Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Hey Democrats, quit kvetching and pick the flowers

Grievance is not a governing philosophy

It’s all too beautiful (as the Small Faces sang), this twenty-second day of August 2020, on the Blaska Experimental Work Farm (and Penal Colony).

The phlox is in full bloom — pink, purple, and white. A field of zinnias (red dwarf Holi Scarlet hybrids and 4-foot tall Jung Super Giants, red and yellow) wave in the breeze. They’re fronted by a bed of red portulaca.

The unlettered field hands are still taking a few spears of asparagus, which the indentured servants are blending into the Squire’s scrambled eggs and bacon. Temperature this 9 a.m. is a summery 76 degrees, the coffee is strong, and the Harley Softail Slim is gassed up for the chicken burn in Rockton, Sunday.

So why do our liberal-progressive-socialist acquaintances hate America?

The gray labcoats at the Policy Werkes understand that the party out of the White House must nail grievances to the church door, real and imagined. (But the Great Post Office Conspiracy … !?) Even so, Ronald Reagan challenged a sitting President and won by painting a bright picture of America as a shining city on a hill. Not the Democrats this year! Of this week’s Democrat(ic) national convention, Tunku Varadarajan (Tunku, tunku very much)  writes:

Scarcely a speech or segment went by in which a fetish wasn’t made of immigrants. They were portrayed, almost uniformly, as victims — hapless people thwarted by “systemic racism” and American injustice, moored forever in a netherworld of murk and fear by President Trump’s refusal to be humane.

No accident that the chaos of Democrat-controlled cities like Chicago, St. Louis, and Seattle was taboo at the convention, which was held in Uncle Joe Biden’s bunker instead of Milwaukee, which had just fired its Hispanic police chief. Peggy Noonan, no Trumpbot herself, observes:

There was a non-stop hum of grievance at the convention. To show their ferocious sincerity in the struggle against America’s injustices, most of the speakers thought they had to beat the crap out of the country — over and over. Its sins: racism, sexism, bigotry, violence, xenophobia, being unwelcoming to immigrants.

The charges, direct and indirect, never let up. Little love was expressed, little gratitude. Everyone was sort of overcoming being born here. … The cumulative effect of all this, especially for the young, would prompt an inevitable question: Why would anyone fight to save this place? Who needs it?

And you wonder why Portland burns. Identity politics blames unseen “white privilege” for Black-on-Black fratricide. Progressive Madison is boarded up. A state legislator (David Bowen, D-Milwaukee) lied for the BLM hooligan who fired a shotgun into a (Black) Wauwautosa police officer’s home. (Story here.)

“Those factions in U.S. politics who trumpet the grievances of various identity groups without offering an underlying vision of unity push the state toward a tribalism from which there may be no easy return,” a former assistant secretary of State writes.

Tommy Thompson would say about Chuck Chvala that his sour Democrat(ic) opponent was always sucking on lemons. Tommy was accused of being a cheerleader. We need more cheerleaders. Where is Ronald Reagan’s sunny optimism?

At the Stately Manor, at least, it is Morning in America. The Squire’s bacon and eggs have arrived — with lightly steamed asparagus and a dollop of culturally appropriated salsa sauce!

What’s on your plate this beautiful weekend?

Pretty gosh darn pleasant in the Batcave this fine morning with much to be grateful for besides the well earned creature comforts such as purpose and good intentions for the day. To be kind to all I meet, patient and humble not knowing what someone may be going through. Batman has friendly welcoming kind neighbors always willing to lend a hand without being asked. How is it the dems keep missing the goodness of this country? I know Madisonians who genuinely BELIEVE a black person quite literally risks their life each time they step outside but not from other black people.

Dems love to preach the horror of America and yet millions flood into the country each year to partake of that *horror.* The same goes for Madison. People move here from their demonrat shithole cities because Madison is not quite yet the festering turd these people are used to but with the fools currently running things that is rapidly evening-out.

Friends do not let friends vote democrat.

That “Build Back Better” slogan doesn’t seem to be gaining much traction for Democrats. Maybe they should go with “Extremism in the Defense of Identity Politics Is No Vice.” At least it would have the virtue of being true. As for immigrants–legal or illegal–being granted the exalted status of victimhood–the flip side is their being beatified; on the left, there’s no such thing as an immigrant who’s also a drug dealer, a criminal, a deadbeat looking for a lifetime of handouts from the welfare state. They’re all sentimentalized into embodiments of hardworking, lawabiding paragons of working-class virtue (the only segment of the working class the Dems still notice) just trying to claim their share of the American Dream despite the relentless efforts of Trump and his minions to thwart their efforts.

They can’t even explain HOW they’ll “build back better.”Just more stale platitudes.

The…um…idea of The Noble Immigrant specifically, and minorities generally, and their true…er…value to craven Lefty is superbly summed up in Dr. Thomas Sowell’s Mascot Politics

It’s one thing to have good faith disagreements about ideas. Those days have passed.

This is completely subjective, but whenever I now see the left in action, I see people who are bitter, vengeful, detached from reality, filled with hate and rage, and not quite lucid. I’ve met a few who I believe could benefit from some serious help.

The “Left”, “Left”, “Left”, “Left”, “Left”, “Left”, “Left”, “Left”, “Left”, God almighty, will followers of this blog stop lumping all of us that may disagree with you, in even of the slightest sense as insane or unloyal to this country… There must be room for our opinions in this county.without being described as ignorant or a miscreant… Are you so sure you are right on every issue or you will prevail in the next election.

“There must be room for our opinions in this country without being described as ignorant or a miscreant.” Now imagine a conservative saying that to a liberal. What do you suppose the response would be? (Have you noticed that “right-wing” is now widely used as shorthand for racist, extremist, bigoted, ignorant, science-hating, etc. etc.)

The Gotch humbly suggests considering a less whiny approach.

Most of the followers of this blogge are TRUE minorities…in the ideological/world-view sense…yet deprived of slobbering, White Lefty Guilt-suffocated symPATHETIC</b condescension.

A FAR Lefty MMSD Board that claims, with a straight face, that an all X-Chromosomal (til they got their token male, by default!) is…drum roll…DIVERSITY?

A Lefty CommonSenseLess Council, a Lefty Dane County Board since time immemorial?

C’mon, how complete must Dane County’s One Party Rule in_your_face shortcomings be, after acknowledging/owning up to its clearly (to put it mildly) dodgy results, and still inspire your blessings?

Ravenoaks, a few thoughts and questions:

My experience is that diversity of thought is not well tolerated within the Dem party (a party that has been hijacked by radicals). But by all means, please feel free to convince us otherwise.

Hint: Starting a post off with the “left, left, left . . .God almighty” sounds like you’re trying to shame us, which is something that we as conservatives & libertarians already experience on a regular basis, especially here in Madison. It’s why we feel safe to express ourselves on places like Blaska’s blog. Who are you to tell us how we should think?

This is a CONSERVATIVE blog, so it stands to reason that the people commenting here will be of a CONSERVATIVE bent. If you go to a LIBERAL blog, you will likely see people being critical of Donald Trump and calling out things they don’t like about Republicans. Are you good with that but not this?

We are expressing our frustrations at things like lawlessness and identity politics, corruption (ie using FISA court for political gain wile it goes largely un-reported by the left’s media partners) that the left is, in our view, tolerating and/or embracing.

If you believe the Dems are law and order, please explain why almost every city in chaos is Democratic-led. Don’t think I’ve heard one Democrat call out the thuggery.

Who said we are right on every issue or that we’ll prevail in the next election? Seems like you’re doing some projecting.

Can YOU find good things to say about Donald Trump supporters? Or do YOU lump all of us together?
