Identity politics returns to eat its own

“I think you just called me a liar on national TV.” — Elizabeth (“Pow Wow Chow”) Warren to Bernie Sanders after Tuesday’s Democratic presidential debate.

The chatter in the Policy Werkes break room is the dust-up whether Bernie told Elizabeth that a woman couldn’t be elected President. You just knew Democrats would return to identity politics like arsonists to the flames. The tragedy is that their amen corner in the news media is doing the same.

One of the CNN debate interlocutors asked Bernie this wife-beating“question:” 

“CNN reported yesterday — and Senator Sanders, Senator Warren confirmed in a statement — that, in 2018, you told her you did not believe that a woman could win the election. Why did you say that?”

Not “did you say that?” but “Why did you say that?”

Bernie vigorously denied this high crime and misdemeanor, said that he had urged Warren herself to run four years ago, pledged to support either of the two women on stage with him if nominated, and referenced talking up the possibility on a 30-year-old video available on You Tube. The Des Moines audience responded with enthusiastic applause. 

The CNN questioner remained on Team Warren. She turns to her candidate and asks: “Senator Warren, what did you think when Senator Sanders told you a woman could not win the election?” And you wonder why the news media polls less trusted than your gas station used car dealer!

⇒ Rolling Stone magazine (not exactly a Rupert Murdoch property) called CNN’s performance “villainous and shameful.”

⇒ John Kass in the Chicago Tribune calls it “cheap and unfair — stabbing him with the gender card on behalf of a weakened Elizabeth Warren. 

⇒ David Catron in American Spectator: “CNN operates more like the PR department for the Democratic National Committee … The last time Sanders ran for president, CNN commentator Donna Brazile gave Hillary Clinton advance copies of debate questions.… If it isn’t obvious, the DNC is terrified of Sanders. They know he doesn’t have a prayer of beating Trump.”  

Or could it be that CNN worships at the church of intersectionality, wherein it is apostasy to question a woman/minority/etc. who claims victimhood?

Speaking of villainous and shameful … 

•   ABC, CBS, and NBC ignored CNN’s settlement with Nick Sandmann, according to this analysis.

•   The high-minded manager of the 2018 World Series winning Boston Red Sox refused President Trump’s invitation to the White House. Wednesday (01-15-19) the team fired Alex Cora for masterminding the cheating scandal when he was with the Astros.

•  Nancy Pelosi dons widow’s weeds and fingers the rosary over the supposed tragedy of impeachment. Then why is she handing out commemorative pens emblazoned with her name? — as if signing the transmission document to the Senate is equivalent to a bridge opening ceremony. Did FDR hands out pens after declaring war on Japan?

Bern, baby, Bern!

Sanders may have the best sense of humor of any of the Democrats running for president. His is spontaneous, the others practice their one liners. His retort to Fauxahontas (notice how that LIE never comes up at a Democrat(ic) debate?) should have been:

“If the shoe fits!”

But don’t screw with the guy! “If Bernie doesn’t get the nomination or it goes to a second round at the DNC Convention, f**king Milwaukee will burn,” one of his aides said in a Project Veritas sting video. (We think he’s correct.)

Sign that the Republic is sound: Shown a photo of Adam Schiff, none of the candidates on Jeopardy could identify him. This impeachment thing isn’t tracking.
