We predict: Year 2020 to end midnight 12-31-20!
The no longer-white lab coats at Blaska Policy Werkes (and Tanning Salon) fired up Ol’ Sparky (our Eisenhower-era you know what) to predict what lies ahead in the New Year so that you can be prepared for tonight’s virtual New Year’s Eve parties. Loyal readers may remember that we predicted that 2020 would be the greatest year in American history, that Trump would be re-elected by a landslide, and that the Wisconsin Badgers would win the national football championship. (We blame Dominion voting machines.)
Now let’s get back to the future of 2021:
- The two Georgia Republicans are defeated, making “Comma La” Harris even more insufferable (which scientists thought impossible).
- State Street merchants apply for status as demilitarized zone, eligible for foreign aid.
- Shon Barnes backs out; PFC names Brenda Konkel next chief of police.
- Chamber of Commerce members blast bullhorns and bright lights at midnight visit to Brandi Grayson’s residence.
- After beating K.C. Chiefs in Super Bowl, celebrating Packers drop and break Lombardi trophy.
- Council fires Milwaukee police chief Alfonso Morales for a second time.
- Robin Vos returns a phone call from Gov. Evers, leaves message.
- Madison common council legalizes crime to reduce jail population.
- Texas declares itself the Second Republic of Texas, remembers Alamo.
- Iceberg that calved off Antarctica named 52nd state after Puerto Rico but spoils Democrat plans by voting Republican.
- Hunter Biden sent to Las Vegas to learn the casino business under the protection of the Molinari family.
- Special prosecutor John “Bull” Durham indicts Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and “Nuke” LaLoosh for throwing the game.
- Council fires Milwaukee police chief Alfonso Morales for a third time.
- Dr. Fauci joins cast of Dr. Pimple Popper on the TLC channel.
- Trump wins Nobel Peace Prize. Obama returns his.
- Joe Biden wanders away from the White House in his jammies one night, requiring Kamala Harris to act as president under the 25th Amendment until he is found..
- Justice Brian Hagedorn rules in favor of conservatives but is minority in a 6-1 decision.
- Last Wisconsin Covid-19 case recorded on November 1. Madison public schools teach stolen car driver’s ed.
- Milwaukee police chief Alfonso Morales fired for a fourth time.
- Blaska Policy Werkes wins Pulitzer Prize for sheer audacity!

My fear is that tonight 2020 turns 21, —–and starts drinking!!!

I think that I would like to make some predictions myself.
1. Under the newly minted Harris administration, there will be a $2,000 dollar stimulus given to all Americans.
2. When the eviction moratorium ends on January 31st, possibly millions of Americans will find themselves homeless. Just like the dust bowl of the 1920’s, great caravans of cars will head south for warmth and jobs.
3. Many of these people who are also on the hook for car payments, credit card bills and so on, will not be able to pay them back.
4. Landlords and private individuals who built multi-million dollar rental and primary properties based on what was a booming economy will now go into default on their loans as well.
5. Big banks that lended the landlords and private individuals the money to build such properties will also end up in default as they will be broke as well.
6. The stimulus package will result in higher and higher costs which will further exasperate the strain on the poor and middle class as they will not have the money to pay for every day items. (Economics is like Physics, you must understand the laws of economics are like the laws of physics. You can’t give free money to everybody without inflation. This is like saying that what goes up, will stay up on it’s own.)
7. With the social divide that currently governs this country there will be great social unrest. Looting, robbing and killings will become common place.
8. More and more state governments will insist on greater and greater lockdowns.
9. Free speech will become a thing of the past.
10. Eventually the economy of the United States will collapse and we will enter into a period of time before the next world war that will result in the suffering and deaths of many Americans.
11. The next world war will be fought. Against who, I don’t know.
12. This I predict will happen before the end of the first term of the Harris administration. Joe Biden will not live to see the end of it as he will die of “natural causes”.
Yup, I know these predictions just suck, but considering the way the “shit show” of 2020 has gone, I don’t at this point see any other way out of it.

4 and 5 will happen sooner than you think, the COVID-19 response has taught many businesses that work from home is a viable and productive option, why pay for large commercial office space when it’s not needed.

You made good points with that statement. I can see why many employers would not want to have a brick and mortar building to have to pay for.
That said, I think that the ship has already sailed. The now nearly empty apartment buildings, dorms and schools that are empty, downtown Madison is devoid of the hustle and bustle it used to have.
I have long standing relationships with many small business people in the downtown area as I have been a customer in these establishments for years. I have been told by nearly all of them, that if it were not for their long term customers, they would have closed months ago.
Repeat the same scenario all across the country and you can see the end result is very predictable.

Okay, now I want to make a prediction on the future of Madison.
I predict:
1. With the current economic and social crisis happening, Madison will become more and more like Seattle, Portland, San Fransisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu and other major cities that have large encampments of homeless people that are strung out on meth and heroin.
2. Our city leaders will try the same methods of dealing with the “homeless problem” as the leaders of those communities have done. (This leads me to think about a quote has been attributed to the great Albert Einstein who supposedly said that “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.”)
3. These attempts to solve the “homeless problem” will not work as being homeless is not the problem; it is drug addiction, that is the problem.
4. Our city leaders will concentrate their efforts on “free needle exchanges”, de-criminalizing possession of small amounts of dangerous drugs like meth or heroin, tiny houses, affordable housing, soup kitchens, homeless shelters run by the city and so on.
5. This will lead to more and more crime and social unrest in Madison and in the communities that surround Madison as people who are drug addicted will flock here for these “Free” services.
6. Retail theft, rape, robberies, beatings, looting, defacing public and private property, as well as homicides will all become common place.
7. At the same time our “city leaders” will try to defund the City of Madison Police Department as they are somehow an example of “white privilege”.
8. This will lead to more and more crime, and predictably the ones most affected by the increase in crime will be the women and minorities in our community. (Which has the laws of unintended consequences written all over it as many can and will construe the results of these policies to be Racist, Misogynistic, Homophobic, and Transphobic.) (Although our city leaders will say that these issues are a result of us not spending enough money to solve the problem.)
9. The rest of the citizens of this community will either go to a self protection mode and buy more guns or they will sell their houses or give up their apartments and leave.
10. All attempts by the citizens of this community to put an end to this madness will fall on deaf ears as our Mayor and City Council think they have ALL the ANSWERS and will not listen to us.
And if you think I’m being a bit too harsh on our Mayor and City Council just take a look at the following links and tell me I’m wrong.
The majority of these links are from a major news organization, KOMO News, which is an ABC News Affiliate, not right wing news organizations like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and others of their ilk.
These links are just a start to the links to news journalists who live in these and other cities and have gotten fed up with the response by their city leaders to the problems their communities face. They are very concerned with these problems as they Live and Work and try to raise their families in these communities.
