A movement derailed, democracy threatened

Otherwise, the assault on our nation’s Capitol was ‘Mostly peaceful’ 

We say again: those who would subvert the Constitution in order to overturn an election are Republicans In Name Only.

Among the many fools and idiots who descended on Washington D.C. Wednesday 01-06-21 (a date that truly will live in infamy), some took down Old Glory and replaced it with a Trump flag. That is the perfect metaphor, is it not?

We had to destroy democracy, trample the Constitution in order to save one-man rule.

In the wake of Wednesday’s attempted putsch, a Fox News idiot named Brian Kilmeade told Martha McCallum that what Trump does over the next two weeks, his last in office, will determine whether he would be a political player in the years to come. No it doesn’t. Two weeks, two years — it’s over for Trump. You burn the Reichstadt and history renders a verdict of guilty. We hear there’s a vacant Air BnB on the island of St. Helena waiting for this guy.

What the poor man cannot understand is that he defeated himself. Not magical machines, not nefarious clerks, not  judges blackmailed by Jeffrey Epstein (he really didn’t hang himself!). We said in our last post [Note the poster issued before the rally] that Trump was finished after brought down Georgia’s two Republican senators in this week’s run-off election. After encouraging Thursday’s riot is is persona non grata. 

The irony is Trump short-circuited his own attempt to derail the election. An even greater irony, he made a hero of Mitt Romney, the only Republican who voted to convict in the impeachment trial. The indentured servants here at the Stately Manor remarked that it was unusual for a speech on the Senate floor to get a round of applause. But that august body did applaud — Democrats and Republicans. An excerpt:

Now we gather due to a selfish man’s injured pride, and the outrage of supporters who he has deliberately misinformed for the past two months and stirred to action this very morning. What happened here today was an insurrection incited by the President of the United States.

 Sen. Romney continues:

Those who choose to continue to support his dangerous gambit by objecting to the results of a legitimate democratic election will forever be seen as being complicit in an unprecedented attack against our democracy. … That will be their legacy. I salute Senators Lankford, Loeffler, Braun, and Daines and I’m sure others [Ron Johnson, Marsha Blackburn] who, in the light of the day’s outrage, have withdrawn their objection.

For any who remain insistent on an audit in order to satisfy the many people who believe that the election was stolen, I’d offer this perspective — no congressional audit is ever going to convince these voters, particularly when the president will continue to say that the election was stolen. The best way we could show respect for the voters who were upset is by telling them the truth!

We encourage you to also hear Lindsay Graham, one of Trump’s most loyal lieutenants and always entertaining! Must also admit, President-elect Joe Biden was good, too.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Trump was scheduled to address the Republican National Committee today. That’s not going to happen. The man is persona non grata to everyone but Republicans In Name Only. There is talk of invoking the 25th Amendment.
