After federal authorities flat-out concluded that Althea Bernstein made up her story about being lit on fire by four “classic Wisconsin frat boys” June 24, Madison was supposed to let the young lady heal.
The Policy Werkes, by contrast, is urging U.S. Attorney Scott Blader to prosecute this self-entitled hoaxster for perpetrating a hate crime. Lying to federal authorities is a crime, or has the law changed since the James Comey’s FBI went after Michael Flynn (after setting him up)? (“Faking a hate crime IS a hate crime.”) After all, the young woman’s spokesman, Michael Johnson said at the time (in order to fan the flames) “This is an escalation of racial tensions felt all across the country.” And that was her purpose.
Now Mr. Johnson is encouraging authorities to move along, nothing to see here. Someone should tell Althea.
We thank our readers for alerting us to her October 7 social media post, put up just days after law enforcement exposed her lies.

It is sad that she is doing this. It must be tough to be called out as a liar at such a young age. Her identity is now dependent on her keeping up with her story. No one with a brain is going to take her seriously.

I’m hoping that Amelia Royko and her Community Response Team make Althea’s case where “police be making up stories” the first big investigation for the new police monitor.
What could be more worthy of investigation than a racially motivated hate crime that was dropped by the police?

Fame is a drug. She went from anonymity to world figure. She is equating the closing of her case with the end of official scrutiny. She now feels free to use any means necessary in order to stay in the spotlight. If she is not held to account, this behavior will continue, and she will take her place in the Hall Of Fame for the “cause”. I agree with Dexter, if her own allies demand more scrutiny it will “backfire on her”. (oops, bad choice of words)

The police report is pretty darn clear. Her story doesn’t hold water. I don’t see how any person of sound mind could say she was telling the truth. Something happened to her, but not the story that she was stating.

IMO, the talented Ms. Bernstein completely lacks the intellectual wherewithal to pull this off and plan it with malice of foresight.
That it evolved in stages the way it did is nothing more than dumb moral luck.
Not unlike Shelia Stubbs’ alleged Campaigning While Black episode; she waited OVER_FIVE_WEEKS to become offended.
Public Information Officer Joel Despain says before the incident was made public, Stubbs spoke to Madison Police Chief Mike Koval at length. Despain says Stubbs indicted “SHE WAS QUITE HAPPY WITH THE POLICE RESPONSE ALTHOUGH SHE WAS VERY DISPLEASED THAT THE OFFICER WAS SENT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Bernstein isn’t the only one that knows what REALLY happened.

Kids do what they are taught, at least until they rebel. When our public schools indoctrinate their impressionable minds for 7 hrs a day during an entire school year what do you expect? All summer long, for example, Toki Middle School featured two dozen racist lawn signs, one after the other in a long line, facing Whitney Way. As one proudly put it: “Privleging BLACK staff, students & Families.”
So who is more at fault, an indoctrinated 18 yr old, or MMSD?

Gotch – yes, but see your post above, along with all the others. Agreed, Althea should be held accountable and not get away with what she has done/is now doing. This kind of hate crime cannot be allowed to fester and grow, which our race hustlers are so keen on seeing happen.
But I wrote that post because I think it’s important that everyone in this discussion not have their attention diverted from simply blaming one well-indoctrinated 18 yr old. Althea, BTW, sounds like she is a genuinely nice person, who ended up in the position she’s in because her parents insisted that she go to the hospital for her injuries.
And if you read the posts here so far, that is what is happening. Including your own post. Hence my post, which seems legit, given the six comments so far on this thread.

Judging by her social media post, Madison’s public schools need to spend more time teaching grammar and less time enabling the cult of victimhood. Or have they decided that the rules of standard English (e.g., making your verb agree with your subject) are inherently racist?

Finally, a proper target comes into sight!
I’ve long felt (at least since high school) that math for every child- beyond basic arithmetic – is the single biggest waste of time – and by far the greatest source of academic child abuse – for many students in our educational system. Some kids just aren’t cut out for math. Or if they are, they end up having no interest in it because they have other interests and find that it is just wasting their time.
How many people, who don’t use it in their jobs, remember a damn thing about what they were taught through all those long and joyless hrs in school? Want to develop the left side of the brain? Teach them something more fun like chess.
Others kids, of course, are cut out for math and they love it. Those kids are then soon bored to tears in our primary schools. There is no reason why some 4th graders in any school shouldn’t be doing college level math. No reason except for an educational ideology which enforces the lowest common denominator across so many different aspects of learning.
Sorry Gotch, not trying to fight with you about anything on these threads, which I hope you do realize. Just adding in my 2 cents. IMO the more cooks the better with all this stuff.

The lies need to stop. A public apology and some kind of justice including restitution needs to happen.

There are too many glaring discrepancies/unlikelihoods in her story to enumerate, but the giveaway was describing her attackers in completely generic terms. A real victim of a personal attack would be able to provide specific details (e.g., one was shorter than the others; two were wearing MAGA caps). To describe them as “classic UW frat guys” strongly suggests she didn’t have time (or sufficient imagination) to make her tale even remotely believable. Now imagine a white guy claiming to be set upon by four “typical black guys.” How much sympathy would he get from Madison liberals? The local media would be working night and day to debunk his story, as they should.

Of course she is doubling down. Why stop when there are no consequences for lying her ass off through this whole sequence of “events?” I’m glad her rug/blowback burns have healed nicely though. I’ve reached the pity and embarrassed for Althea stage in my outrage for the crap she pulled. Going on Tik Tok and using the phrase “be” in a sentence (ex. SJWs be dumb) is embarrassing in and of itself. Also, if you go on Youtube and type in her name, there are videos etc. with thousands of negative and cruel comments about her lying and so on. The fame and the limelight work both ways. I don’t know about everyone here, but I do not want to be remembered as a hate-crime hoaxer for the rest of my life on the interwebs. She may be a folk hero to the most malignantly woke, but the Internet is forever and her lies are forever too.
