New York Times stokes cancel culture

From Jonathan Turley:

The New York Times is under fire for its coverage of how an incoming Tennessee cheerleader was dumped from the team after the release of a three-second video in which she used a racial epithet. Times reporter Dan Levin gave a strikingly positive account of how Jimmy Galligan waited for years to release the video to do the most harm to Mimi Groves.

The article “A Racial Slur, a Viral Video, and a Reckoning,” is being cited as the ultimate celebration of the cancel culture in its tenor and lack of balance.  Everyone agrees that the use of the n-word was a terrible thing. However, the same standard does not seem to apply to professors who use racist and insensitive comments.  It would seem that, even if students are not accorded the same protections for faculty, universities should offer them the same opportunity for redemptive change.

After all, college is meant as place for personal growth for students.

Are the proponents of cancelling the cheerleader the same folks demanding leniency for those who have committed crimes as teenagers, arguing that their brains have not fully matured? Perhaps (in the name of consistency) the cheerleader ought have had to endure a restorative justice experience and have her thought crime expunged.

Found this yesterday: The actual Mimi Groves old 1:41 VID. More telling are the comments underneath. The Grey Lass has moral liability here. Hopefully no despairing actions/self-harm by the young lady.

Au contraire, it’s the preferred method of snowFLAKE Lefties who, due to blinding generational imbecility, are embarrassingly unable to persuade based on the force of their arguments.

Pretty tough thing to admit; you’re so thoroughly emasculated by cluelessly crippling stupidity that that your only course of action is to silence your critics.

Kirsten Powers lays it out flawlessly in her seminal The Silencing: How The Left Is Killing Free Speech

It gets worse (or better if you’re a Righty).

      Powers is a career Lefty!

Ah Lefty; so MUCH crushing ignominy, so little time!

I think it’s more than just “generational imbecility” (though there’s plenty of that). It’s also beccause they learned early on from parents and teachers that screaming and stamping their foot invariably got them whatever they wanted. And still does–so why bother with rational argument? Apparently saying the forbidden n-word is enough to get you erased from history but bonking a Chinese spy has no ramifications except for a fleeting moment of public embarrassment.

While a textbook example of “generational imbecility” lies just above your comment, your other revelation carries FAR more weight.

Were you a patron of the New York Times (which The Gotch wouldn’t even use to wrap fish [insulting to the fish]) you’d have no earthly idea that the CA-15 HoR (House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence/Intelligence Modernization and Readiness subcommittee, Chair: Strategic Technologies and Advanced Research subcommittees House Committee on the Judiciary Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet, The Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties subcommittees, and NOTEWORTHY public off-gasser) was, as you so indelicately put it, bonking a Chinese spy.

This begs the question: Just how effin’ STOOPID does Lefty deem their target audience.

The aforementioned example just above your comment supplies a pretty good idea…

“Just how ‘effin STOOPID does Lefty deem their target audience?” You can be of at least average intelligence and swallow their bilge whole if you’ve been deprived of the information necessary to form a rational opinion. “Lefty” knows that without the help of their lapdogs in the media, who supress what they want suppressed and exaggerate what they want exaggerated, they could convince very few intelligent adults to accept–let alone vote for–their toxic ideology.

Not much different than the conservative version of “cancel culture” where democracy is frowned upon and the will of the people is only something to be reckoned with when agreeable. Can’t help if she made a statement accepting responsibility for her actions, after all it seems trump and his supporters don’t accept responsibility for anything, preferring instead to seek pardons for their uncivilized and illicit behavior.

Funniest thing: VA Governor Black Face/b> Northam and VA LT. Governor Rapist/b> Fairfax were issued passes which sidestepped this responsibility that causes you such great consternation.

(Regarding the sidebar) Yes, Churchill was defeated by an avowed socialist despite leading Britain to victory in WW2, but tell the rest of the story: he was returned to office only a few years later. Does anyone seriously believe Biden will make it through the next four years? (When will the bookies start taking bets on how long he’ll last?) Sooner or later we’ll have our own socialist president in the person of Ms. Harris, which will be enough to usher in the second term of Donald Trump. All things come to those who wait ….
