Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this statue! Mr. Lt. Gov., pay yer taxes!

This, that, and the other thing.

How do I offend thee? Let me count the ways

NPR Oregon reports that the terribly “woke” students at the University of Oregon demand the removal of its iconic statue, “The Pioneer,” after 100 years of corrupting liberal minds.

So white, so male

Students and faculty have denounced The Pioneer as, in the words on one students, “a monument to violence and white supremacy.”

History doctoral candidate Marc Carpenter told the Daily Emerald that there a statue celebrating European settlers is like a confederate monument in honoring “violence and white supremacy, and I don’t think those are values that we want to have as a community.”

That’s nothing, Madison yanked out the first permanent grave marker, erected in 1906, that listed 140 names of Confederate soldiers who died as POWs here in Madison in 1862. Somehow, the stone, which replaced the second generation of weathered-out wooden boards, represented a celebration of slavery. (The individual markers that remain came after the stone.)

We sense a GoFundMe campaign coming up

Or a telethon. From WBAY-TV: The Milwaukee treasurer’s office says Wisconsin’s newly elected Democrat(ic) lieutenant governor, Mandela Barnes, has failed to pay $2,225 in property taxes, interest and penalties on his condominium. This, on top of unpaid parking fines! Madame Brenda Konkel of Madison’s Progressive Dane asked why the latter was news? Y’think maybe unpaid taxes is news?

In your face!

Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu dedicates the newest Israeli town, located on the Golan Heights (formerly greater Syria). Wonder what the taxes are on condos there?

Great! But how does one define it?

Wisconsin Rapids anti-bullying measure would fine parents. Greg Humphrey writes:

On Tuesday, June 18th, it is very possible the nation will learn about the resolve of the Wisconsin Rapids Common Council to act against bullying.   … The ordinance would prohibit bullying, harassment, and retaliation against anyone who reports such incidents. The measure would also hold parents and guardians responsible for such behavior of children younger than 18 years old. Penalties for a first fineable offense would be $50, with additional costs bringing the total to $313.

I’m votin’ for diss guy!

Maybe if Blaska had taken this approach, he would have gotten 30.2% of the vote (instead of 30.1%).

This Democrat makes some sense

Tulsi Gabbard, who represents Hawaii’s Second District, also doesn’t belabor her sex, her ethnic background (Samoan) or her religion (Hindu). “I think identity politics, again, is one of those things that is unfortunately being used to divide us. . . . [it’s] a dangerous road to walk down,” Ms. Gabbard told me in a podcast interview, lamenting fellow Democrats and the media for often treating Americans “as though we are the sum of the color of our skin.”

Since she launched her campaign for President in January, liberal media outlets have scorned her. NBC News published an article alleging that she had the backing of “Russia’s propaganda machine.” The Daily Beast charged that she was being “boosted by Putin apologists.” — from the Wall Street Journal.

Making America great again — WMTV NBC-15 is bringing back an old tradition. It will play the national anthem as it switches to the next broadcast day which, in these days of 24/7 broadcasting, appears to be 3:58 in the morning. Seem to remember one of the Green Bay stations playing the Lord’s Prayer with a waving flag on the screen as it ended its broadcast day at something like 1 a.m. That would be in the late 1960s while I attended (occasionally) UW-Oshkosh.

Correlation or causation? — The Babylon Bee finds a strong correlation between watching soccer and being bored out of one’s mind.

Gee, I wonder how large the flashing headline would be over Madison.com if former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch owed unpaid property taxes? 14 point? 18 point? I’m waiting for Barnes to claim racism as the ‘root cause’ for him being a deadbeat.

Li’l Jeffy’s got some ‘splainin’ to do.

It’s doubtful he’s been overworked with trying to keep up with his joke-of-a-HYPER-PARTISAN blog, which has been (heh!) nicknamed U.S. Route 50.

Speaking of a possible “Go Fund Me” for Mandela Barnes: Sometimes More is Less…. TWO GoFundMe’s for Ms. Torianna Pettaway, for a total of $17,326. Thus far, $575 pledged since Mid-March. Chris Rickert @ madison.com reported in early May,

“Madison’s first racial equity coordinator Toriana Pettaway given ‘last chance’ to keep job”

NOT just pickin’ on Torianna…. In her own words, Torianna supports her plea fer FREE BUX thusly:

“I’ve had a spotless decades long record of community service, public service and private services and spearheaded change initiatives that are still strengthening our community years later…. ”

That same unbelievable subterfuge/rhetoric/ignorance permeates just about every local Social Warriors daily agenda. Up to & including the view of Jennifer Cheatham’s awesome tenure in the Emerald City.

As the Squire says: “It’s called “the soft bigotry of low expectations” — itself, a form of racism.”

May get worse B4 it get’s better.

When Thomas Jefferson read Lewis and Clark’s report on their travels, he predicted that the vast territory he had acquired through the Louisiana Purchase would take 500 years to settle. In fact, it was settled in fewer than 70 years (if one uses the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869 as a convenient historical marker). What Jefferson failed to take into account in making his prediction was 1) the Industrial Revolution, and 2) the Pioneer Spirit. According to the PC fanatics at the U. of Oregon, it seems the intrepid souls who settled the West were nothing but white supremacists bent on the destruction of Native Americans and the lands they inhabited. I wonder how many of the privileged whiners who want to tear down the Pioneer statue can trace their ancestry back to the very folk who set off in their prairie schooners to make new lives for their families with nary a thought of manifest destiny in their heads (they were too busy worrying about surviving while enacting their own version of the American dream). The comparison to tearing down Confederate monuments is all too apt. Madison, lacking a genuine monument but determined to join the iconoclasts’ bandwagon, settled on removing a marker to the victims of a POW camp. I would add the posthumous lynching of Porter Butts to the list of innocent victims demanded by the Left’s insatiable maw.

(Fun fact: the official mascot of UW-Platteville is Pioneer Pete. Wonder how long it’ll be before he’s sent to the scaffold.)

Oh the saccharine sweet irony that would result were the gimmee gimmee REPARATIONS grifters to extend their shakedown to include SJW’s.

Pioneer Pete? Oddly enough, I just started binge-watching Deadwood last week.

Would LUV to see the handwringers present their Social-Engineering ideas to Gem Saloon owner Al Swerengen, after which even Wu’s pigs would pass.

This well beyond you, but here goes; I’m quoting an on-topic observation to which I provide a response whose content is, though questionable on any number of levels, still both original AND addresses the topic.

It’s hell-n-gone from how I quote, and respond, to your legendarily off-topic, maniacally imbecilic slobberings.
