Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Laptop? What laptop, lapdogs?

Must … get … Uncle Joe … across finish line!

Out here in the Werkes’ new rural retreat, we’re catching up with the news from the years’ worth of weekly Shopper Stoppers faithfully delivered to this long-abandoned redoubt — many still legible! News you can trust.

The gray lab coats here find the journalism in Madison’s morning daily pretty well balanced, except when they run an Associated Press story. Allegations of Hunter Biden’s influence peddling are not “unfounded.” (The edition of 10-26-20.) They may be unproven, but his laptop and the statement of his former business partner surely provide a foundation.

The news media has worked hard to alienate half of America. Their cover-up of the Bidens’ influence peddling is malpractice by omission, compared to committing every unsupported (ahem) utterance from Adam Schiff (today’s Joe McCarthy) to print. Here’s where we’re at:

“Washington Post columnist Thomas Rid said the quiet part out loud by telling the media:  ‘We must treat the Hunter Biden leaks as if they were a foreign intelligence operation — even if they probably aren’t.’”

“Let that sink in for a second,” encourages law professor Jonathan Turley. Especially since the FBI and the director of National Intelligence have repeatedly discounted foreign interference.

Of National Public Radio, Gerard Baker of the Wall Street Journal writes: “All Things, it seems, will not be Considered. In the long and dishonorable annals of journalistic cant, there have been few statements to compete with the one issued by National Public Radio last week explaining why it wouldn’t burden its listeners with any news about Hunter Biden.”

“We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don’t want to waste our listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions,” said Terence Samuels, the network’s managing editor for news.

William McGurn of the Wall Street Journal offers this example:

When Julie Swetnick asserted in 2018 — without any corroboration — that she witnessed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh participating in gang rapes at high-school parties, the Times ran the story the same day.  But when Ms. Reade accused Mr. Biden of sexual assault, the previous believe-the-woman standard was given the heave-ho, and the Times waited 19 days to report it.

Which brings us to the Twitter/Facebook censorship

“The decision by Twitter to attempt to shut down the circulation of the New York Post story [breaking Hunter’s laptop] … looked bad when it was made, looks even worse now that we have more of the back story and more evidence in view,” The New York Times’  Never Trump conservative, Ross Douthat, concludes:

At this point we can posit with some certainty that The [NY] Post’s story was not some sort of sweeping Russian disinformation plot …   It was, in other words, analogous to … anti-Trump stories that various media outlets have run with across the last four crazy years — from the publicity around the Steele dossier’s wilder rumors to the tales of Michael Cohen’s supposed Prague rendezvous to the claims that Russians hacked Vermont’s power grid or … the Julie Swetnick allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

Douthat concludes: In none of these cases did social-media minders step in to protect the public from possible fake news.

University indoctrinated Marxists in the newsroom

Wall Street’s Gerard Baker has identified the bacillus infecting too many newsrooms:

Newsrooms are now hostage to narrow-minded post-teenage social justice warriors who have no time for the idea that there might be an alternative to their own Maoist ideology. Forget “objectivity.” triggeredJournalists have a moral purpose.

If they do hold Democrats accountable, you can bet it will be not to the standards of, let’s say, the median voter. It will be to the demands of critical race theory, woke norms and climate extremism.

Back to the Associated Press. McGurn records that AP has revised its stylebook to say reporters should use the term “unrest” instead of “riots” to describe the criminal violence in cities from Portland, Ore., to Kenosha, Wis.

Blaska’s Bottom LineForget race, gender, and all those pronouns. If news outlets want diversity, hire a conservative. You’ve heard of affirmative action, haven’t you?

Whose news do YOU trust?

Two new things for you. Watch the Shelby Steele documentary, What Killed Michael Brown?  It’s a damning piece that shows the breakdown of black society by (maybe) well meaning democrats. There is a new YouTube channel style channel called Rumble. My ex husband said he’s leaving the US if Trump wins.  I’ll help the whiner pack and buy his bus ticket.  Lefties are such poor sports, eh?

We’ve all heard that before when Bush won and the first time Trump won. Yet they’re all still here. : )

      I will check out Rumble.

Also, I’ve been meaning to check out OAN & Newsmax. I’ve watched Newsy a little (on cable) and like that they seem to actually report the news, not editorialize it.

The more the news media & big tech lies, conflates, censors, silences, and attempts to influence instead of reporting the news, the more they expose their repulsiveness. And ultimately, the better for Trump.

That the liberal media-big tech complex works overtime to conflate Trump’s every word while ignoring his accomplishments (nary a word about his recent human trafficking initiative) and covering for Biden, makes it hard to trust anything they have to say.

Trump exposed this corruption, and I will never again believe much of what comes out of media’s lying mouths. I also question the intelligence of people who fall for every stupid “Trump sucks” headline hook, line and sinker.

That said, I do like Tucker Carlson and Mark Levin, although these aren’t really news as they are editorial. I also subscribe to the Wall Street Journal.

On a local level, I guess the Wisconsin State Journal does a mostly decent job. I rarely ever watch the local news channels as they’re mostly either blood-and-guts or fluff.

What does it take to get a decent, hard-hitting investigative reporter in this city? Someone who’s camped out at the city-council building and state capitol and is not afraid to dig and ask hard questions?

Long gone are the days of Mike Royko, but Dylan Brogan of the erstwhile Isthmus and the Journal’s Chris Rickert hold their own in the 77 Square Miles Surrounded By A Sea Of Reality.

The Gotch has had several email exchanges with the latter and was impressed with his straight forward candor

“Long gone are the days of Mike Royko…” And what a loss.

I was just talking with someone who has no money and has been majorly and shamelessly screwed over by the Department of Education in an identity theft issue which he has been paying for over the years. He’s been doing that with the understanding that he will eventually get the money back. Now, the DoE is clearly trying to run out their obligation to pay him back by playing out the statute of limitations which will expire in a month or so. One contact with a guy like Royko would resolve that issue in a heartbeat.

Yes, it was a different era with newspapers back then. And then these papers wonder why their circulation has dropped so much. True, advertising revenues have plummeted due to CL and the internet in general. But who wants to advertise in a paper that people just aren’t interested in paying for, given the few fluffy minutes it takes to read?

And it’s not like some of us haven’t tried over the years. I wrote multiple times to both the State Journal and Cap Times over the years about the crap they would be featuring as “news”, but to no avail. Remember the Pizza parlor total non-story series in the Cap Times? That was actually the final straw for me as a subscriber.
Or what about the never-ending glorification of guys like Dahmer and other deranged killers over at the WI SJ? But at least these killers, featured in their finest orange clothes, could show off the new color printing capabilities of that paper on the front page time after time after time. Can’t recall the name of the killer right now that they just LOVED to give homage to on the front page to him over and over in this manner.
And what a great public service to learn every detail, repeated over and over, about Dahmer’s eating and recreational habits. I mean that must have been newsworthy, given the major journalist prize I recall the WSJ receiving for that one.

I can think of a few exceptions. Columnist George Hesselberg at WSJ did do some of what you mention, no? Also, most people in Sauk Co. were very grateful for Ron Seely’s detailed series regarding the Human Services scandal in Reedsburg, and we acted accordingly.

I do appreciate the recommendations, both from you and I think David too, regarding Chris Rickert’s recent reports on education. In the past, his stories never particularly impressed me, but that was a long time ago. It seems that things may have changed and it’s definitely time to get up to date on his reporting. I’ve unfortunately just turned into a internet search kind of news reader at this point.
Agreed, Dylan Brogan is an excellent reporter from what I’ve read.

        Thanks for the post, Gotch.

My comment, and OTHERS’ comments, hopefully will taken to heart by Dylan.

        “Big Woop….

Dylan writes good honest articles on newsworthy subjects. This ain’t one o’ them… Why is this tiny percentage of graffiti (it’s actually more the application of adhesive) so world-shaking? Because it WASN’T sprayed on a building, or plywood covering vandalism and could be easily cleaned up? An awful lot of extrapolation & “projection” going on, way beyond a simple note and some Trump stickers. “I’m angry and sad,” says Shales. “Not for myself or my business. Just society.” Really? What about the looting, vandalism and physical harm attached to the last go ’round of “protests” ? https://youtu.be/gkFa2d54QO0. ”

The partisanship of the MSM was always lurking in the background (easy to see for some, harder for others), now it’s out in the open. The mask started slipping during the riots (not unrest) in dozens of cities (inclulding this one) over the summer when we were repeatedly told that hoardes of looters, vandals, arsonists and assorted thugs were all “peaceful protesters” even when reporters spouting this lie were standing in front of storefronts engulfed in flames. It’s come off completely during the run-up to the election. When journalists start seeing their job as a mission on behalf of one political party, they might as well turn in their beat-up fedoras and sleeve garters for Mao suits and rebrand their news outlets as Pravda.

In that Washington Post editorial by Thomas Rid, one finds this: “Nevertheless, in the likely continued absence of certainty either way, the Biden leaks deserve the full potential-disinformation treatment. This means three concrete things. First, every individual little fact — every email, every text, every photo — must be independently verified when data is surfaced in such a suspicious way, not just one piece of information. Genuine photos, for example, could be there simply to add credibility to forged emails surfaced along with the photos — shielding a few forgeries with genuine content would be a time-tested active measures tactic.”

Can you imagine that being a general rule at the WP regarding its overall “reporting,” along with NYT, etc when it comes to their anti-Trump or their foreign war agenda in general?

Instantly started channeling Buddy Holly after reading that one.

Gotch, I’m pretty sure than even the biggest fan of WaPo is not laying awake at night worrying about it going down in a “slow, painful, solitary death.” Given the $600 million contract they got with the CIA in 2017 under the Obama Administration, they should be safe for a while without any bedtime prayers from anyone. Total purchase price for the paper in 2013 for that paper, BTW, was $250 million. And then you’ve got an owner who is now the richest man in the world, now worth over $200 billion.
Alas, just don’t see the demise you hopefully predict, however much we may wish it. Of course I understand why you won’t read it. I just read that particular column to verify David’s rather eye-opening post.

These PUBLICLY TRADED Corporations are violating OUR Constitutional Rights and their Boards of Directors should be Criminally Prosecuted. Facebook and Twitter both hide behind the LIE that, “Hey, we’re private companies” They ARE NOT private, they are PUBLICLY TRADED on the NASDAQ
A federal appeals court ruled that President Trump is not allowed to block people on Twitter over statements he does not like, affirming a lower court’s decision that declared the president’s account a “public forum. Then ALL of TWITTER is a PUBLIC FORUM.
Furthermore, in “Marsh vs Alabama.” Marsh was forbidden to hand out religious tracts in a company-owned town in Alabama. Marsh won.SCOTUS ruled that a private corporation operating in a public capacity is legally bound by the First Amendment.
They advertize themselves as PUBLIC SOCIAL MEDIA and then violate Your Civil RIght of Free .Speech
FACEBOOK, TWITTER, YOUTUBE, REDDIT, GOOGLE are PLACES OF PUBLIC GATHERING, “SOCIAL Media”, and ADVERTISE themselves as PUBLIC places.. They are also PUBLICLY TRADED CORPORATIONS, listed on the New york Stock exchange. File complaints with the SEC, and every “Human Rights” agency. File complaints with the NYSE for Bigotry and Discrimination.
FACEBOOK is a PUBLIC SPACE therefore it has no right or legal option to censor participants. FACEBOOK is a PUBLICLY TRADED company, NOT a “private entity” and it solicits PUBLIC memberships.
the FCC removed the telecommunication companies from the Net Neutrality laws and they are to be treated as Internet companies, rather than like regulated phone service companies. So as with ALL companies they cannot DISCRIMINATE.
They advertise themselves as “Social Media & Public Spaces” so everything that is covered under the First Amendment can be posted there. ….. these “Social Media” can & should also be sued for violating People’s 1st Amendment RIGHTS to speak freely in PUBLIC SPACES.
giant tech firms that are publically traded that take government subsidies are not private. They should have to follow the same rules that all government contractors have to follow.
Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc. engaging in politically motivated censorship is like your meter reader shutting off your electricity because you have a Trump sign on your lawn. These social media have become like public utilities and therefore have no right to engage in political censorship. It is way past time to impose common carrier status on social media. Just like the phone company cannot censor your conversations there, social media should not be allowed to interfere with content there. Social media is the modern day phone company.
“It is way past time to impose common carrier status on social media.”
Meanwhile, Ajit Pai of the FCC has disallowed common carrier status for ISPs and, moreover, has allowed them to censor content, block websites, raise prices for everyone, and wage class war by using an excellent standard of speed and service for the rich and an inferior one (slow speed and service) for the non-rich.
quoted from a reporter (who shall remain nameless): Facebook outright censoring a news link from a newspaper’s website is akin to the delivery driver refusing to deliver the bundle of newspapers anywhere. Do truck drivers get to decide what news should be delivered? They do now, apparently…”
They are violating YOUR CIVIL RIGHTS by denying you the means of communication.
A man wearing a Patriot Prayer hat was murdered in Portland by a criminal who said he was “100% Antifa” and instead of banning Antifa pages, Facebook banned Patriot Prayer. Truly Orwellian insanity from the Trotskyite garbage babies who run Facebook. https://t.co/Wa8DY5vy0e — Sean Davis (@seanmdav) September 4, 2020

And leftists are trying to convince us that Trump is evil because of some locker room talk from a decade ago? Oh, and Russia! Despite that story being debunked over and over again.

Maybe if they got their heads out of CNN, they’d realize that the pervs, grifters, and thieves sit on the left.

It’s been a while, but I have seen many very valuable reports and interviews on RT.
Have you ever actually watched this channel, Richard?

Also, have you ever listened to Putin speak? To me, he’s easily one of the most balanced, informed and reasonable leaders in the world today. Have you ever wondered why the media you rely upon NEVER features actual clips of him speaking but rather always refers to him with innuendo and pejoratives? (One possibility: it’s tough to manipulate the words of someone who ALWAYS speaks so precisely and carefully.)

Contrast that with WWII. At that time, our media had no problem featuring Hitler’s speeches all the time. Meanwhile, The Third Reich NEVER featured clips of FDR speaking.

Why do you think that things have become reversed today? Do you agree with that our current situation is acceptable when it comes to a media that we can trust?

Thanks, interested in your thoughts on this.

It’s the cover-up that always gets them. The hive-minded #GetTrump Ms. Media cicled their satelitte trucks defensively around their chosen candidate, and tried to “gosnell” the story, but it backfired. Bigly. It only brought more attention to it.

The revelations from Hunter Biden’s laptop are revealing much more than mere drug-addled pederasty, but bribery and corruption from one of the longest serving, highest level political figures in our history. As bad as all that is, it pales in light of the fact that Quid Pro Joe Bribe ‘Em not only sold his office, but to whom he sold it.

While the low-flow Lefty Luditte lemmings might naturally zero in on the salacious elements of the laptop from hell story, which in and of themselves are indeed criminal, it does permit the Democrat Propaganda Industrial Complex, (beware of) when they can no longer cover up or cast aspersions on the veracity of the laptop, to separate father from son and use the latter as a patsy.

Even with only a week to go, there are still some Democrat dolts out there who can easily be duped into not visiting the sins of the son on the father. That’s the strategery that I think is likely. But “The Bid Guy” himself is neck deep in this corruption.

That’s why the sun is setting on Gropin’ Joe.
