Blacks make up 83% of all homicide offenders in Chicago whose race is known and 83% of all homicide victims, though they constitute less than 30% of the city’s population. …
The claim, amplified at the highest reaches of government, that the police are hunting down and killing black civilians has resulted in an outpouring of bile against law enforcement. Ambush assaults against officers rose 91% in the year after George Floyd’s death. More officers have been feloniously killed so far in 2021 — 50, as of Aug. 18 — than in all of 2020, 2019 and 2017. Suspect resistance is up, which will increase the chance of officer use of lethal force. On Aug. 13, a Chicago police officer was seriously wounded while being dragged by a car fleeing a car stop.
Many police departments and prosecutors’ offices are throwing in the towel to avoid the inevitable disparate impact of law enforcement and the resulting charge of racism. …
When the Federal Bureau of Investigation publishes its 2020 crime report later this year, it will likely show the largest percentage increase in homicide in recorded history, followed by an even higher death toll in 2021. Looters across the country are stripping stores with impunity; some chains are closing outlets rather than be accused of bias should they apprehend shoplifters.

“Send this to your alder.” Why? So they can stick their snoots in the air and congratulate themselves for not being deluded by a racist construct like “facts”? It’s time to face the fact that Madison progressives are not rational beings; they’re fanatics, and fanatics will never be persuaded by rational argument–if anything, attempts to show them the flaws in their thinking will only strengthen their allegiance to the toxic ideology that got them into positions of power. When they hear the word “police,” something visceral in them is unleashed–probably because living in safe, lily-white neighborhoods means their interactions with actual police officers are minimal. For them police are alien beings (only fascists wear uniforms) who deserve to be denigrated and disrespected at every opportunity.

Rational thought and facts don’t work with this group. They have no interest in meeting part way. No amount of complaining or hand-wringing will change this.
Madison is lost. I admire the people who have tried to fix it over the years, but I honestly don’t think it’s fixable at this point. Too much has happened and too many things would have to change, starting with electing people into office who support police.
I don’t see this happening. If it was going to happen, it would have happened by now. People with good sense realize this, and those who have the ability, have moved on and away from Madison.
When people do move, they need to resist the urge to become complacent, because this insanity is spreading across the country, no longer contained just in Progressive bastions.

“Hunting down” is hardly the case. In 80% (or higher) cases, the police are notified by the citizenry about crime, and THEN it so happens that the perps are black. But of course, “Defunding” is the solution (to no problem).
Furthermore, as Gary & Liberty correctly point out, protestation or cognizance concerning the bad aspects of Defunding are just not happening. Especially in MDSN…

EAST: Check Person – 3:13 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject out of control and armed with a gun. Family members of the subject contacted. The subject was reported to be in a residence. Several attempts to contact the subject were made but ultimately a decision was made to walk away at this time.
“Walk away” from a scene where someone is crazy and also armed w/ a gun? I’ve seen other blog entries there that leave me puzzled as to whether or not what is left of the MPD are actually LEO’s or not.

What the quichewaze and the chardonnay sipping elite here in Madison don’t understand is that the more violent crime is in Madison the more it will it will affect their Liberal enclaves like Maple Bluff and so on.
Pretty soon it will not be safe for the denizens of maple bluff or even the Governors Mansion to go outside without fear of being murdered.
I fear for that day for all of us.

Maple Bluff residents don’t have far to walk to find themselves in a gunfight. Just to the North of the country club near Warner Beach and also to the East off Trailsway. I think community members are trying to reclaim the Warner Beach area whose parking lot has been full of troublemakers for years now. There’s a new facility there. I wish them lots of luck.
