Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

It’s o.k. to use the C-word profanity if you are progressive

The hoary ‘speaking truth to power’ clichรฉ

โ€œPlease note that the corrupt, crooked, c***s at The Tavern League do not represent the interests of all bars and restaurants.โ€ โ€” Francesca Hong, Democrat(ic) candidate for State Assembly, Madison WI.

No enemies on the Left โ€” What did we say?ย ย In September, The Capital Timesย  demanded the Common Council call out โ€œthe culprit in its midstโ€ so that s/he could be properly canceled, shunned, and shushed for uttering the C-word.ย Unless, of course, the culprit is in someone else’s midst. (More here.)

But Sunday 10-18-20, the Voice of Progressivism won the gold medal in the Olympic political gymnastics event. Associate editor John Nichols did a double backflip to cover for Francesca Hong, the Democrat(ic) heir apparent to a Madison assembly seat who spat out the C-word at the Tavern League of Wisconsin.

Comrade Nichols, Bernie bois that he is, actually praises Hong! โ€œA new legislator speaks truth to power and upsets the defenders of a broken status quo.โ€

Who actually wields power?

Seems to the Werkes that Hong is the one who soon will wield power as a state legislator. They write the laws.ย Wisconsin taverns, on the other hand, operate at the mercy of politicians like Hong.ย Only nuclear power plants are more government-regulated than your favorite watering hole. Nichols, like that broken clock, is right about one thing: The growing casualty list of boarded up mom and pop taverns and restaurants are, indeed, “a broken status quo.” (Just one example: “Old Fashioned restaurant turns to GoFundMe.”)

โ‡’ UPDATE: It’s an almost daily occurrence. The latest bar/restaurant to go out of business is ย the Village Green, a Middleton institution after 44 years!

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Take a stroll down State Street, John Nichols. Your F-bombing progressives boarded it up while the Covid police continue to bleed the survivors. One more thing: we noticed that you did not use the full C-word in your Sunday editorial column. Afraid to speak truth to power?ย

What is YOUR word for such hypocrisy?

  1. John Nichols has always been a fully consumed progressive political hack that rationalizes anything progressive and “attacks” anything not progressive. I gave John Nichols a chance years ago but he’s proven to me that he’s a propagandist that’s interested in only one thing, more political power for progressives; I no longer put any credence in anything he writes.

I second that, Steve. He’s intellectually dishonest (like most progressives I’ve met) and completely predictable.

When most of your life has been spent in a classroom, in public office, or as an activist funded by the taxpayers or billionaires, you haven’t a clue what it’s like to actually have to work for a living, run a business, have to make a profit, and pay bills.

These businesses have been forgotten and discarded. Heck, Blaska shows more concern for downtown businesses than the Chamber and elected officials do.

City & state government, John Nichols and ilk, and the rest of the socialist progressives SHOULD be hiding their heads in shame, but they’re too busy congratulating themselves for a job well done.

The more I see from progressives, the more I’m convinced that leftism is a mental disorder.

The Old Fashioned’s Gofundme is up to $35K so hopefully they will make it. Fingers crossed.

$35K??? How is that going to help The Old Fashioned beyond the very short term? Unfortunately most of these places that are “closing temporarily” may never reopen.

Further with most of the Square and State St. still boarded up like Detroit in the late 1960s it seems obvious the unstated consensus in Madison is that Trump may win reelection. In which case the riots will make the ones in May, June, and August look like a picnic.

Hope the weak-@ss “leaders” of Madison and Wisconsin have a plan to protect places like the State Capitol. Unfortunately places like The Old Fashioned may have to put their full trust in the power of plywood.

I guess now when I start referring to female Democratic Legislators using that term, it won’t be misogynistic hate speech, I’m merely ‘drawing attention to the issues!’ Thanks John, good to know.

The c-word should be used sparingly and reserved only for those most deserving of that epithet otherwise I fear this fabulous and powerful weapon will go the way of the word *racist* whereby its sting is so diluted because virtually everyone who disagrees with a proglibocrat automaton is now racist by definition.

P.S. as more people understand how the word *racist* has been weaponized and is being used as a leverage tool its efficacy and fear quotient will gradually diminish.
It would be a crying shame if that became the fate of the yummy c-word.

I am officially declaring myself a “progressive.” Stay tuned for future posts, now that I have a freer rein.

  8. Good catch, Squire, on the Tavern League VID. In MDSN, it boggles the mind were we to lose any of the old taverns (and combination bars and restaurants). One need only to check our history via the many comprehensive websites heralding this city’s establishments, since the turn of the century. And thru Prohibition, WW2, the 70’s strip joints, and more. Supporting these folks seems way more valuable than stuffin’ 300+ million down a MMSD sewer pipe.

Nichols should walk down State St for sure. He could do it with Senator Tammy and Pookie Pocan who have “put a lid” on their careers as surely as Old Joe has on his campaign.

I’m sure it would also be acceptable for whoever used the “C” word in the city council meeting to own up to the fact like Hong has.

Posting something to a social media platform under your own name where there’s nowhere to hide/no other choice ONLY constitutes Owning Up To It in LaLaLoopyLoonLeftyLand.

‘Course, there’s always unctuous, Lefty scumbags (forgive the redundancy) like Steve Scully that try to weasel out of it.
