Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Is America in a transitional period?

‘The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides …’

“It was a Black Lives Matter Groundhog Day,” writes Kyle Smith at National Review of Suunday night’s 04-25-21 Oscar telecast.

If a single five-minute period went by without someone reminding us of something horrible, I guess I missed it. When your comedy highlight is Glenn Close’s butt dance, you’ve got a little problem.”

When will Dr. Fauci tell America it’s O.K. to laugh again? The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences gave its best acting awards to two white people who had won before instead the six (out of 10) persons of color nominated, including sentimental favorite, the late Chadwick Boseman.

Instead we watched Pulp Fiction on the flatscreen and was blown away by Samuel L. Jackson, especially his bravura closing scene in the cafeteria dealing with the Ringo and Honey Bunny and a trigger-happy Vincent Vega. Holding his gun on the two white robbers:

“Normally, both your asses would be dead as f**king fried chicken, but you happen to pull this s**t while I’m in a transitional period so I don’t wanna kill you, I wanna help you. But I can’t give you this case, it don’t belong to me. Besides, I’ve already been through too much s**t this morning over this case to hand it over to your dumb ass.”

Pulp Fiction is that rarity — a crime/action movie that is also a comedy that ventures into introspection as much as The Razor’s Edge. Seen it many times but took away extra layers of meaning Sunday. (Jackson lost to Martin Landau for Ed Wood in the best supporting category 1995.)

Jules in Pulp Fiction hands over wallet

‘The truth is you’re the weak. And I’m the tyranny of evil men.
But I’m tryin’, Ringo. I’m tryin’ real hard to be the shepherd.’

Ma’Khia’s knives

Thanks to our friend Earl Kielley, who a good 30 years ago served on the Madison school board when teachers still taught reading and writing, not critical race theory. Earl alerts WI State Journal readers that Freedom Inc. wants teachers to sign their pledge to:

Stand as an advocate and witness for students and parents threatened by any law enforcement agency” and “not to call police on children.” Also, not to call police on children for fights.

Freedom Inc. makes no exception for children threatened by Ma’Khia’s knives. She was black and cop was white. That simple STUPID. Would like to know how many teachers have signed the pledge — an attempt to supersede official district policy, although probably not by much. Freedom also tried to jam police phone lines demanding a police officer be fired, WKOW-27 reports.

Making the same point we have made, Andrew McCarthy reports:

Not a shred of evidence was introduced at the trial that Derek Chauvin is a racist. None. … The prosecutors who aggressively urged the jury to convict Chauvin of murder never intimated that racism played any role in the crimes. They convincingly argued that he was a bad cop, not a racist cop. The police did not hunt down George Floyd. … Instead, the police responded to a citizen complaint.

Critical race insanity

On September 22, 2020, President Trump issued Executive Order #13950, “Combatting Race and Sex Stereotyping.”

This ideology is rooted in the pernicious and false belief that America is an irredeemably racist and sexist country; that some people, simply on account of their race or sex, are oppressors; and that racial and sexual identities are more important than our common status as human beings and Americans.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: That common sense order was revoked by President Biden on his first day in office.

If America is in a transitional period, who wins?

Few have stood up to the rioters, race baiters, and criminals. They have been empowered. Why would they stop now?

New York can’t even fill a recent academy class and police departments are having trouble with recruitment.

Our schools and academia are indoctrination camps, churning out more of the same. Politicians are too weak to fight back.

Family life with actual parents is becoming obsolete.

Transition? I think at least some of this is the new normal.

“Is America in a transitional period?” If by “transitional period” you mean a headlong descent into madness, then yes. The Oscars is as good a cultural marker as any. Compare the dismal farce of last night with the Oscars of 1939, when best picture nominees included Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Stagecoach, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Ninotchka, Dark Victory, Goodbye Mr. Chips, and Wuthering Heights. Nominees for best actor/actress included Clark Gable, James Stewart, Laurence Olivier, Bette Davis, Greta Garbo, and Vivien Leigh (to be fair, that was back when you actually had to have talent to become a movie star). In 2021, fewer than half of the public had seen any of the movies nominated, and I, for one, recognized maybe two of every ten persons who graced the stage. Instead of producing anything worth watching, Hollywood is now bending over backwards to satisfy the diversity police (who, by the way are never satisfied). I haven’t seen the ratings for this years Oscars but something tells me they’re deep in the toilet where they belong. Pick your own cultural bellwether and I guarantee you it follows a similar downward trajectory. What a horrible time to be alive.

And the elites still don’t get it. That’s how insulated and self absorbed they are.

They can’t begin to comprehend that we mere plebes don’t want to watch a group of wealthy, over privileged elites lecture to the rest of us about morals.

I used to be an avid movie goer. Can’t do it anymore.

They’ll still continue to make movies they think people ought to like as opposed to movies people actually like.

“What a horrible time to be alive.” Come now, Gary, it isn’t that bad. (Or is it?) Pop some corn and pick out a vintage movie. Yesterday I watched “Night of the Iguana”. Didn’t bother with the Oscars.

AVW: One o’ the best ever. A plot, exotic environs, major stars (!) and some up & coming co-stars. Whilst I was married to my Mexican princess, we visited that set and then took the long one-lane road way to view the hidden gem of a set for Predator -the wrecked helicopter greets one as you enter the cantina. Anyway, it was nice to re-visit mentally some good movies, versus McDormand’s “barkin’ spider” over a 5 gallon bucket…. And it WAS gratifyin’ that the stats fer last nite were horrid, as well they should have been.

You guys are nuts if you think Hollywood is anything but a business. They’ll make movies that people want to see because that’s how they make money. If those movies aren’t to your tastes…well, they aren’t to your tastes. So what? Get over yourselves.

      1. ABC’s telecast of the Oscars hit an all-time low with an average of 9.85 million viewers watching on Sunday, a drop of 58% from last year according to Nielsen. The previous low was in 2020 with 23.6 million viewers. Is THAT how they make money, A-Bob?

        A-Bob,

I agree, RE: Taste. In the w-a-y back the movie watchers wanted/demanded: Drama (Gone w/ the wind), Madcap Humor (My Gal Friday) and Sophisticated Mysteries (The Thin Man, Maltese Falcon, etc.), and more.

That said, nowadays the movies are made to Hollywood’s tastes, (not mine & I hope not yours…).

You must be an absolute stitch discussing movies & books, past & present. Oh Snap, it’s YOU, A-Bobster.

A question for ya: Do folks still “Laugh Up their Sleeves”? And do YOU notice when they do ???

Hollywood doesn’t make money from the Oscars ceremony, Dave. Sure, it’s publicity, but it’s always been, in my lifetime, a bloated extravaganza of schlock that I rarely watched and was never entertained by. Mostly technical “chief gaffer” awards no one outside of the industry could understand. Yeah, TV viewership was way down, but so was movie viewership. It wasn’t because of the Hollywood Elite dictating to us plebes. Maybe you guys have heard of Coronavirus?
Georgesson?: “Get off my lawn!” “No music’s been as good as it was when I was in high school!” Get over yourself.

And further, George; “…movies are made to Hollywood’s tastes?” You probably also think political leaders lead. They don’t start parades, they find ‘em and get out in front of them. Likewise, Hollywood doesn’t dictate society’s entertainment tastes, it reflects them. Sorry. It’s just a business.

A Voice in the Wilderness: you misunderstand, I DO enjoy movies, and as an arts major back in the day, I wasn’t raised by wolves. It’s just that after many months of not visiting this blog I drop by and find the same bunch of crabby, aggrieved, Trump-loving old white men cursing the darkness, blaming the “elites” and the progressive agenda for the downfall of everything. Am I repetitious? Sure, but around here it’s Groundhog Day.

“Pick your own cultural bellwether and I guarantee you it follows a similar downward trajectory.”

Very true. It’s everywhere: in the publishing world, the media, academia, stores, corporate America. Seems wherever we go, Progressive agenda is touted as the new normal.

Ray Dalio thinks we’re in a transitional period due to the long term debt cycle. Social unrest is just part of that. The winners will likely be the Chinese.

Of course they will win. We all know they eat very little meat. According to Fox Biden’s climate plan will limit you to 4 lbs of beef a year. On par with the China diet. Between that and only drinking plant based beer we are doomed. I wonder if Hannity is going to endorse long grain or short grain rice.

Ah yes, just sit right down and stay for a spell and I’ll tell you a magical tale, a tale of a ship named Cullors who got a great deal of money by stealing it from the uninformed to purchase for her a house or two or three or more.
    https://nypost.com/2021/04/10/inside-blm-co-founder-patrisse-khan-cullors-real-estate-buying-binge/

According to the article, even Black folk can’t seem to call her out on this without risking some sort of slamming from social media.

Funny how it works this way for the Marxists. Steal under the threat of violence, all the meanwhile supporting the very group, (the abortion industry), that has seen the killing of some 20 million black babies in the wombs of their mothers since 1973!

    And this: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/did-you-know-black-lives-matter-supports-abortion-homosexuality-anti-family-agenda

Karl would be right proud of you Patrisse. OOPS! I’ve said that a WHITE person, who was the founder of Communism, would be proud of the fact that the BLACK co-founder of Black Lives Matter has done so well for herself in the purchase of real estate.

    Or maybe he wouldn’t.

Here are his words on private land ownership:

“Here, in small-scale agriculture, the price of land, a form and result of private landownership, appears as a barrier to production itself. In large-scale agriculture, and large estates operating on a capitalist basis, ownership likewise acts as a barrier, because it limits the tenant farmer in his productive investment of capital, which in the final analysis benefits not him, but the landlord.” (Das Kapital, III. Band, 2. Teil, S. 346-47.)[3]

Patrisse you are doing a fine job of helping Satan himself luring the souls of many into Hell. You, along with all the rest of the living and the dead, will be judged for every, and I do mean EVERY thing you have done in this world come judgement day.
