During and immediately after Tuesday’s (01-28-2020) impeachment trial, Fox News interviewed U.S. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio; Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I.; and Adam Schiff, D-Impeachment.
Who did MSNBC interview? Schiff, Stabenow, Schumer, Tester, Durbin, King, and Brown — all Democrats. Oh, and Mitt Romney, who wants witnesses. “It’s remarkable how beaten down Trump’s defense looked.” Did Jay Sekulow look “beaten down”?
CNN is almost as bad. CNN beat down on Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, for wondering how Joe Biden would fare in the Iowa Democratic presidential caucuses a week hence.
Following an afternoon at the Senate impeachment trial in which President Donald Trump’s legal team made the case — without any established factual basis — that former Vice President Joe Biden had acted inappropriately in 2016 when he called for the resignation of the top prosecutor in Ukraine, Ernst told reporters this:
I’m really interested to see how this discussion today informs and influences the Iowa caucus voters, those Democratic caucus goers. Will they be supporting VP Biden at this point?”
CNN links to one of its biased fact checks that alleges:
Trump has repeatedly claimed that former vice president Joe Biden had called for the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor who was “investigating his son.” There is no evidence Hunter Biden was ever under investigation. The investigation was into the business dealings of the owner of a Ukrainian natural gas company, Burisma Holdings, where Hunter Biden sat on the board of directors. In addition, a former Ukrainian deputy prosecutor and top anti-corruption activist have said the investigation was dormant at the time. And chief prosecutor Viktor Shokin’s successor, Yuriy Lutsenko, has said in interviews this year that Hunter Biden didn’t violate any Ukrainian laws.

- President Trump’s counsel in the Senate impeachment trial made clear it was the oligarch owner of Burismawho was under investigation. Why the attempt to dissemble?
- Why do you think “the investigation was dormant at the time”? Could it have been the placement of the vice president’s son on the board of directors?
- You parse that the investigation “was into the business dealings of the owner of a Ukrainian natural gas company.” Do you think that might have been the afore-mentioned Burisma? Isn’t that the point?!
- You write that “Hunter Biden didn’t violate any laws.” No, Hunter was only the willing American vice president’s hostage, well paid to protect the owner of Burisma from that investigation. See: Biden demanding Ukraine fire the prosecutor or lose one billion dollars. Ergo, procter, hoc — the dormancy.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Joni Ernst isn’t the only one wondering if Joe Biden is toast. CNN is clearly worried that the Democrats’ front-runner might be burned crispy on both sides. Democrats brought this impeachment. Trump defender Eric Herschmann Monday evening warned, “Be careful what you wish for.”

Dave, Dave, Dave, you are missing the boat. Joni stepped into it big time. She openly admitted this whole Trump impeachment defense charade’s purpose was to hurt his most threatening opponent: Biden. Trump wants to run against Bernie, not Joe. Half the caucus goers haven’t decided who they’re caucusing for yet. Joni just helped a lot of them make up their minds. She’s also facing a tough re-election this year. And yes, I live in Iowa.
Meanwhile, Moscow Mitch doesn’t have the votes to block hearing from witnesses? How rich is this?! How many of his caucus suddenly went wobbly because 3/4’s of the country thinks it makes sense to hear evidence and witnesses in a trial? Mitt and Bolton have him by the short ones! And John Kelly piles on? This just gets better and better. Bolton completely shreds the Trump defense. Sekulow should have stayed on the 700 Club.

Meanwhile David Axelrod runs an 80 person focus group at U of I Chicago to discuss current events. He is amazed that not one person mentioned the impeachment. TV ratings show almost no one is watching it yet the Washington party is all in for a forlorn hope.
How can the Washington Party be so out of touch?
Biden never was a threat any more than Bernie is.

Hunter on that board? Unseemly, yes. Did it help them with the VP and American foreign policy? Not really. But Trump’s own words show his concern wasn’t corruption (hell, he IS corruption), his concern was embarrassing a political rival while going against stated US policy. And if you want to talk about kids, let’s examine how Javanka pulled in $120 million while collecting federal salaries. Oh, they’re just good businessmen while they happen to be working with China and the Middle East? Riiiiiight…

Further more, who would not consign a $1,500,000,000 hedge fund into said baby daddy’s care. What do China and Burisma both see that no one else does?

Pam Bondi, the former AG of Florida who buried an investigation into the fraudulent “Trump University” after her campaign received a $25,000 check from the Trump Foundation. Then there’s Jay Sekulow under investigation for defrauding his “christian” foundation and paying his family members millions received from poor and retired Christians. It seems anyone with even distant ties to this president is a crook.
