We stipulate: Resisting arrest, by itself, does not justify dying at the hands of police. But it can explain why.
The hard left has managed to turn George Floyd into a martyr in the same pantheon as St. Stephen. The man has been sanctified via murals boarding up countless storefronts smashed in his name. (Mindful that this is Good Friday) George Floyd died for the sins of AmeriKKKa’s racist police, as the Defund the Cops contingent would have it. Modern-day slave catchers just wanna murder innocent black men. Never mind that the four officers charged in Floyd’s death include a person of color.
Not just the organized BLM movement — our schools, media, and politicians teach vulnerable minds that they are VICTIMS of police and the white “power structure”!
George Floyd is the wrong kind of hero
A police sergeant told us that the number of youth gang members here in Madison WI number in the thousands. Including Black Disciples, MS-13, and Latin Kings. The sergeant puts the total membership of youth gangs in Madison in the low thousands. (!) He said many of the 14- and 15 year olds already have 40 or more contacts with police. They pose on social media with firearms and rolls of one hundred dollar bills.
These kids have learned they can get away with their activities without punishment or be released after a few days in juvenile detention which only serves as a finishing school and achievement badge. Because of racial disparity, don’t you know.
Thanks to the wrong lessons being taught around George Floyd’s demise. The Werkes would like to revise the curriculum:
Do not commit crime. (Floyd was suspected of passing funny money.)
Do not resist arrest. Police are not going to let you go free just because you do — although if enough defunding occurs, there won’t be any police when you call. It must be said, too, Madison police — like those most every place else — will not pursue a speeding teenager through city streets.
Do not do drugs. To the nine questions asked in the last thrilling installment of this blogge, we add a 10th: To what degree did the fentanyl and methamphetamine in George Floyd’s compromised system — a bad heart exacerbated by his exertions — cause his death?
Floyd broke all three rules
National Review’s Andrew C. McCarthy has been covering the trial in Minneapolis:
• The video and audio recordings are clear: Floyd, at 6′-4″ and 223 pounds was so determined not to be placed in the back of the squad car that, even though he was handcuffed, four grown men — police officers trained in the use of force, and pushing and pulling for all they were worth — could not get him to take a seated position.
• Floyd began saying I can’t breathe before being placed on the ground.
• Who called paramedics? Police.
• McCarthy also claims “Police surveillance video showed that the cops were not pressing body weight heavily on Floyd.”
This does not mean the officers’ prolonged restraint of Floyd later on, as his life faded, was justified. That is the central issue the jury will have to resolve.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: We suspect that more than a few law and order types feel they have to give one up to the opposition in order to prove their fair mindedness and it may as well be Officer Derek Chauvin.

I hope you’re wrong about that. Floyd appears to have died of a self-administered drug overdose, and if so, acquittal is the only fair verdict. Chauvin is entitled to an impartial determination of that issue; the public equally has an investment in a fair trial (the realization of which I am skeptical about). A guilty verdict merely to appease a howling mob disserves all of us, not just Chauvin.

If the CEO’s of Coke and Delta don’t need facts to substantiate wascism and voter suppression, then why does the jury need facts about Floyd? Just proceed to the nearest tree. That is all we need to “know” by Lester Holt’s calculus.

I’m sorry if my post yesterday seemed flippant, (not apologizing, just sorry if you felt that way). I have been disgusted with this story since day one. It is “Yellow Journalism” at its worst, the “Battleship Maine” all over again, and a concocted call to war. “The Squire” and the rest of you are doing an excellent job examining the facts, so I’ll add a few observations:
Initial contact— People often refer to criminals as “bad actors”, but actually, the opposite is true. They are often the most accomplished actors in the world. George Floyd certainly pulled out all the stops and attempted every ruse at his disposal. Police have to deal with this behavior on a daily basis. The question of whether an incident is a true psychotic episode, or just theatrics, is beyond the purview of law enforcement. And NO social worker, paramedic, or mental health professional is going to examine an agitated, un-subdued criminal.
Knee on the neck— Control the head = control the body, this is true whether you are walking your dog or your third-grade teacher is dragging you by the ear to the Principal’s Office. Immobilizing the NECK secures the head, while allowing the subject the to adjust it for comfort. Pressure on the “carotid triangle” usually results in unconsciousness in seconds. (not likely here) Pressure on the trachea stops respiration (and talking). Talking while unable to “breathe” could be pulmonary edema and congestive heart failure.
Chauvin had an opportunity to re-assess the situation once Floyd stopped struggling. Why he did not is to be determined. Perhaps he mistook it for compliance. This is the moment, and subsequent actions, that should be on trial. STILL NOT MURDER.

George Floyd isn’t just the “wrong” kind of hero–he’s no hero at all. He was a drug-addled ne’er-do-well and petty criminal who ran afoul of the law once too often. Of course, this hasn’t prevented him from being transfigured into a secular saint by BLM, Democrats, and the MSM (aka the Ruling Triumvirate). By my count, he had three separate funerals–even the Pope only gets one. There are probably more murals of him (usually on boarded-up storefronts) than of all the saints in all the churches in America. His name was chanted for months by mobs across the country in a kind of parodic liturgy. I predict his trial will make the OJ Simpson farce look like the platonic ideal of justice. In what other country does a court house have to transform itself into a bunker of concrete barriers and barbed wire in order to forestall violence in case the “wrong” verdict is reached? I knew the start of Obama’s third term would only accelerate this country’s headlong descent into madness, but who could predict just how sleazy and disheartening the journey would be?

After one year of protests and outrage, the news coverage/direction is not surprising. Could it be any different after so much “Woke”-ness goin’ on by self-flagellatin’ folks ( And groups and companies)? Sure is unfair though, and thus far we see no Chauvin support by colleagues near or far. Thus, we can assume the terror is sublime/universal against laws and law enforcement. ME? I think ol’ George was a ne’er-do-well w/ medical issues who shoulda just A. Obeyed the law or B. Obeyed the officers. But that’s too obvious, and of course, we have so much guilt to expiate.

Here is what I think. A while back I was told by a Black co-worker of mine that their son, who is in high school here in Madison, told them that he could get any type of pistol he wanted within an hour, delivered to their house for $50.00; no questions asked.
The question we must ask ourselves is: Why is this happening?
The answer I have found is that many of our young people have found that the high in life comes from living it in the fullest for themselves; but in the wrong direction. All of their mentors have pointed to this direction. The school systems have become a vast wasteland of depravity. It has been said that in less than 100 years we went from teaching Latin and Greek to our High School students, to teaching remedial english to our College students.
Even our Priests and Ministers and other members of the Clergy have remained silent over the last 50-60 years about the break down of the family structure and the failure of the people to observe and to lift up, the sanctity of All Human Life!
What I would ask, what I would pray that our young people of whatever race, color or creed do is to put before them better role models to look up to. Role models like one of my personal favorites: Denzel Washington.

There are many other positive role models of every race, color, sex or creed for us to follow, all we have to do is look for them. They are all around us, from throughout time.
If you really want to follow a positive role model crack open a Bible. Follow the life of Jesus Christ.
Now there is a role model that EVERY PERSON should follow!

Yes, I know it is Easter Sunday. Yes, I know many of you will say in response to my words; why are you putting this forth today of all days? But I have to! You see, despite the warmer weather, it is snowing outside.
Many people have asked me why I did not vote for good ole Joe. To this point, I have not been forthcoming with the reason as I did not have the words to express how I feel about ole Joe or about what has been going on in America since the 70’s. So on this Easter Sunday I am going to throw down the gauntlet and ask those of you who consider yourselves Christians, especially you Catholic Christians, to consider the following words that I could have never expressed with the clarity that was spoken here.

We either believe and ACT as WE BELIEVE in One God the Creator of all things seen and unseen or we don’t.
Otherwise, Easter Sunday is just another day of the week, just like any other day.

Now, I’m going to follow up on what I just wrote. Many of you will ask, what does this have to do with George Floyd?
Here is what it has to do with George Floyd.
America has and continues to struggle with the idea of having an Honor vs. Dignity culture. What do I mean by that? Well an honor culture means that MY HONOR is most important to me. Any perceived slight or offense to that honor requires me to act in a violent manner. Kind of like Tommy in the movie Good Fellows. In a Dignity Culture the value of ALL HUMAN LIFE is expressed through the willingness of the citizens to stand up for ALL HUMAN LIFE and DEFEND it.
In my opinion, through abortion, America has embraced the honor culture. We no longer defend all human life as not all human life is seen as convenient or wanted at certain times.
George Floyd did not value human life. In short. George Floyd was a scumbag who cared little about the value of human life.
But, he still was a human being!
You see, in America we are at a cross roads where we all have to decided in which direction we will turn. We either keep going down the direction of honor culture or we turn back to the Dignity Culture.
If we re-embrace the Dignity Culture we will no longer tolerate the actions that people like George Floyd and the rioters that rioted in his name have displayed but we will also not tolerate the unnecessary actions that cause the deaths of our fellow citizens from those who enforce the law in our name.
That is what I wrote has to do with George Floyd.

One final thought on this. In regards to Officer Chauvin. Did Officer Chauvin in an attempt to control the actions of George Floyd, use unnecessary actions or knowingly prolong lawful actions in order to knowingly cause death or great bodily harm to George Floyd?
That is the question. That is the question that has to be answered by a jury as it should be.
