Destroying the police station was ‘a beautiful thing’
A good Madison liberal worries (for that they most certainly DO!) that “another four years of President Donald Trump is possible if people continue to vilify all police, demand that our jails be emptied, shout down and threaten anyone who disagrees, and cause disruption during a very, very disruptive pandemic.”
Even Mark Pocan gets it. The progressive congressman from Madison WI (he lives out in the country now but that doesn’t make him John Denver) urged rioters to cool it by appealing to rank partisanship: keep it up and you will re-elect Donald Trump. They may be more right than they know.
Politico is reporting that outside of the Washington D.C. bubble:
“GOP officials see Trump on glide path to reelection.”
Interviews with more than 50 state, district and county Republican Party chairs depict a version of the electoral landscape that is no worse for Trump than six months ago — and possibly even slightly better. According to this view, the coronavirus is on its way out and the economy is coming back. Polls are unreliable, Joe Biden is too frail to last, and the media still doesn’t get it. …
“The further and further the Democrats tack left, and the further you get to where it’s the defunding the police,” said Scott Frostman, GOP chairman in Wisconsin’s Sauk County, which Obama won easily in 2012 but flipped to Trump four years later. “I think we have the opportunity as Republicans to talk to people a little bit more about some common sense things.”
“The last time rioters burned and looted cities across the nation, they propelled Richard Nixon into the White House,” the Boston Herald observes. “This time they may help President Trump stay there.”
Defund the Police means just that
“Disband[ing] the police department would only be a first step toward full abolition,” The Nation magazine advises. It would lead to …
ending all forms of policing, evictions, imprisonment, courts, and racial capitalism. …
I cannot recall another time when protesters took over and burnt down a police station. It was an unprecedented and beautiful moment in the annals of rebellion in this country. By seizing the cops’ home base, rioters showed millions of people that they could defeat the police.
Milwaukee is on board. Eleven of the 15 members of the Milwaukee Common Council are directing the city’s budget director to cut the police budget by 10 percent. (Madison will follow suit. Count on it.) Never mind that homicides in Milwaukee are up 105% over a year ago. (Probably due to racism.)
Helping matters is Joe Biden’s decrepitude. Which is why his vice presidential choice is life or death. The Hard Left demands a fellow traveler like Stacey Abrams over, say, Amy Klobuchar. The social justice warriors are not good at compromise.
Trump’s original trump card, the economy, is already rebounding. Just out: U.S. retail sales soared 17.7% in May — the most on record and double forecasts.
Blaska’s Final Word: Never under-estimate the ability of the Left to foul its own nest.
How much crazier will it get?
I think this is absolutely true. I’m not a Republican. I’m very much a centrist. I’ve never voted for a Republican in a presidential election before.
But with so many on the left advocating for such insanity, I’d be terrified to vote for a Democrat at this point. This defund the police stuff is what made me decide to vote for Trump.

I made a similar decision four years ago. I was very much a leftie all my adult life. I became non-aligned during Obama’s second term. When Hillary started talking about going toe-to-toe with the Russians in Syria during the campaign, I switched my affiliation to the Hell No! party.
I was on the left because I was a heavy metal/punk rock kid in the era of Ashcroft, Reagan and the moral panics of the 80’s. I believed the left stood in opposition to overbearing state authority and in favor of individual liberty. I also believed the left stood in opposition to military adventurism. Maybe it always was a lie, maybe the left changed, maybe the left took a good look at authoritarianism and decided they could do it better.
It’s still weird as hell filling in a bubble next to R, but given the choice between zealots that hate my country and corrupt morons, I’ll take the morons every time.

Same decision after 911. I procrastinated in the voting booth for what seemed like hours. Got easier every cycle. In 2010 I voted straight party ticket. I did pass on Trump the first time. Now even sending him donations! Do wish he was a little more polished but he gives me more positives then most Democrats put together.

So like a typical troll you’re continuing down your rabbit hole with your deflection.
Richard putting any stock on political polls like that is a fools errand, I don’t give a hoot which way they lean, they are all unreliable as 2016 shows us. Remember in 2016, all the polls had Hillary Clinton winning by double digits? The only political poll that’s accurate is the one taken in the voting booth on election day. Only pundits, politicians, political hacks, internet trolls and foolish people use political polls, that are in their favor, as some kind of proof of anything.

The word “POLICE” or the “But Don’t Defend The Few Bad Cops”?
Please explain which and expand your opinion.

We haven’t seen nothing yet in terms of craziness. The collateral damage by defunding police will be catastrophic. The results will be as predictable as a sunrise in terms of more crime, death and destruction. The leftist pols will shrug and blame it on racism blah blah blah. But I guess when a zombie is behind your enemy and they are about to get eaten, you don’t tell your enemy to run. You tell them to be safe! But unfortunately innocent people will suffer and despite all the money that will get thrown at various problems, nothing will change for the better. The kids still will not read good or do math well and bad parenting/life choices will go unaddressed. The Democrat party left me at the end of 2012 and thanks to this great blog I will never vote for another Democrat again. The metamorphosis is complete…

Turnout, turnout, turnout. Nothing else matters. You can bet every TDS sufferer, SJW, BLM supporter, illegal alien, former felon and the prior deceased will be in line early to vote (at least once) for whoever is on the D ticket. Early predictions of anything from a squeaker to a landslide for any candidate are just wishful thinking…. More than ever, his is a numbers game…..

You have to get in line early. The way our voting system has been corrupted you have to take a whole day off from work and put your life at risk. In order to vote twice like you imply the polls would need to be open for three days .If your going to purge the rolls do the entire state not select gerrymandered districts.
