Must … get … Uncle Joe … across finish line!

Out here in the Werkes’ new rural retreat, we’re catching up with the news from the years’ worth of weekly Shopper Stoppers faithfully delivered to this long-abandoned redoubt — many still legible! News you can trust.

The gray lab coats here find the journalism in Madison’s morning daily pretty well balanced, except when they run an Associated Press story. Allegations of Hunter Biden’s influence peddling are not “unfounded.” (The edition of 10-26-20.) They may be unproven, but his laptop and the statement of his former business partner surely provide a foundation.

The news media has worked hard to alienate half of America. Their cover-up of the Bidens’ influence peddling is malpractice by omission, compared to committing every unsupported (ahem) utterance from Adam Schiff (today’s Joe McCarthy) to print. Here’s where we’re at:

“Washington Post columnist Thomas Rid said the quiet part out loud by telling the media:  ‘We must treat the Hunter Biden leaks as if they were a foreign intelligence operation — even if they probably aren’t.’” 

“Let that sink in for a second,” encourages law professor Jonathan Turley. Especially since the FBI and the director of National Intelligence have repeatedly discounted foreign interference. 

Of National Public Radio, Gerard Baker of the Wall Street Journal writes: “All Things, it seems, will not be Considered. In the long and dishonorable annals of journalistic cant, there have been few statements to compete with the one issued by National Public Radio last week explaining why it wouldn’t burden its listeners with any news about Hunter Biden.”

“We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don’t want to waste our listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions,” said Terence Samuels, the network’s managing editor for news.

William McGurn of the Wall Street Journal offers this example:

When Julie Swetnick asserted in 2018 — without any corroboration — that she witnessed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh participating in gang rapes at high-school parties, the Times ran the story the same day.  But when Ms. Reade accused Mr. Biden of sexual assault, the previous believe-the-woman standard was given the heave-ho, and the Times waited 19 days to report it.

Which brings us to the Twitter/Facebook censorship

“The decision by Twitter to attempt to shut down the circulation of the New York Post story [breaking Hunter’s laptop] … looked bad when it was made, looks even worse now that we have more of the back story and more evidence in view,” The New York Times’  Never Trump conservative, Ross Douthat, concludes:

At this point we can posit with some certainty that The [NY] Post’s story was not some sort of sweeping Russian disinformation plot …   It was, in other words, analogous to … anti-Trump stories that various media outlets have run with across the last four crazy years — from the publicity around the Steele dossier’s wilder rumors to the tales of Michael Cohen’s supposed Prague rendezvous to the claims that Russians hacked Vermont’s power grid or … the Julie Swetnick allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

Douthat concludes: In none of these cases did social-media minders step in to protect the public from possible fake news.

University indoctrinated Marxists in the newsroom

Wall Street’s Gerard Baker has identified the bacillus infecting too many newsrooms:

Newsrooms are now hostage to narrow-minded post-teenage social justice warriors who have no time for the idea that there might be an alternative to their own Maoist ideology. Forget “objectivity.” Journalists have a moral purpose.

If they do hold Democrats accountable, you can bet it will be not to the standards of, let’s say, the median voter. It will be to the demands of critical race theory, woke norms and climate extremism.

Back to the Associated Press. McGurn records that AP has revised its stylebook to say reporters should use the term “unrest” instead of “riots” to describe the criminal violence in cities from Portland, Ore., to Kenosha, Wis. 

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Forget race, gender, and all those pronouns. If news outlets want diversity, hire a conservative. You’ve heard of affirmative action, haven’t you?
