The gray labcoats here at Blaska Policy Werkes believe in science as much as any good Madison liberal with a yard sign out front. We’re just not certain what science to believe. We doubt, for instance, whether converting all of GM’s vehicles to electric is going to save the environment. Somehow and in some way, all that extra electricity will need be generated from some substance, then transported via transmission lines to where it is needed. (Preferably through Greenpeace members’ back yards.)
Emerging science (is it ever settled?) now upends those food pyramids that promoted eating just a morsel of red meat and fat but encouraged consuming burlap bags full of carbohydrate-rich grain. Now, like that pendulum, nutritional science is swinging toward more steak, pork, eggs — and yes — fat! The Wall Street Journal asks, “What if meat is our healthiest diet?“
“Eating high-fat, low-carbohydrate foods has helped many people battle obesity, diabetes and other health problems.”
Gimme the needle!
Everyone is needling the 33-year-old son of a Milwaukee Bucks owner for jumping ahead in line to get his Covid-19 shot. Like the owner of the White Star Line who jumped into the lifeboat off the Titanic. Worse, Alex Lasry is a hedge fund manager — a profession in even more ill repute these days thanks to the GameStoppers. (It is only a matter of time that hedge fund managers will have to notify authorities of their presence in woke cities.) Fortunately for young Lasry, Alex is a well connected Democrat — the party of wealth and privilege.
Even so, we give young Alex a pass. The Pfizer vaccine has to be frozen colder than that witch’s mammary and used right away once a vial is opened. Too much bureaucracy is getting in the way of delivering the stuff. Lasry pleads for understanding:
“My wife got a call from her uncle that works in a facility that had extra doses that were going to go to waste if not used right away. With Lauren early in her pregnancy, we wanted to ensure our home, and entire community is safe for everyone.”
So Alex Lasry is doing his part! We’re all in this together! We agree with (DISTURBING CONTENT ALERT!) Gov. Tony Evers: “They should just get it in somebody’s arm.” Except that he has not. Wisconsin ranks 48th in Covid-19 vaccine distribution. Higher than that, if you count only hedge fund managers.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Alex Lasry took one for the team! Pass the bacon grease.

You’re right, in most cases science is unsettled, yet it’s regularly weaponized to prove an ideological position.
When leftists say “Follow the science” what they mean is: I’m right, you’re wrong, and I have an obscure, biased, or weakly-designed study to prove it, so shut up and don’t even ask questions, you illiterate.
Speaking of food pyramids, we kids were taught to eat the fat from our meat back in the day; it was thought to have nutritional value. Yet things like obesity, chronic illness, and depression were rare. Go figure.

Generations prior weren’t wasteful. They found good uses for the things that most of us snub our noses at today.
I’ve noticed that people who claim to care about the environment tend to be some of the most wasteful. Don’t talk about saving the planet from climate change, then engage in practices that increase our carbon footprint.

Exactly. The arrogance of the elites to lecture the rest of us about climate as they board their private jets and power their multi-million dollar estates. Is John Kerry not the slightest embarrassed?
Everyday leftists are not much better from where I sit. They preach to the rest of us as they order takeout with its plastic waste, rush out to get the latest smartphone, over-consume, and rely on data centers to fuel their social media addiction. All they seem good for are shaming, preaching, and attending demonstrations, which by the way is hard on the planet when you think of all those posters, air & car travel, etc.
When I see them volunteering en masse to clean beaches & poor communities, supporting wildlife centers, and making sacrifices on the consumer end, then I’ll take them seriously.
Right now they’re nothing but virtue signaling woketopians.

You need to elaborate, instead of just saying “Wrong.” And when you say “most of the studies” which are you referring to? There are thousands of studies being performed on any given topic.
Also, please re-read my comment. I’m not saying that all scientific studies are weakly-designed. I’m referring to leftists who weaponize science to prove personal narrative or ideology. Big difference.
