UW-Madison spokesperson Meredith McGlone told The College Fix (which first reported this story) that there is “nothing unusual” about the way that the campus is advertising the event, despite it not showing up on the campus events calendar nor the University Housing events and activities page. So apparently my White son, who’s all 4 grandparents came here from Eastern Europe, who had NOTHING to do with slavery and oppression and were oppressed themselves in various ways, would be turned away? Isn’t this discrimination?
(Thank God when my son was accepted at UW, he told them to pound sand and went to a college that actually educates kids). I was an ecstatic parent.

UW Madison props itself up as an elite school, but it’s really not.
When you can’t speak freely and challenge popular thought for fear of receiving a poor grade or being canceled, you’re not an institution of higher learning, but rather one of indoctrination.

The removal of Chamberlin rock pretty much eliminated UW-Madison from any consideration as an elite school and is now more of a laughingstock according to rational, common sense, informed individuals, unwilling to assume the misplaced identity of white guilt. That single stupid decision should alert anyone considering enrolling, that UW-M is more about woke politics than pure neutral quality education and critical thinking.
Chancellor Blank missed a golden opportunity to use the big Bad ROCK controversy as a teaching moment to stimulate discussion within the institution that could have included guest speakers, formal debate, etc. Instead she identified as a short-sighted craven invertebrate who is not as smart as she thinks she is. 600k/yr for such buffoonery.

Just to be accurate: 600k/yr + a free house + a free car + every benefit under the sun. To say nothing of a compliant local media who would never report on the relentless left-wing indoctrination UW-Madison students are subjected to for the privilege of attending an institution their parents’ money helps support.

On the left, perception trumps reality every time. And Tommy is part of the problem, not the solution. His carefully cultivated image is that of a good ol’ Wisconsin farm boy made good; in reality, there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between him and the miserable old scarecrow in the governor’s office. (Can anyone name a single effort he’s made since becoming Grand Poobah of the UW to halt the kind of nonsense reported above?) I’m waiting for a governor that makes the following reforms in the UW System: 1) abolish tenure in all but the STEM departments; 2) abolish every department/program that specializes in professional victimhood; 3) cut the number of administrators in half (and eliminate ALL the assistant deans of diversity and inclusion and other such parasites). To those who might squeal about the sacredness of ‘academic freedom’: colleges and university in this country have had decades to exercise it responsibly and have proven themselves unwilling to do so. If your teenager crashes the family sedan for the third time, what do you do?

IMHO ? Tommy’s old and creaky now, so understandably no fight left; that’s why he got appointed. Not much is real about the UW anymore -administrators, teachers and sadly… students.

With the “Centers for….” and other bureaucratic nonsense that has nothing to do with education, no wonder the cost of education is so expensive. The kids coming out of college with debt equal to what a fully loaded SUV! I suspect those in trade schools don’t have such nonsense.

Plus trades people contribute something to society. Whose job is more essential? The person who wires the building you shop, eat, live in, etc. or the one whose only skill is the ability to repeat woke vocabulary and talking points?
College is still useful if you want to become an engineer, doctor, veterinarian, etc, but a liberal arts degree has basically become useless. Why go into massive debt for this?

It is unlikely that many of the current crop of LibArts majors have any intention of repaying their student loans because they are conditioned to expect that if they whine and stomp their feet hard enough those in power will simply cave and pass that debt onto the taxpayer, and bipoc’s know they can always play the race card just in case.

The tough part to swallow is that this “diversity of thought” deal is somehow rooted sincerely in some one’s thought process. It was crazy enuff back inna days of “reverse discrimination” but this twisted logic suspends belief.

The once hallowed halls of academia have been turned into a warm comfortable nest for indoctrination, propagating the pusillanimous pap and proggy propaganda of the hive-minded communists, socialists, secular-progressive totalitarians and infested with low-flow lockstep liberal lemmings, pro-abort feminasties, gender-bending non-cis-normative LBGTQIA-EIEIO barnyard menagerie of sex confused, man-bunned, Peter Pan Pajama Boy Proglobots, radical environmentalists, Angry Blue Fisters and Hate America Firsters.
A UW student today can be exposed to every form of hateful Leftist collective orthodoxy without ever having heard a single, solitary Conservative POV. They can graduate owning a worthless degree in Grievance Studies, in massive student debt, and hating all our shared traditional American values, their own parents, and their God and Country.
