The Washington Post Settles With Nicholas Sandmann

The Washington Post settled a lawsuit filed by the family of teenager Nicholas Sandmann who was falsely labeled a racist who aggressively attacked an elderly Native American activist during a visit to the Lincoln Memorial with his high school class. The false account of the incident was widely circulated in the media. He was attacked on networks like MSNBC and CNN as well as in newspapers like the Post. He sued the Washington Post for $250 million but the settlement terms were not disclosed. …

The Nation (magazine’s) Elie Mystal derid[ed] how this “17-year-old kid makes the George Zimmerman defense for why he was allowed to deny access to a person of color.” Putting aside the fact that Sandmann was not denying “access to a person of color,” Mystal [was] comparing this high school student to a man who was accused of murdering an unarmed African American kid and even assailing his effort to clear his name as the media continued to label him a racist. It was typical of much of today’s rage-filled commentary.

Many writers who joined the mob attacking Sandmann have never apologized.  They just moved on to the next target to be declared a racist in a summary media judgment.

I generally do not like lawsuits against the media  … However, … the sense of utter abandon in such false accounts is itself a danger to good journalism. We have seen recently how even iconic newspapers like The New York Times have yielded to the demand of the echo-journalistic model.

Q. Who is CNN’s highest paid personality? A. Nicholas Sandmann!

Serves them RIGHT to suffer immensely!

Rather than doing a victory lap, this should be a moment to pause and consider the fragility of TRUTH. Despite hundreds of witnesses to the encounter, the Marxist Streamed Media hand-picked what voices would be heard. It was only the existence of cell-phone video, showing the WHOLE story, that made TRUTH even possible. (Regrettably lacking in the Michael Brown case. Hence, despite witnesses and physical evidence to the contrary, we still have “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot”.) If not for the VIDEO, Nick Sandmann would be in hiding (or worse), and Savannah Guthrie would be saying “July 18th marks the year and a half anniversary of Sandmann’s attack on an elderly tribal leader, AND STILL NO APOLOGY !

The Gotch STRONGLY believes that somewhere there’s video of the Ferguson event. It strains credulity that, in this day-n-age, there wouldn’t be, especially with all the taxpayer-funded HopeyChangey phones with generous data plans available.

Lefty made sure that an Askia Muhammad Photo of Hopey Changey and Louis Farrakhan was buried for over 13 years by the Congressional Black Caucus, for, you know, like, Safe Keeping; why not the same thing with the Gentle Giant vid?

CNN already settled, but Sandmann, et al, are FAR from finished.

There are lawsuits pending against the NYT, ABC, NBC, CBS, Rolling Stone, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Deb Haaland, CNN’s Ana Navarro, the New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, ABC News’s Matthew Dowd, ex-CNN personalities Kathy Griffin and Reza Aslan, Kentucky entrepreneur Adam Edelen, Princeton University’s Kevin Kruse, left-wing activist Shaun King, Mother Jones editor-in-chief Clara Jeffery, and Rewire editor-in-chief Jodi Jacobson.

    Lefty’s taking it GOOD-N-HARD in the pocket-book!

This made my day when I read it! What these vultures did to this poor kid is despicable. Who with a heart and soul does something like this?

I think that anyone whose life is ruined or fears for their safety because of doxxing and slander should push back by using the court system and suing the instigators. That goes for doxxing victims in Madison too.

We still have rights in this country, even though the Left doesn’t seem to get it. Sitting back and taking it only empowers more of this bad behavior.

Very cheery news, and when I read that he also had other multi-million dollars lawsuits going against the editorial thugs and spaced-out reporters of other “news sources”, I laughed out loud. What a nice birthday gift for Nick, and some future monies on the way. Hopin’ the fake Vietnam War combat veteran is included -That guy took advantage of every interview to smugly lie, and then wanted only to “forgive” this young, honest young man. YAY ! !

Aside from your former occupation, is there a reason that you don’t think they should be held accountable?
