police Department.

Whatever happened to the Madison Jussie? The young lady that had “lighter fluid” sprayed on her and lit on fire? This also was proved to be a hoax, yet nothing has happened

Madison PD should be leading the charge on this.
After Kim Fox dropped charges against Smollett, it’s the Chicago PD who called for her resignation and got the charges reinstated.
Why can’t MPD do the same with Bernstein? If Chief Barnes could stand side by side with Michael Johnson to publicly cheer the Derek Chauvin case and cops could take a knee, why can’t they speak out on this clear miscarriage of justice?

IMHO Audrey Seiler is much closer to Jussie than AB is. Like Jussie her crime was premeditated and likely the result of mental health issues. Only difference is she admitted it, helped along by her family that knew it was a ruse the whole time.
AB just happened to set herself on fire, not premeditated. Her mistake was then fabricating the frat boy story, which her dumb self thought would be just accepted in the people’s republic.

I think the law distinguishes between what “mental illness” is and isn’t.
Schizophrenia, bipolar, OCD, depression are examples of true mental illnesses. Though I’m not a psychiatrist, I’m not sure narcissism, selfishness, and sociopathy could be placed in the same category.

Agree, Liberty. No mental illness issues manifested w/ Jussie. It was an intelligent (he thought) way to a bigger payday -Nuthin’ to do w/ mental health. That said, his intelligence should surely come under scrutiny.

GS, very true.
I don’t think lacking a moral compass can be categorized as a mental illness. The line has to be drawn somewhere.

As the prosecutor said he got on the stand under oath and lied continuously for hours on end.
That’s all “progressives” do — they lie constantly. Truth is nothing to them. It’s all about power, position, politics, ideology, and self-preservation. They will lie to no end.
They’d rather see a race war with the rest of us thrown to the dogs, than to admit the truth.
Look how quiet the Dems are. No apologies from the Obamas, or Bidens, or celebrities, for fanning the flames of racial animus by pushing a hoax.
All these hoaxes (and you should START from the position that 99% of these fantastical stories turn out to be hoaxes) point to a simple truth:
In America, the demand for racism outweighs the supply. Hence the barrage of hoaxes. This goes back years — decades, to Tawana Brawley in the 1980’s.

No kidding, Adam. The need for Lefty seeking victimhood goes way back.
Since they’re not based in reality, proglibocrats are really good at pretending.
If there was any good, moral or ethical progressive, he’d apologize for being so wrong.
After the verdict, all you’ll hear from the proggy portside is a cacophony of crickets.
Juicey Small-yay is like O.J. “The Juice” Simpson, but without the charisma, the talent and the mad-dog murdering streak. He’s a privileged elite who thought the rules of decency didn’t apply to him. Maybe Juicey can befriend The Juice and learn how to get away with actual murder or at least if no reason, … he could try to rhyme,
“If da glove don’t fit, … you MUST aquit.”,
When Juicey is sentenced, he’ll get to spend some quality time in his safe-space cell.
He could kill some time by visiting https://fakehatecrimes.org/. Hate Crime Hoax, rule #1: “Never pay your co-conspirators/accomplices with a check. Use Bitcoin.”
But he was precedential, ….being the first guy to ever scam a Nigerian.
Were real hate crimes more prevalent in America, there’d be no need to fake them.”
Clay Travis put it in simple economic terms: “The demand for racist hate far exceeds the supply of any racist hate incidents. Because of this, we are seeing one racial hoax charade after another.”
There’s plenty of blame to go around, so we shouldn’t be selfish in assigning it. I blame the butt-nekkid, but historic, Emperor Urkel “Let Them Eat Hope” the First. A fish rots from the head. With his political/cultural/media narrative, he spread the cancer of hate. He made it way worse. Knee-jerk lockstep Lefty lemmings followed suit. Proglibocratic press helped paint America as an illegitimate, irredeemable, deplorable, bitter-clinging, white supremacist nation.
Race-baiting, racial division and hate for cops began under BHO, (pronounced “bee-hoe”). Remember the Beer Summit after the Skippy Gates incident? Even before the facts were in, he said, “The police acted stupidly.” This led to O-blame-ya’s non-apology at the Beer Summit. Remember, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon?”
Urkel Made Racism Great Again.
Wait. Wasn’t he the guy who was supposed to be post-racial and help heal America? Barack Hussein Obama, poured gas on it and lit the tampon on his Molotov Cocktail thrown at America. He cranked up the racial division because he had to regain power,
… no matter what the cost in terms of tearing his fellow Americans apart.
The late great El Rushbo, may PBOH, always killed with parody and humor.

Initially falling for a tempting hoax or lie might be forgivable, most of us are susceptible. (“Let he who is stoned cast the first sin”, and all that) Experience is something you don’t get until just after you need it. “Fool me once, …..”
While there are some who use hoaxes to actively foment hatred and discord, most use them for self-aggrandizement. They seek to paint themselves as sympathetic “victims”, or hyper-virtuous “allies”, and couldn’t care less about the effect on the country and society. With every statement, comment, tweet, and action they seek to inject themselves, and make it all about THEM. Unfortunately, for them, the woke are incapable of “looking out for #1” without “stepping in #2”.

Right on, Adam.
“They’d rather see a race war with the rest of us thrown to the dogs, than to admit the truth.”
What kind of people knowingly contribute to a civil war that’s destroying actual lives, because they think it’ll serve their end goal?
You have to be pretty selfish and dastardly. Sociopathic.

I say 5 years in PRISON, just for the sheer gall. The judge indicated he would take any perjury committed on the witness stand, into account at sentencing. There isn’t anything more outrageous than claiming that white, rednecks wearing MAGA hats, watch Empire and know who Jessie Smollett is. Oh yeah, roaming the streets of Chicago at 2 AM, in sub-zero weather, with a noose and a hot sauce bottle filled with bleach, looking for random gay black men. And then they found one!
Anything less than 3 years would be a travesty.

An interesting question would be ask the investigators about the status of this “crime.” Still an open investigation? If it is closed, why? If they know she lied (and they do,) then why hasn’t she been charged with filing a false police report? Why does she get to skate? She’s not even a Hollywood actor!

Yes, there are two America’s out there. One America, that believes in freedom, the rule of law written by the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. The second as the other America, that was written by those who want to size control of power and reduce us all to no more than mere serfs.
Those of us who want their and their fellow man’s freedom are mostly us little people. Those who want us all to be serfs are the elites.
It is only those who work for the elites that want the rule of law upended.

Now that he’s found guilty, what sentence should he get?
Good question.
Who knew I’d ever agree with the professionally and perpetually-offended race-baiter par excellance, the Rev. Al, “The reported hate attack on my friend and brother, Jussie Smollett, is despicible and outrageous. The guilty must face the maximum.”
