The devil struggling for the remnants of Blaska’s soul is proposing that the irascible bloggeur assemble a small fleet of automobiles, pick-up trucks, bicycles, and tour buses. The vehicles will be parked in the driveway, on the front lawn, and on the street out front come next Thursday, Thanksgiving day.
Only to determine the alacrity with which some neighborhood hall monitor reports the Stately Manor to the public health Stasi. The betting line is the swat team busts its way through the reinforced front door as the three residents speak a few words of gratitude. (“Everyone, step away from the cranberries.”) The remaining chairs in the Great Feasting Room will be filled with those cardboard cut-outs one sees in otherwise vacant football stadiums. That includes dear departed grandma Audrey (“Ogwie” as the little guy called her).
To alleviate their embarrassment, we intend to serve the invading Polizei a generous slice of pumpkin pie crowned with authentic Kool Whip. The drumstick, on the other hand, is reserved for the Squire of the Manor. We Americans retain some rights, even here in the Peoples’ Republic of Madison WI amid the Covid lockdown.
For Madison/Dane County public health has mandated “no indoor gatherings, mass or otherwise.”

A New York Times headline proclaims “Trump was right!” NOW they admit it!

Schools, especially elementary schools, do not appear to have been major sources of coronavirus transmission, and remote learning is proving to be a catastrophe for many low-income children.
Trump’s Operation Warp Speed is already being recognized as one of history’s greatest public health mobilizations. Seems likely a vaccine — or vaccines, plural — will be available by Christmas (assuming Christmas won’t be outlawed). Joe Biden would not be president-elect (possibly) if the vaccine news had come out the last week in October.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Who knew that Thanksgiving would become such a political statement? State Rep-elect Francesca Hong (D-Madison) — a favorite of Comrade Nichols and Progressive Dane — wants it banned entirely! Something about white meat supremacy. We like the drumstick’s dark meat.

I provided a meta-analysis, a large “good” study (Danish study) and a Federalist article synopsis of several studies (including data from a NEJM article) with graphics and you “cannot locate anything to support your assertion”. I disagree; the data is pretty clear. Also, masking doesn’t pass the “whiff test”: if you step back and think about it, especially if one observes how most (all?) people dont wear them properly, dont replace/wash properly and are constantly touching the masks with their hands and then touching surfaces. I’d argue that masks are actually more of an infective SOURCE than a preventative.

All that Danish study proves is that SOME masking data was collected from SOME studies which were not robust. It’s like getting a bad burger at Five Guys in Toledo, and saying that the entire Five Guys chain has bad food…it certainly doesn’t prove that masking is innefectifve.

This isn’t hard-data, it’s just what you observed last time you went to Walmart. You saw some dopes doing it wrong — and now you’re saying that no one should wear a mask?

Sorry I don’t shop at Walmart. Seriously stand up, do a complete 360 and tell me most of the people are using masks properly. Very doubtful. I just came across another good synopsis of studies by the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons again refuting masks are useful. I will share the link but clearly you’re not paying attention because it does not match your narrative. Good luck with your “ignorance is bliss” approach, Big Gov loves folks like you!

I have never said that masks are a 100% solution. In fact, I made a comment above about them not being perfect. But they DO HELP. They slow things down. They make transmission less likely. And there are volumes of reputable research about that fact.
I can’t believe that any adult could hold this position: “well masks help, but they’re not a 100% solution, so I’m not going to do it.”

Again, not entirely clear how you are making that interpretation as the provided data shows masks are ineffective. Another way to say it is there is no difference between masks and no masks. The idea that masks “help a little” is pretty much refuted. But go ahead, wear your mask and disallow your family from gathering this Thanksgiving all you want. I wont.

If the CDC, Mayo Clinic, FDA – and every other respected scientist I can find says it’s a good idea to wear an N95 mask — then guess what?
