Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

How long will Madison ‘progressives’ resist body cameras?

After the Chauvin conviction.

Former Madison WI mayor Dave Cieslewicz: “George Floyd’s brother, Philonise … talked about bans on choke holds, the curtailing of qualified immunity and requiring that police officers have their body cameras on at all times. Yet … Madison city government has itself tied up in knots with committees studying the issue to death while the mayor is providing no leadership at all. Meanwhile, two-thirds of police departments our size now employ the cameras and there are more all the time. The Madison Police Department and former Council President Sheri Carter, who is Black. support them.”

CNN on-line (News, not opinion. Supposedly): “The law finally worked.”

Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes: “As an officer of the law, I believe that today justice has prevailed. We hear you; this moment matters. The Madison Police Department is prepared to stand in solidarity with our community as we grieve and process the events of May 25th, 2020.”

Andrew Sullivan in National Review: “While the guilty verdicts are rational and defensible, the speedy nature of the decision could lead to problems for prosecutors in the appellate process. I’ve been more skeptical than most commentators about the intent proof on the two murder counts (felony murder and depraved-indifference homicide), I thought the evidence on the manslaughter count — “culpable negligence,” for which it is unnecessary for prosecutors to prove criminal intent — was daunting. … nonetheless, there is a serious question about whether Derek Chauvin got a fair trial.

Trending on social media: “Derek Chauvin immediately put his hands behind his back to be handcuffed. Imagine if George Floyd had done the same.”

National Review editorial: “Even acknowledging that he resisted arrest, … there is simply no excusing the manner of his detention. … George Floyd died because Derek Chauvin was a bad cop. … The high profile nature of the case is likely to create pressure on the judge to mete out a harsh sentence, attorneys said.”

The Nation: “Bringing the cops to heel cannot happen through individual prosecutions. We need to address systemic racism in law enforcement and the permissive culture of violence against people of color. … It can be addressed with funding — by defunding and demilitarizing the police.”

Wall Street Journal editorial: “It would be nice to think all of this would prompt reflection among those who have exploited Floyd’s killing for political purposes. But it probably won’t. Even after the verdict, commentators who applauded the jury gave last year’s riots in American cities the credit for inspiring it. Not the facts. Not the law. But lawless protests.

“If a large faction of Americans really believe that only mayhem in the streets can guarantee justice in America, then this verdict will mean little and we are in for far more unrest ahead.”

We’ll have to see what happens with the Columbus Ohio shooting. The cop’s body cam clearly shows the “loving, peaceful” ” baby” is attacking the other girl with a knife. Progressives will need to determine if cameras do more to harm or further their narrative.

LeBron James has a picture of the officer with the blurb. “You’re next.” A sand timer icon and “#Accountability.”

Yet media, elected officials, and even some in law enforcement won’t bat an eye.

That’s a great point! If body cams go against the narrative…

Once again leftist violence and threats of violence work, as long as the leftist media continues to downplay, excuse, or ignore such. Leftist politicians egg it on. Mad Maxine basically threatened the jury earlier this week.

There have been a thousand “Jan. 6” and worse before and since that 3-hour beer belly putsch and selfiefest.

The government and media quietly acknowledged that Officer Sicknick died of natural causes (stroke is the result of a long process of physical deterioration) but no one cares.

So much as a hint of pushback from conservatives is going to be punished while leftists riot all over for years and get away with it.

You know it! And some of the people sworn to protect all of us are busy playing politics.

CNN: “Were the strokes that killed officer Sicknick after the Jan. 06 insurrection really ‘natural’? Some neurologists don’t think so.”

Medical Examiner Dr. Francisco Diaz told the Washington Post that “all that transpired on Jan. 06 “played a role” in his condition.

Stress can raise blood pressure leading to stroke, even in young people.

Strokes “can occur in individuals who do not have underlying coronary disease or other risk factors,” says Dr. Lindsey Rosman, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, University of NC School of Medicine.

U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick was also sprayed with a chemical known as bear spray.

      Natural causes? I doubt it.

        Certainly.

Please note that most conservatives vigorously denounced that event. What we’re bewildered by is how liberals can put laser focus on a few hours while ignoring the bloodshed caused by anarchistic leftists ALL SUMMER last year. Riots are still occurring throughout the country, not to the extent as last year, but enough to destroy lives.

About 40 police officer suicides this year SO FAR. Would be interesting to know if the rampant demoralization by leftists played a role in their desperate acts, but the left doesn’t care. They only “care” about poor Brian Sicknick because they think it elevates their cause. Just as they only care about black lives when it was taken by a cop.

Liberty: Of course rioting and bloodshed anywhere are sad and alarming. So is suicide and addiction among our police ranks. I was pointing out erroneous notions about strokes; I wasn’t virtue signaling. In the case of Officer Sicknick, it seems that the natural causes theory and victim-blaming are simpatico and convenient. Among other deaths on Jan 06 was the demonstrater shot dead at point-blank range by a Capitol cop.

Back to the topic of police body cameras for the MPD, I think they should be worn. By order of the mayor (fat chance) or Chief Barnes. Now. But Squire is right when he says the issue will be bottled up in a committee and overstudied.

Is he an activist or sworn officer? Is he as opinionated when innocent children are mowed down on city streets?

Along with announcing how his officers were prepared to protect everyone’s first amendment rights (good thing to do), it would have been nice to hear from him how acts of violence would not be tolerated in Madison streets.

Now that they’ve sliced their pound of flesh from Derek Chauvin, the left (loudly proclaiming that his show trial was not justice, just a rare instance of white privilege getting its comeuppance) are launching a “reform” of the criminal justice system to rid it of “systemic racism” (is anyone else as tired of hearing that phrase as I am?). Even the doddering old coot in the White House is parroting those words–despite having no clue what they might mean. Prepare for the next wave in the tsunami of dangerous leftist lunacy.

I don’t think most Progressives now what systemic means and that it’s not the same thing as occasional.

That doddering old coot in the White House is a racist who was concerned that school integration would have his perfect progeny forced to learn in a “jungle” and wrote the 1990s crime bill that enacted the closest thing to systemic racism we have seen in the past 4 decades. It resulted in untold numbers of Black men receiving long prison terms.

But with a D behind their names actual racist politicians get a free pass. Look at Governor KKK Blackface in Virginia.

Provable facts. And when confronted not too long ago with the notorious crime bill he authored, and its significant impact on Black male incarceration, he proudly defended it and wouldn’t think of apologizing for it.

Typical racist D, and they get away with it.

I’ll agree, it’s nonsense in that regard. As is the current Governor of Virginia appearing in BlacKKKface in his medical school yearbook. And getting the typical D free pass on that.

Biden’s opposition to Marijuana legalization is another example of his racism. I have a feeling he will be forced to “evolve” on that.

There are a few comments here about Shon Barnes & they DO bear notice. Barnes doesn’t bode well for majority of the community RE: law abidin’ citizens, businesses and property owners.

Local NBC-15 reporter Taj Mahal, (as large as the edifice itself) showed VID of “MDSN leaders watching the verdict”. Shon Barnes clapped vigorously as the verdict went against a brother at arms.

    Nice… Real nice….

After we have all seen the video and screenshots that clearly show the deceased attacking with knife in hand, NBC this morning grudgingly admits “police found a knife on the ground.”
