What would we do without social media? What DID we do without social media? Chased pollywogs, the sepia-tone nostalgics say.
But Facebook, Twitter, et al are entertaining and sometimes useful to pose ideas, rally the troops, and watch owls blinking from tree cavities (one of our favorites). A visitor from outer space and a smartphone account would also learn that Biden is not really President of the USA. “He was installed like, you know, a toilet.” Har! Har!
Social media also reveals the sorry state of American grammar. Your right; their I go again!
Pet Peeve: Facebook photo of a flooded back yard. “It’s really raining here.” Too much to share where the hell is “Here”?
The moot question gambit: “Who else is willing to say I support the Constitution of the United States?” Irony: posted by a defender of the January 6 insurrection. Another is: “How many would fight for their country if we were invaded?” Like to answer: “Depends on my schedule.”
Posts imploring “Can I get a like?” will get a frowny face dislike. A poster asks: Are you brave enough to post that you want Joe Biden and Kamala Harris “out of there”? Plenty brave, I answer. Just not that naive to engage in futile gestures.
The Darwin award goes to the post challenging Americans who threw off the yoke of George III to throw off the tyranny of Congress. Huh? Where does that leave us, class?
Which takes us to the other big social media reveal: Has no one actually (you know) read the Constitution?!
Lighting tiny candles against the darkness
In response to such idiocies Blaska deploys a gallery of images, depending on the pH of his stomach acid. Weird Al wearing a tinfoil hat is a favorite. Joe Pesci chortling in Goodfellas is a good one. Our favorite, “Sick and Tired Man,” is shown above. We have learned that an image of Hitler laughing at something he read in the newspaper will get you thrown in Facebook prison with the pedophiles said to be running the World Order from Epstein’s island.
An insurrectionist demands the immediate arrest of Barack Obama, even if it means widespread riots. (Or especially if it does, as one suspects.) This provocation excites keyboard warriors in a crescendo of faux patriotism capped by response of a “Yes, a horse and a rope, southern-style.” People actually put their names on that kind of hate!
The Trump-Really-Won resistance warns:
“The five most used words in the coming weeks and months will be:
‘We tried to tell you.’”
They’ve been saying that since November 3! People, quit spinning your wheels! Come into the light!
Which takes us to the censorship issue. We are not First Amendment absolutists. Libel is actionable. Fire in a crowded theater and all that. But Americans have the right to be wrong about their politics. Certainly, Joe Biden lacks no outlets for his version of the truth (when he is able to enunciate it). We try to do our part on a personal basis.
Yet, Facebook put the kibosh on scandals exposed by Hunter Biden’s laptop until after the election. Blaming the Chinese for Covid landed you in the Facebook hoosegow. The social media giant recently posted a “Correction” refuting claims that Biden is causing inflation. Folks, that’s a matter of opinion, certainly! Facebook, Twitter, et al are platforms, not publishers.

The less I spend on social media, the better I feel.
With the exception of a few decent people I’ve met, it’s mostly a sewer. This is especially true of Facebook. It’s full of pretense, phony friendships, false bravado, slacktivism, fake & manipulated news, drama, outrage, stupidity, and as you pointed out, censorship.
What did we do before social media, you ask? We actually lived.

After returning from AZ, yesterday, Conservative Janel Brandtjen, (R-Menomonee Falls) chair of The Campaigns and Elections Committee, added her voice to Conservative Tim Ramthun, (R-Kewaskum), calling for a comprehensive and transparent forensic election audit.
Such a review is warranted considering the amount of dark private money, Zuckerbux, that went into
fixing,fortifying Wisconsin’s election during the panDEMic.(The word ‘Dem’ surrounded by ‘panic’, … lest the crisis goes to waste.)
No word from Speaker Vos, yet, and I’m not holding my breath. We need to take legislative action to restore our trust, but Vos is another invertebrate, mushy, middle-of-the-road moderate.
Are all y’all happy for this heroic attempt to investigate electoral irregularities?

Can’t remember where I read this yesterday, but I think auditors found something like 74,000 dubious ballots. Given these findings and others like it, I’d say we have a reason to be skeptical.
I harbor no fantasies of Trump being inaugurated. We’re stuck with Biden. But why is it wrong to have legitimate questions?

Questions? Good for you. Breaking into the Capitol to threaten Congress? No. Fantasizing that #45 will be re-inaugurated August 13? Foolish. Subscribing to theories of bamboo ballots and Hugo Chavez jiggering machines? Borderline crazy. But if you like questions, you won’t mind Liz Cheney and Adam Kinsinger asking a few of their own.

Asking legitimate questions isn’t the same thing as subscribing to wackjobbery or condoning crime, which I disavow. Please don’t lump all of us into the same group.
I think what most of us want is the truth, honesty, and fairness, regardless of who asks the questions and regardless of who’s perpetrating the violence.
Does anyone remember May of last year when protesters clashed with Secret Service and Trump had to be escorted away for his own safety? Or all last summer when our cities were destroyed and cops attacked?
Is it truthful, fair and honest to ignore these events and pretend they didn’t happen, while focusing solely on J6? I’d feel better about Cheney’s, Kinzinger’s, the media’s, politicians’ and “concerned patriots” intentions if they also asked questions about these events. They don’t.
Focusing on one event while disregarding the others leads one to come to the conclusion that this is more about getting back at Trump than it is about real justice.

We have big problems in this country. Record violent crime, inflation, reversal to energy dependence, censorship of conservative voices, a border crisis (while Cubans, who overwhelmingly vote Republicans are strongly told not to come), to name a few.
Why focus on Donald Trump? Why focus solely on J6 while ignoring leftist anarchism? For heavens sakes, Trump had to be removed for his own safety last year, yet we’re not supposed to talk about this?

I believe those 74,000 “dubious” ballots were discovered by the AZ forensic audit. When there’s 74,000 more mail-In ballots counted than mailed out, … yeah, … it’s dubious.
Perhaps the Dems did a better job of registering all the new illegal alien voters.
Zhou Bai-Din allegedly won AZ by 10,457 votes. Here in the Cheddarhood, Zhou Bai-Din allegedly won by 20,695. According to The Gateway Pundit, the number of dubious ballots here in the Cheddarhood is 157,299, almost 8 times the margin of victory.

Yes, the Arizona audit discovered those ballots. What other discrepancies are there? And why is it, if we dare to question the results, which is our right as Americans, we’re labeled as conspiracy theorists or of condoning an insurrection?

Speaking of “the sorry state of American grammar”: In the current issue of the Capital Times, one reads, in the fourth paragraph of the lead article entitled “Eating, Interrupted,” the following: “The amount of students requesting care at UW-Madison’s University Health Services ….” I think it was in fifth grade (maybe before) when we were taught the difference between ‘number’ and ‘amount.’ People don’t come in amounts. Guess the copy editor was off attending a seminar on systemic racism in the workplace that day.
