Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Boot lickers of the world, unite!

You have nothing to lose but your livelihoods

To Paul Fanlund, editor and publisher
The Capital Times
“Dane County’s Progressive Voice”

Regarding your latest editorial column: “Why many rich people keep a Faustian bargain with the GOP.”

TongueYou lost me when you labeled “conservative-leaning people among the educated professional class” as “boot-licking GOP toadies.” (Does that apply to moi?) That kind of crude Bolshie invective must thrill your fellow progressives, so often is it employed. (No wonder you defend Scot Ross.)

You can blame “rich people” and their Faustian bargains for the rise of Donald Trump (so why is Neiman-Marcus going out of business?) but we did not see you among the “Safer at Home” protestors  April 24 on the Capitol grounds: barkeeps, waitresses, farmers, and hairdressers and, yes, plenty of homemade Trump signs. Any hedge-fund billionaires were well disguised.

Tale of two headlines:

Pandemic could push 60 million people into extreme poverty.”

Quarantined Illinois residents head for Wisconsin”
“In the first weekend that bordering states Indiana and Wisconsin largely were open for business, Illinoisans traveled across state lines, confident they won’t get sick.”

Perhaps those blue collar workers had succumbed (in your words, Paul Fanlund) to “naked self-interest at the expense of decency and the common good.”

Mayor Satya called them “stupid” and Mark Pocan ascribed their viewpoints to “fear, paranoia, or manipulation.” (More here.) These “Deplorables” are accustomed to disdain from politicians, publishers, and other elites who collect their paychecks, come what may.

All while their taverns and hair salons remain shut down and farmers dump milk. You might want to read Cameron Gillie’s letter to the WI State Journal today.

I’m a small business owner and this lockdown will likely end the business that I put 27 years of blood, sweat and tears into. … I am a Democrat and no fan of President Donald Trump, but this dismissive attitude by the far left that ignores the pain of millions of hard-working Americans is precisely what fueled [his] win in 2016.

A final thought: Outside of white collar and tenured Madison, Wisconsin voted Trump; silver-spoon Connecticut went solid for Hillary.

Whose boots have you licked today?

I do not put much faith in WI State Urinal Editorials, especially from so called outraged lefty business owners. If they choose to vote for Joe “enrich your entire family pockets” Biden and whatever Social Justice nut VP the party chooses for him. Then it is just someone venting again but when push comes to shove they will head right back to semi-socia-fascist plantation for more ideas of failure.

” ‘Why many rich people keep a Faustian bargain with the GOP.’ ”

Paulie has some real nerve railing about the well-heeled; real Man Of The Common People, he!

Get this: His posh digs on Bayfield Terrace are assessed at over $600 large.

Get this 2.0: His assessment didn’t go up one thin dime from 2018 to 2019; anyone out there that can say the same?

Get this 3.0: The ~ 4600 sf shack FMV is well over 25 % higher; oh, forgot to mention the 800 sf in ground pool.

Is something rotten in Hill Farms? The Gotch thinks so, and can hardly wait to challenge his 2020 assessment and bring this up as an example; freakin’ hypocrite!

And Mr. Perkins above; your Myna has exceptional taste!

For me to remark that Fandlund is outta touch would be an irresponsible understatement. When/why do folks w/ a conservative bent (on BOTH sides of the aisle), become lick-spittle sycophants? Further, he claims, “… they make every topic a partisan brawl, as currently exemplified by attacks on Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’” What, Huh, Hey? Attacks or reasonable talking points… Jeez, Paul -Remember when Scottie was re-elected? Of course you do, so no need to remind anyone of incessant, unwanted & off-key Capital protests. Wow! Progressive, thy middle name is “projection”… To the benefit of all, this Fandlund fellow is easily ID’d as a nearly used up bog roll

Cameron Gillie, and his ilk, get no sympathy from me. He’s getting what he voted for… good and hard. He wanted a citizenry in service to the state. Now that it’s not working out so good for him, he’s having buyer’s remorse.

However, he’s not going to learn from this. He will continue to vote for the state over the individual. I would even wager that his zeal for government will be redoubled by the economic disaster at hand. He will desire that our future be mortgaged in perpetuity and every citizen be yoked to the plow. While the proceeds of their labor are expropriated by the state, to rectify a problem the state created and he voted for.

If Paulie writes but there are no subscribers to read it, did he really write it?

Remember right after Trump’s election? Fanlund, Nichols et al were completely befuddled. “How could the people of Wisconsin possibly have voted this cretin into office?”

So they vowed to get to the bottom of this and explain how son many people could have been “fooled.” I remember thinking at the time, good, maybe they’ll finally talk to a conservative who is not a racist, homophobe or head case; somebody who can actually explain their vote. Alas, sanity was nowhere to be found.

Some lefty “journalist” from the East coast came to the Midwest and interviewed the requisite number of knuckle draggers, to conclude that it was all about angry white men who were having their privilege threatened by this new fangled president of color. (It just took them eight years to figure it out.) Nobody could explain how it was that they had voted for Obama twice before, but that’s not important. What’s important is that they discovered that the only people voting for Trump were low income deplorables or greedy, cynical billionaires (Millionaires were thankfully given dispensation following the news that Bernie Sanders had joined their ranks.)

But here’s the truth. Paul Fanlund knows a lot of wealthy people. He has to. But in his view, they are not “rich.” See liberals are wealthy, while conservatives are rich. Wealthy people are generous. Rich people are greedy. One can only conclude that Paul Fanlund does not have a SINGLE intelligent conservative as a friend. Not one. This provides him with permission to dismiss half the country as “boot licking GOP toadies.”

The chances of an irredeemably hypocritical WEENIE being successfully reprogrammed are slim-n-none.
