Indeed, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is/are looking into a four-fold increase in COVID-19 cases in the Green Bay area. From 41 positive tests by April 7 the number of cases has spiked to 180.
Environmental health director Ted Shove said the county does not believe the elections earlier this month are responsible for the increases in cases in Brown County, at least so far. Brown County’s case total began to climb in earnest the day of the election, suggesting that polling sites wouldn’t have been the initial source of the spread. The average incubation period is said to be five days.
Green Bay’s mayor infamously opened only two polling places while spurning the assistance of the National Guard. (More here.)
A Michigan state legislator makes a good point about that state’s Democrat(ic) governor, Gretchen Whitmer. She is banning all “non-essential” activities instead of banning all non-safe activities. Boating may not be essential but putting out in the middle of Lake Michigan is not going to catch you the Wuhan Woo Hoo.
