We have said it before. Republicans would be their own worst enemy — Donald Trump, especially — were it not for Democrats. It seems the party of my youth is compelled to rip its issues platform from the university sociology and race & gender studies syllabus.
The New York Times is fretting that Democrats are handing Donald Trump and Republicans victory in 2020. “Democrats! Stop helping Trump!” bleats David Leonhardt. The Timesman notices that the generic party enjoyed a 53% favorable to 42% unfavorable among the electorate while Republicans were 43% good to 52% underwater. But that was then — a year ago.
Democrats today have frittered away that advantage to 45% favorable to 52% unfavorable. Exactly the same as Republicans, as measured by Pew Research Center. The GOP actually improved a smidgeon.
Blaska Policy Werkes would argue causation is three-fold: Democrats got a wedgie on Russian collusion, they continue to promote impeachment, and their presidential candidates are on the telly.
‘Democrats moving in the wrong direction’
In particular 67% of voters in an NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist Poll despise decriminalizing illegal border crossings. A fever dream, the NY Times sobs, supported by most of the Democrats. Similarly, slavery reparations: 63% bad idea. Abolish private insurance: 55% bad idea (40% good idea).
So, last night, MSNBC (yes, I tune in) reported the results of a North Carolina special congressional election. An image flashed on the screen and then disappeared almost before registering in the mind’s eye. For the Republican had won and by a larger margin against another can’t-miss Democrat. But MSNBC had more Trump bashing on its agenda so it was time to move on.
Leonhard this morning is vexed. “The Democratic Party’s performance is moving in the wrong direction.”
Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report tweets: “Dems underestimate how much room there still is to fall with these anti-elite voters at their own peril. It’s easy to see a very liberal, coastal Democrat faring much worse …”

- No national borders/abolish ICE
- Going door-to-door to confiscate guns

- Paid for by taxpayers
- Emptying prisons
- Throwing money at Baltimore and other troubled cities
- Transgender bathrooms
- Handcuffing the police
- Al Sharpton
- Higher taxes
- Creating new classes of victims
- Green New Deal
- Shutting down school choice
- Abolishing football
- Banning fossil fuels
- Kicking police out of schools
- Legalizing marijuana
- Shouting down speakers with whom you disagree
- Believing every allegation of sexual misconduct
- Sanctuary cities
- Destroying historic monuments
If you checked one or more you may well be afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome. If so, call your nearest Republican party hdq. Operators are standing by.

Many RINO’s are gone. The Koch brother(s), Paul Ryan, Jeff Flake et al are finito. Why? Either because they believed the Washington Party could overturn the election, or because they were called out on reneging on their conservative promises.
And this just in, Rush Limbaugh reports that Cumberland County 35% Black and very rural went for Bishop the Republican. Trump did not win this county. If Dems celebrate the gains in some suburbs and give up rural Dems its gonna come as a big surprise.

2020 -Seems some benefits from past/future Democratic faux pas…. The NYT today. “18 years have passed since airplanes took aim and brought down the World Trade Center. Today, families will once again gather and grieve….,” the Times’ verified Twitter account wrote…. . B4 that lede was revised, just about 100% of sentient beings in the USA decried it’s abstruse and ignorant declaration. One might add it was stupid, too, as the revered grey lass continues its descent into decrepitude (and irrelevance)

You are aware that Lefties (most, not all) have been in dangerously immersed in catatonic/apoplectic, pillow-biting, mouth-breathing, weenie-whiny, simpering-whimpering complete metaphysical, emotional, existential, psychological, philosophical, full-throated, freaking out, melting down, totally collapsing free-fall since late 11/08/2016 early 11/09/2016?
As this is not an enviable state of affairs for those perilously close to the dark abyss to begin with, do you really think your irreverence, however…um…well-intended, will prove helpful…?
