Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Will Brenda Konkel litigate cops in school?

Brenda Konkel, doyenne of the cop-bashing Progressive Dane political party, is set to cause more trouble. She’s vetting an ethics complaint against school board president Gloria Reyes for voting to retain cops in Madison’s troubled high schools.

madame brendaThis is the same Brenda Konkel who advertised for someone to file a complaint against Chief Mike Koval. Madame Brenda writes:

Gloria Reyes continues to work for the City of Madison. [Blaska: true. Don’t know how Reyes parlayed an appointive position as deputy mayor but maybe she had bumping rights from her police officer days.] She works in the Community Development Division.

2. The city is the vendor in this case.

3. She is not allowed to “participate in” the district’s purchasing process. However, she made the motion to accept the contract! You can watch the video or read my transcription yourself here.

4. And in the very least, she should have at least disclosed! Plus physically removed herself from the table and refrained from participating or voting. Technically, we’re dealing with some more [XXX] language and the policy only addresses conflicts in “closed session or a “workgroup” meeting and during a “regular” meeting. This was a “Special Board of Education Meeting in Open Session – WORKSHOP.” None of these words are included in the definitions section of the policy.

  • There was a violation of the school board policy by the school board president in that she works for the vendor (city) and participated in deciding if that vendor got a contract;

  • It’s unclear how to file a complaint;

  • It’s unclear what the consequences of filing a complaint would be;

  • The state of ethics in local government needs to be taken seriously and addressed;

  • Does anyone care? Ethics?

Blaska’s Bottom Line: The Madison Board of Education did sneak this one through, advertising the Monday, June 10 meeting as a “workshop,” typically a non-voting meeting, instead of taking up school resource officers at its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on June 24. The Madison Common Council won’t be so lucky. Freedom Inc. will be ready this time.

    If that’s the case how is it that Ali can be on the school board and cast her vote. If I recall her husband, Sandy Welander is a teacher in the Madison School District. Be it voting on teachers salaries or getting cops out of schools wouldn’t this be a conflict of interest? Maybe Brenda can answer that question for us.

    Poor Brenda, sad Brenda, eminently ButtHurt Brenda.

    Awww; she’s still monumentally chafed that Former Mayor Bike Shorts didn’t invite her along on his excellent European BIKIE Junket Adventure nine years ago.

    Speaking of school boards and their “taken-for-granted” intelligence/foresight, and Brenda’s critical thinking, check this out….. Marshfield School District paid $660K to scammers…. Brenda would/could eat from this for months….

    I’m guessing Brenda Konkel to be a proud graduate of Oberlin College. They just used 11 attorneys to to claim poverty in the face of an $11M, no wait, $44M award for falsely accusing a family of being racist. (Something that would never occur on this blog, of course).
    And now comes Karma in every dark, tenured heart of higher education. ‘What have we done? They shriek as one and when can I retire?’

      Many private small businesses in Madison have bought into the raysist/diversity grift. SWPLs trying to out virtue one another is a thing here. They’re dues paying members. Konkel et al shops at the co-op, the co-op collects dues for Konkel et al’s grifts.

      This is how childless harpies spend their time. Messing with your children’s school district.

      Well; you “guessed” wrong again. She studied law at UW Madison. Apparently from what she posted someone else was “guessing” at this ethics complaint that was supposedly filed. Ethics Complaint? What ethics complaint?

    Cops in school is a scapegoat and distraction. The usual suspects don’t want to address the real issue, which is dealing with failed parents and their voilent children in schools. Anti social behavior run amok, tolerated by the administration. It doesn’t matter if cops are in school or not when violent children are being placed in schools, despite knowing full well they were violent to begin with. Criminal values beget future criminal values. Scientificly known, yet the usual suspects and the district keep pretending it’s not happening.

    Cops in schools is really a red herring employed by childless wokers with no skin in the game.

        You must be reading a different article than the one you posted. State law says a balanced budget is a must do. Projections and estimates abound, but remember whose in charge …Vos and Fitzgerald. Looks like your going to have to budget a few extra bucks to keep the plates on your 10 year old Ford Focus thanks to them.

    Were Brenda to devote the same time/effort to important tasks like finding triple-EEE size 14 espadrilles that don’t pinch, she might find some blessed relief. Then she would be less inclined to sue anyone/everyone -and she could perhaps get something real accomplished…..

    AOC had nothing to do with it except sticking up for the workers. NY is a union town (God bless the unions) and they told deBlasio and Cuomo to screw off with giving the richest man in the universe 3 billion dollars of their money. Unlike Vos and company who gave Foxconn 4.5 billion and now want to change the contract. Vos even tried to lie about it and got caught. I only hope thast once this foxpoop deal blows up it will cost Vos and the gop their jobs. NO MORE CORPORATE WELFARE.

The goobers on parade found 4.5 billion for this FoxCon, but can’t find money for roads, healthcare or schools. Now they changed the laws for landlords so they can screw their tenants even more than usual. Thanks Vos and Friends. Yesterday I heard someone say, “We used to pay people for getting things done. Now we pay them for making sure things don’t get done. A task is environmentally studied to death, locally, state DNR then county, then you must comply with set asides for women, minorities, unions, pols re-election coffers, permit granters, inspectors…….
    We needed to elect someone who has accomplished tangible projects in SPITE of the folks paid to block progress, then maybe we can have sane regulations, reduced costs and tangible progress.
    ……… wait a minute.
    Nahhhh, let’s have Governor Moonbeam’s Stonehenge otherwise known as the bullet train from Fresno to Modesto.
