Progressives: we’ve lost the working class

The Werkes fights Biden’s inflation!

The first step to recovery is recognizing the problem. Progressives are groggy from their off-year election shellacking. They know they’re in trouble but — like a San Francisco street addict— can’t kick the new, more powerful opiate of the Marxist masses: critical race theory.

“Democrats have been slowly hemorrhaging working-class voters, the backbone of the party since the New Deal,” The Nation magazine declares, furiously scrubbing their own bloody hands.

Election Day Tuesday 11-02-21 was panic in needle park. Democrats’ up-front socialist nominee loses to a write-in (albeit the sitting mayor) in blue-collar Buffalo NY. A retired police captain and former Republican won the boroughs outside Manhattan to become mayor of New York. Minneapolis — Ground Zero of the George Floyd protests! — turns back Defund the Police. Seattle, thought to be thoroughly colonized by social justice warriors, elects a Republican mayor and district attorney. More working class latinos and blacks broke for Republicans in Virginia, including a black female Marine veteran.

“Broadly across the country, working class and nonwhite voters appear to have offered crucial support to moderate, even conservative, candidates, the Manhattan Institute reports. Donald Trump wasn’t all wrong.

Soviet worker poster

The Nation admits “Only five members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus represent competitive working-class districts.” (That would not be Mark Pocan’s Madison WI.) So much for party of the proletariat, eh, Marxists? The Nation summarizes the task at hand in its headline:

“How to stop progressives from losing the working class.”

Their prescription: MORE FREE STUFF! “Medicare for all or a federal jobs guarantee.” Jobs GUARANTEED! (Didn’t Stalin try that?)

Voters aren’t racist? Someone tell John Nichols!

The Nation writer polled working-class voters in five swing states, including Wisconsin. Her findings “complicate the popular theory that the primary driver of white working-class electoral behavior in recent elections is a latent or resurgent racism.” Popular theories like:

•   “Democrats didn’t lose Virginia because progressives were too Woke. They lost because Youngkin lied about critical race theory to activate white racial anxiety. — Charles Blow in the NY Times.

•   Or, in the very same issue of The Nation: “Virginia Republicans perfected the post-Trump dog whistle.”

•   The New York Times staff writer who counsels:Try to disregard ephemera like quotes from random parents and, especially, students.

The racist theory that cannot be named

One might think that “complicating the popular theory” would lead The Nation to follow the bread crumbs leading to the big payday: Quit Playing the Race Card. But the author pivots hard Left to prescribe “the kind of egalitarian economic agenda championed by candidates like Bernie Sanders.”

The white lab coats at the Werkes put the electron microscope to “How to stop progressives from losing the working class.” No mention of the culture. Totally ignored something called “values.” Critical race theory? Nary a jot — much less a tittle!

Did The Nation’s researcher ask:

  • How many plumbers, auto technicians, and dairy farmers sign up for the “mostly peaceful” BLM/Antifa riots?
  • Whether HVAC installers and forklift operators want to Defund the Police?
  • The number of fire fighters and snow plow drivers confessing their white privilege? Agreeing that this nation is institutionally racist? Opening the borders, turning off oil pipelines, removing a big stone ‘cuz racism? Condemning Kyle Rittenhouse?

Blaska’s Affordable Bottom Line: Yes, progressives are that clueless in Seattle, Manhattan, and Madison WI.

Could Republicans be so lucky?

    Get ready for more.

If Tony “Worst Governor Ever”s goes down in flames The Nation will scream about racist Wisconsin.

If Dems lose the House and Senate next fall watch for the howling editorials disguised as “news analysis” crying about resurgent white supremacy.

And if Joe “Carter 2.0” Biden gets put out to pasture in ’24, The Nation will set themselves on fire in public to protest the horrible injustice of it all, and label the country’s voters as racist insurrectionists for daring to vote GOP — including Latinos, Black men, and Asians (who are now lumped in with whites in academia).

The Democrat Party has lost all normal, regular, rational God and Country-loving Americans.
This party sure isn’t your father’s union, working-class party of JFK anymore.

Looking at the last county by county electoral map, it shows from that America is a beautiful rational red all across the fruited plain. Lefties no longer look like the classic liberals.
They’ve lurched so far to the proggy portside, they’re about to capsize.

Lefties called Conservatives every ad hominem nasty name in the book, from deplorable and irredeemable racists, to homophobes, domestic terrorists and white supremacists.

For a political party obsessed with playing identity politics, who pride themselves on their higher education and academic credentials, name-calling is a rather stupid bush league and half-fast approach to winning American hearts and minds, much less our votes.

But the smug, sanctimonious Lefty elites, still don’t have a clue.
Their own hateful myopic ideology blinds them to reality.
    They just don’t get it.

It’s sanctimony, definitely yes, but I also think they have zealots and seriously unhappy people among their ranks. Leftism has filled a void for them so they cling to it, despite it being a broken ideology.

Also among their ranks are people, who despite their academic credentials, are unable to think for themselves or who are not very bright.

Sensible people, or at least those who are paying attention, are leaving the Democratic party. The big question is, will Republicans step up to the plate and actually fight for their voters, or will they (not all of them) continue to hide in the corner and try to “work with” extremists who have no intention of compromising?

Republicans have to offer more than just being an alternative to insanity.

Ah yes, when will the progressive socialist/marxist left ever find out that Joe-cialism will never work. Quasi marxism is just a shadow of the empty promise that real marxism is.

All the promises of the elites in this world are just that; empty promises. They will get rich from the sweat of our brow and by the money they take from our coffers.

Just like all other totalitarian governments started in the past, the new world order that Joe and his handlers want is one that starts with an empty promise but will bloom into full scale totalitarianism.

Many long-time subscribers to Blaska’s Policy Werkes fondly remember Da Gotch.
He’s still alive, Right, righteous and well. Here’s his last Letter to the Makistanis, (forwarded without permission, but with attribution) from his near west side compound.

Ten Reasons To Vote Democrat, ala Letterman:

#10. I vote Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want.
I’ve decided to marry my German Shepherd.

#9. I vote Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon at 15% isn’t.

#8. I vote Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

#7. I vote Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

#6. I vote Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves. I am also thankful that we have a 911 service that gets police to your home in order to identify your body after a home invasion. It will take the police an average of about 15 minutes to get to your house; 00 buckshot travels at about 1200 ft/sec.

#5. I vote Democrat because I’m not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive and comfy.

#4. I vote Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away Social Security from those who paid into it.

#3. I vote Democrat because I believe that businesses should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrat Party sees fit.

#2. I vote Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

And, the #1 reason I vote Democrat is because I think it’s better to pay $billions$ for oil to people who hate us, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher, or fish here in America. We don’t care about the beetles, gophers, or fish in those other countries.

“The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits”.

“We have to pass it, to find out what’s in it.” — Nasty Pelosi.
A doctor called into a radio show:
“That’s the definition of a stool sample.”

Of all past commentors, … I think I miss da Gotch da most.

Please look at the following article from the online publication Quillette.

This is a really good warning of the road to Hell many are now on. The funny thing is; the road to Hell many those folks are now joyfully going down is one of our their own making.

The sad thing is that they are dragging the rest of us down the same road.

David: Thank you for putting the link to Quillette on your site. There are many great articles that can be found on Quillette
