Racial disparity does not equal racism

“Racial disparity” has subtly morphed into “racism” and “discrimination.” The process has accelerated in the months following the killing of George Floyd.
Black and Hispanic students have markedly higher suspension and expulsion rates than whites and Asians. The Obama administration determined that these disparities needed to be remedied.
Rather than address the possibility that the higher rates of suspensions and expulsions weren’t due to systemic racism but to the fact that blacks and Hispanics engaged in misconduct meriting such discipline at a higher rate than whites and Asians (e.g., in 2015, 12.6% of blacks engaged in a physical fight on school property versus 5.6% of white students), … the Department of Education and … the Department of Justice [under Barack Obama] issued a guidance that, among other things, triggered federal investigations of schools whose suspension/expulsion rates differed materially by race. …
Magically, the year after the guidance was issued, the suspension/expulsion disparities disappeared; i.e., black and Hispanic students who engaged in behavior that previously would’ve resulted in suspension or expulsion remained in class. For anyone with a grain of common sense, the results were predictable.
Teachers who testified on the matter before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights reported classrooms out of control, even teachers being severely beaten. There also was a marked increase in the number of students who reported being bullied and a significant decrease in the number of students who felt safe on school grounds (resulting in an increase in the number of students who reported not attending school at least once in the preceding 30 days due to fear of violence). Vandalism, graffiti, and disruptive classroom behaviors rose as well.

The idea that students of color are disciplined at a higher rate due to “Systemic Racism” is totally insane. I wrote a letter to the entire MMSD school board to that effect when they were voting to take resource officers out of school. You can look at the suspension rate in almost any school and see that it is dramatically higher among Black students. I pointed out that if suspensions are delivered based upon the actions of the student, there is NO racism. Those are actions and poor decisions made by students and there are no racial overtones in them. They made sure to tell a story of how the presence of those officers was so unsettling to the Black student population. They had no concerns whatsoever about what other students may feel when the security of the resource officers is gone. They were put there to begin with because there were problems. Did those problems go away and no one told me? I suggested that they work on reducing the NEED for those officers and then take them away. It is like defunding the police when crime is exploding. It makes no sense. Put the blame where it belongs and that is the actions of the students, but it should not be used to progress agendas. Take those actions and make them “teaching moments” about accepting responsibility for your actions and the consequences that follow. As I suggested to them, Educate and not Indoctrinate!

One could make the case that schools are biased against boys, given that boys are disciplined more often. It can’t be that boys act up more than girls, can it? (Although the young ladies are catching up!)

You might be onto to something there, Blaska, ’cause that may be where it starts.
Ask any Lefty what they dislike most (after the good Ol’ U. S. of A., of course) and you’ll see Profiling near the top.
Bear in mind, some profiling (READ: GENDER) is more equal than others.
To wit:
The disparity between Y and X Chromosomal Units in the justice system is off the charts, ~ six times that of ANY_RACIAL_DISPARITY. Males are more likely to be pulled over, more likely to be arrested, more likely to be charged, more likely to be convicted, and more likely to receive harsher sentences than females.

You are not the only one to deliver that message Art Meyer but the school board is not interested in opposing viewpoints because they are so very absolutely convinced of their correctness just like Satya and Wahl were convinced that standing down (to sacrifice the few for the many) would appease the anarchists and they would make friends.

If the left truly cared about black (and white) Americans they would make sure they received a decent education. How do you get a good education when classrooms have become so chaotic?

It is all whitey’s fault and only when the white patriarchal systemically racist system is dismantled will the downtrodden minorities settle down and get on with the serious business of learning and family building although the destructors have not yet explained exactly what superior system will replace the existing constitutional republic because those are just minor details that will somehow magically materialize because they be doing God’s work but definitely positively not a Christian God.

We have had systemic racism here in Wisconsin for some time now. We start with the fact that only 40% of the total number of students in Wisconsin can read or write at grade level and the fact that that number drops to around 10% of Black students can read or write at grade level in Wisconsin. https://www.thecentersquare.com/wisconsin/nearly-60-percent-of-wisconsin-school-kids-cant-read-or-write-at-grade-level/article_0b0397ec-d4d0-11e9-b226-f7e51e17141c.html This all has happened under the leadership of then Superintendent of Public Education and now Governor, Tony Evers. In math it is even worse. Total number of White students that can do math at the 8th grade level is according to the Capitol Times https://madison.com/ct/news/local/education/wisconsin-has-highest-racial-achievement-gap-according-to-national-test-results/article_1639a81d-2fe2-5d70-b623-49594d31d98f.html is only around 45.6% while the number of Black students in the 8th grade who can do math at grade level was around 4%.
So we shouldn’t be too shocked that there is a major difference between the number of Black kids who end up getting in trouble in school as compared to the White kids. After all, if you can’t read Dick and Jane and you have just graduated from the 8th grade and are now going into the 9th grade, you cannot possibly read “The Grapes of Wrath”, “War and Peace”, The Declaration of Independence”, the “United States Constitution”, just to name a few, or any other great works of literature. In addition, if you can’t do simple math how could you possibly follow math at the High School level?
All we are left with is an uneducated Black child who is hopelessly lost in any understanding of math, science, literature and history. No wonder why so many Black children find themselves without the means of providing for themselves once they leave our public education system and find no other alternative than to live a life of crime.
Sad, so sad. What a waste of potential. What a waste of our collective humanity.

“All we are left with is an uneducated black child who is hopelessly lost in any understanding of math, science, literature, and history.” If this were ture, there might be some hope; unfortunately, that illiterate black child has had his head crammed with the left’s toxic ideology that has convinced him he’s been systematically and purposely victimized by a racist society which has stripped him of all personal agency and made him the perfect tool for the BLM fanatics (even though he can’t read, he can shout empty slogans and break shop windows with the best of them).

I’m openly stating that…
…and I say that because no one has been able to provide me with any verifiable pattern of evidence that it shows that it actually exists. I’ve asked everyone that actually claims it exists to prove it and none of them have been able to do so, most of them attack me and some calling me a racist just for asking. To prove that systemic racism exists there must first be evidence to show that the racism they claim exists actually exists (accusations is not proof) and then they must provide evidence that the racism they’ve shown exists has a verifiable pattern showing that it’s systemic. They are making the claims that it systemic racism exists, it’s up to them to prove it; challenge absolutely everyone of them that make the claim.
The problem with these modern day social justice warriors is that they look at differences in outcomes between blacks and whites and they see any difference as racism, they are IDIOTS!
The United States of America and the American Dream is all about equal individual opportunity NOT equal individual outcome, this is well outside the knowledge base for most modern day irrational social justice warriors. Any social justice warrior that claims that American Dream is about equality in outcomes is an ignorant socialist/communist minded fool and they need to be told the truth.

It would be difficult to make the case for present day systemic racism Steve although there are many who try including a bunch of Madisonians of all colors and a plethora of academics. People who make that accusation are interpreting the *legacy* of systemic/institutional racism such as aborted reconstruction, Jim Crow Laws, and redlining, as present day institutional prejudice against black people primarily and demand still more social programs and special treatment to compensate.
