On the streets and in city hall!

From the police blotter: “On Thursday 9-17-20, multiple callers called about hearing multiple shots fired in the 1300 block of Loreen Dr. Once Madison Police Officers arrived on scene, it was discovered that one home in the 1300 block of Loreen Dr had been hit with multiple bullets. One adult and one 8-year-old child were in the room that was hit.

“The resident in that home heard the shots and glass breaking from one of the windows. The shots that went in the home went directly over the heads of both the adult and the child.The glass breaking caused a minor injury to the stomach of the child, but no injuries from the actual gunshots, and no medical attention was needed. There were multiple shell casings found nearby in the 1300 block of Loreen Dr as well. The suspects are at large at this time.”

Followed by still more shooting

Straight from the cop shop: “Shortly after 1 a.m. this Friday morning 9-18-20, multiple callers in the 5700 block of Piping Rock Rd called reference to multiple shots fired. As Madison Police Officers were in route to the scene, there were other callers in the 5700 block of Piping Rock Rd, calling about a vehicle that had flipped over. Officers arrived on scene and by the vehicle did locate some shell casings. The vehicle was towed for evidence, and suspects are at large.”

UPDATED: 1 a.m. 6700 block of Schroeder Road — This morning, caller contacted police after locating a large bullet hole through his grill lid, patio chair and main outer wall next to the vestibule area. Bullet was found lodged into a wall approximately three feet from the room where the caller was sleeping last night.

⇒ 1 a.m. 1100 block of Saybrook Road — Madison Police located at least ten shell casings on the roadway.  Officers and investigators collected evidence and spoke with witnesses who stated shots were heard after 1:00 am, then a crash.

‘This is why I bought a gun’

Folks, this is the pricey Greentree neighborhood due north of Meadowood. Reports from three different neighbors on social media:

1)  13 gunshots @1:46am. Called the non emergency AND 911. – no one picked up, 2x each. Piping & Whitney. Police walkiy piping now with flashlights. Be safe everyone & take care of your neighbors! I called once after hearing gunshots and it took nearly 3 minutes for them to answer. They said it was because so many were calling it in it flooded the lines.

2) We heard it too but it was 1:13 am. Two bursts of multiple rounds. We didn’t even call because it happens so often now. We live on Barton and Gilbert. …

3)  This is why I just bought a gun because we really don’t have anyone but ourselves. We have another retaliation war on our hands on the West side. Get ready, it’s gonna get worse with the weather changing, darker earlier, wearing face masks with hoodies because it’s cold now, this is a recipe for disaster. This also happens last night same area

BLM targets sheriff, causes commuter crash

Straight from the cop shop:

A known protest group began staging in the parking lot of Memorial HS parking lot at 5:00 pm Thursday 09-17-2018. Approximately 30 people with bikes and cars gathered and at approximately 6 pm began moving Northbound on Gammon Rd.

MPD’s command post alerted Dane County Sheriff’s Office of the likelihood of the group traveling toward Sheriff Mahoney’s home in the West District. He was not home at the time but a family member was present. MPD monitored the group to provided traffic direction in order to keep involved and uninvolved motorist and pedestrians safe. The group occupied the roadway outside the Sheriff’s home for approximately 1.5 hours.

… The group left the area of the Sheriff’s home around 8:15 pm and moved back towards Memorial HS. They ultimately traveled in a slow moving vehicle procession onto the EB Beltline and came to a complete stop on the EB Beltline near Verona Rd for approximately five minutes before continuing a slow procession EB through the area of Todd Dr before resuming normal speeds.

A two-vehicle crash on the EB Beltline was reported during the slow-speed procession.

BLM fired high-powered explosives at police
