Cancel culture strikes again
From the Dane County Republican Party:
Over the last weekend, protesters climbed a 30-foot billboard featuring a positive, anti-slavery message placed by the Republican Party of Dane County. The message said, “Thanks Republicans (for the) 13th Amendment, Emancipation, and Freedom.” It also featured an image of Abraham Lincoln from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.
“I was a little shocked that people would choose to deface a sign celebrating the freeing of the slaves by Republican President Abraham Lincoln with the Emancipation Proclamation and the passage of the 13th Amendment ending slavery forever in the United States,” said Republican chair Scott Grabins.
“As much as the foundation of the Republican Party is rooted in fighting slavery, the Democratic Party’s foundation is rooted in fighting for the institution of slavery and promoting other, racist institutions like Planned Parenthood.”
Grabins said two of the three names spray painted on the sign — Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass — were Republicans. Douglass was a friend of President Lincoln and Tubman believed in the right of freed slaves to bear arms like the rest of their fellow Americans. Many early gun laws were aimed at preventing black Americans from owning guns.
Grabins said the defaced billboards will be replaced.

Hmmmm. Not sure I see how PPA’s location correlates to racism. I think David would likely reply, you build your facilities where there’s demand, no? Perhaps non-minorities have access to insured medical care so PPA covers the areas not so endowed? There may be multiple reasons answering your response, none of which I’d call racism. Seems to me that I recall siting of various undesirable businesses or infrastructure in minority communities geography might though. Guess we’ll have to ask PPA how they decide to site their facilities?

I’m trying to find the source but I believe I recently read that Black women account for 38% of all abortions In the United States while Black people are only about 13% of the total population. If taken in the same context of the school to prison pipeline that we so often hear about, described as minority students being targeted for arrest, expelled or suspended from school at a disproportionate rate than their Caucasian counterparts, then yes, Planned Parenthood is a racist organization. On top of that, the Democratic Party pushes for funding of Planned Parenthood and abortion rights at every opportunity. That means Democratic Party = RACIST

In some poor areas Planned Parenthood is the ONLY healthcare available. They provide many services to men as well as women.

Define “healthcare” for us, will ya?Routine preventative medicine isn’t part of Planned Parenthood’s program, for the most part they do birth control, abortions procedures and what some would consider to be counseling. Our emergency rooms are full of uninsured Obama voters that wait for a healthcare emergency to even apply for insurance. Then after the ACA covers whatever the emergency is the patient cancels the policy. Planned Parenthood doesn’t treat gunshot wounds either…..

Gun bans, registration, confiscation and other anti-2A laws that democrats have PROMISED to enact affect any/everyone who owns guns, and that would include black people. So, would these anti-2A laws they want to enact affect specifically and exclusively only black people? OK – no. Touché. :>)
To your last point, that black people are part of the group of citizens that have been a big part of the first-time firearms purchasers since March is one of the best things to come out of this COVID-1984. I hope they buy a lot more. I may even be inclined to finally join them.
