Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Was it Hillary Clinton who colluded with the Russians?

How did this baseless witch hunt ever get started?

Maybe Hillary can tell us

There is a reason Rachel Maddow put Hillary Clinton front and center on her MSNBC program Wednesday night. That reason can be described by the acronym: C.Y.A.

The 2016 GOP convention chants of “Lock Her Up!” may yet come true. Because the real story out of Attorney General William Barr’s appearance Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee is that the legal bloodhounds are on Mrs. Clinton’s trail.

That Barr’s four-page synopsis of a 480-page report did not capture every nuance is the Democrats’ feeble attempt at diversion. Fake news.

Wm Barr
“We have to stop using the criminal justice system as a political weapon.”

‘The definition of “collusion” ‘

From the Washington Times:

Attorney General William P. Barr revealed Wednesday that the Justice Department is looking into the possibility that Russian operatives fed disinformation to the Hillary Clinton campaign during the 2016 presidential election season.

Mr. Barr told a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing about the expanded scope of a review into “the activities over the summer of 2016,” which included vehemently anti-Trump FBI senior officials making key decisions on the investigations of Mrs. Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump.

One key question is how much the FBI relied on the dossier compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele, using information gleaned from Russian sources, which helped spur the Trump-Russia collusion narrative. The dossier was funded by payments from the Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee that were hidden in campaign finance reports behind payments to a law firm.

“That’s the definition of collusion,” said Sen. Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, the chamber’s senior Republican.

The whole Steele dossier appears to have been bunk, with even Bob Woodward now saying the “highly questionable” document “needs to be investigated.”

A star is born

Missouri’s new senator, Josh Hawley, was focused and downright percussive. (By contrast Ben Sasse, R-Nebraska, whom I deeply admire otherwise, stumbled over a question in search of a point.)

Hawley repeated the arrogant, smirking Peter Strzok saying that he stopped at a WalMart in southern Virginia (well outside the capital beltway) and “could smell the Trump support.”

“I cannot believe that a top official of this government, with the kind of power these people have, would try to exercise their own prejudices – and that is what this is: it’s open, blatant prejudices – and would try to use that to overturn a democratic election. That’s the real crisis here.”

We share Barr’s frustration:

“How did we get to the point here where the evidence is now that the president was falsely accused of colluding with the Russians and accused of being treasonous and accused of being a Russian agent and the evidence is now that was without a basis, and two years of his administration have been dominated by the allegations that have now been proven false?”

“To listen to some of the rhetoric, you would think that the Mueller report had found the opposite.”

Here in Wisconsin

RightWisconsin observes:  Justice Abrahamson is a lame duck herself, yet she dissented on issuing the order to reinstate Walker’s appointments approved during the “lame duck” session. NEWS FLASH: a governor’s term ends when his successor is sworn in, not on election night. Same for legislators.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: It is a separate question, yet to be decided, whether restrictions placed on the governor’s powers violated state constitution. But the Walker appointments will stand.

Loved Barr’s delivery–an exquisite balance between deadpan and cavalier. He was absolutely right to refuse to make a second appearance today. If Dems had had questions of any depth or significance to ask, they could have done so yesterday. Instead, they chose to spend their time preening, grandstanding, and virtue-signaling. What a crew! And their fearless leader, Jerry Nadler, looks like he’s been constipated since about 1992. The media loves to castigate Trump for his vulgarity and generally oafish behavior while casting this bunch of narcissistic losers as defenders of Democracy. Barr should be applauded for treating them they way they deserve.

Jeebus, Dave, sure you guys need to deflect, but loosen the tin foil. Many parts of the Steele dossier were determined to be accurate, and the FBI would’ve been derelict not to pursue it. (I never believed the pissing hookers part, but Putin clearly has something on Trump.)
Sen. Mazie Hirono ripped Barr a well-deserved new one yesterday. He lied to Congress and the American people about the Mueller report. He should resign. And he was a coward for refusing to show up in front of a Dem-chaired committee today. If truth was on his side, he would’ve appeared. This ain’t tiddlywinks.

AG Barr couldn’t have erred, misspoken, misunderstood or anything human. Oh no, he lied said our resident truth detector.
Now we should ask ourselves why the need to demonize our attorney general? Why rob him of his credibility, never heretofore challenged.
Why? Because he is Nemesis to Clapper, Brennan, Strzok/Page et al. in the FBI, and finally to the naked emperor himself.

Again no direct collusion found between trump and russia. Direct collusion was found between Russia agents and Hillary team. After a complete and thorough @n@l cleansing by the fiercest and most partisan team of investigators they could not charge Trump for anything. Trump has always been loathsome, arrogant and in the public eye of scrutiny since the 70’s. He is not a nice person he tends to surround himself with controversy. Through a very thorough investigation they were able to indict some of his team for crimes that were not related to the investigation what so ever. Some were process crimes.

Rosenstein and DOJ last year said electoral votes were not changed because of Russian attempts at interference in out election. Thanks Obama . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1409sXBleg
    Cold war is over now.

Now obstruction, It is all about framing of obstruction. Did he delete emails, smash hard drives and sim cards to impede the investigation. no but I am sure he thought about it but a thought or thinking out loud does not make that a crime. Just as I am sure he had discussions with his counsel on all of his options. firing rosenstein, firing mueller, firing sessions. He may have even given those orders in heated moments. Does that make “attempted obstruction” or “conspiracy to commit obstruction” . The big issue when there is no underlying crime and a person allowed the millions of documents, interviews, etc how can you say he obstructed. He is not a lawyer or an attorney like most of the past presidents does that make him not fit to be president that is a different discussion.
He uses his counsel and trusts his counsel to advocate for him with in legal frameworks to give him the best outcome.

There are more investigations being looked at in secret by SDNY, so far no leaks which is strange. He is being investigated by NY AG so far no leaks which I find to be strange.
I ask myself why wasn’t Don Jr and Jared indicted after trump tower meeting as a conspiracy to commit treason in and election. Me thinks the answer is classified somewhere in
Utah archives. Mueller did not want open pandora’s box upon himself. “cough – setup – cough”

There was no moral equivalence, as Trump said, between the two groups of protesters at Charlottesville. He said it too many times to be wiped away by the ONE time he made a point of excluding the neo-Nazis and white supremacists, even though it was their protest, that they organized.
