You can run, Madison school board; but can you hide?
We see that the Madison Board of Education is going to take its show on the road next Monday, April 29, in a desperate attempt to evade the F-bombing mob that disrupts their every meeting.
They’re hoping that the race-baiters can’t find Chavez school, 3502 Maple Grove Drive, Madison, WI 53719. (Starting with a “meet and greet” at 5:15 p.m.) That’s on the outskirts of Verona! About as far as one can get from Doyle Administration on W. Dayton Street and still be in the MMSD!
Maybe Freedom Inc. and Young, Gifted & Stupid don’t have GPS. Or that they won’t rent a bus to get there. If they did, would it be the crazy bus? After all, why should they obey the rules of the road? The crazy bus will lurch all over the road, the sidewalks, and front lawns of the white supremacists and their “Everyone is Welcome” signs in three languages. The crazy bus will break the speed limit, then block traffic at will.
The cops won’t stop them because Monica Adams, Bianca Gomez, Brandi Grayson, Nino Rodriguez, Amelia Royko-Maurer et al don’t trust the police.
Here’s an idea: camouflage Chavez elementary school! Put up a sign that says “Police Station.” Park a couple squad cars out in front.

Last time at this news stand we praised Greg Humphrey a profile in courage for posting a “Blaska for Safer Schools” sign on his turf in the Marquette/Williamson neighborhood, right in the heart of Bernie Sanders nation.
(Greg, you’re too hard on “We Support the Madison Police.” It’s not their fault that too many on your side of the fence demonize law enforcement. You got to understand that Madison’s crazies are driving people into the arms of people like … well, Blaska!)
Would that there have been a few more courageous citizens. These names come to mind for lack of courage:
Dave Cieslewicz. The former mayor has condemned identity politics on his Isthmus column; he could have spoken up.
The Madison police union considered endorsing Blaska because he is the only candidate on the local ballot who speaks out for the police. But the union chickened out. Worse, the unionized cops endorsed Satya Rhodes-Conway, Progressive Dane, for mayor! She subscribes to every shackle the Berkeley consultants propose placing on police!
Madison Teachers Inc. None of the candidates you endorsed pleaded for patience until the police finished their investigation into the Whitehorse middle school incident. Instead, those candidates acquiesced with their silence as the superintendent and school board president Mary Burke threw “Mr. Rob” under the school bus and forced his resignation without once getting his side or the many witnesses who took his side, including the other students.
Sheriff David Mahoney foolishly endorsed Ali Muldrow even before the candidate filing deadline. Muldrow, of course, wrote Progressive Dane’s cops-out-of-schools manifesto. Mahoney is either a fool or and a shill.
The Madison Chamber of Commerce. No, Blaska did not make a direct appeal to these guys but at some point they’re going to have to jump in the mosh pit to save our schools.
Wisconsin State Journal for their non-endorsement for Seat #4. The edit page acknowledged “Blaska is right that a police officer should stay in each main high school to promote safety, and that disruptive students should be accountable for their actions. But he goes out of his way to provoke Madison liberals and score political points, while offering few solutions.”
Few solutions? Blaska was the only candidate on the April 2 ballot who strongly advocated:
- abolishing the Behavior Education Plan;
- returning control of the classroom to teachers, and
- keeping cops in the schools.
All as the most effective way to ending the racial achievement gap and to allow teachers to teach and kids who want to learn to succeed.
Blaska also promoted more school district charters, whether instrumentality or not.
Yeah, all that was a provocation to Madison liberals. These are things MMSD can actually control and would have profound impact. Ask yourself this: what solutions did any of the other candidates propose? … Still waiting. … Other than Ali Muldrow’s dance classes for seventh graders? No, I can’t, either.
‘Behavior plan sets up kids for failure’
So, all seven members of the Madison Board of Education are buying in to Jen Cheatham’s Behavior Education Plan. The BEP is both symptom and cause of classroom disruption.
Interesting comments on the Isthmus website where Dylan Brogan broke the story about the Leopold elementary school incident.
The plan for the BEP is to just let children do what they want, and that literally reinforces the school-to-prison pipeline, because in the real world, doing whatever you want can land you right in jail. Children need boundaries, love, support and education that focuses on the whole child. MMSD, what is your plan for teaching kids how to come back from a negative experience and make it right? …

Leopold is not the only school where children who repeatedly wreck classrooms, use foul language daily, and feel free to not only curse, but also hit, spit at and push teachers. A brave journalist like Dylan [Brogan] should spend a day in a Head Start Center where, out of the mouths of three- and four-year olds, the F bomb flies and one of the favorite names for a teacher is “bitch ass.” Go to an elementary or middle school and watch children of all ages feel free to say, “I can do what I want and you can’t touch me.” — Ana
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Would that teachers and students be able to run from chaos in their classrooms like the school board runs from its own meeting place. How about, Madison school board, you set an example and run an orderly meeting by insisting on discipline even if it means calling in the police.

I completely understand that you have the freedom on your own blog to say whatever you like, and that many of your supporters would defend your language until their dying days. I would challenge you, however, to tone down the insults of people you don’t like or disagree with on this blog. You comment all of the time about how students need to respect teachers, police, and other adults, and yet you are openly mocking other people and groups constantly. I urge you to lead by example and show more respect.
Please keep in mind that you have no idea what my political affiliation is; I am only trying to bring about some decency in this world.

And those are lines in the sand are fine to draw. Not swearing is not the same as respecting people. If a student were to call a teacher “Old, Gifted, and Stupid,” based on your language in paragraph 3, you would probably have them placed in detention for not respecting adults. And yet you throw around language like that like it’s acceptable. Consider your influence; that’s all I’m saying.

My childhood brain was very different than my adult brain. It was still growing and needed to learn things like respect for authority and not to curse at teachers. Having attended Catholic schools K through 12, I would have probably been expelled had I acted like that. But we’re all adults here. As someone who’s pushing 60, I’ve earned the right to make up my own mind about what to read and believe. If I don’t like what someone writes, I’m free to not read it.

These youngsters are simply parroting what all the adults around them preach. It is probably all they hear and know.
Better adjectives are; manipulated, pawns, tools, dupes, brainwashed, uneducated, etc.
The adults on the other hand are fair game, although the word stupid is a poor choice even for the adults because it does not convey the message you intend.

I was merely referencing your comment about detention – that there’s a difference between being a young person having to learn the rules of living in a civilized society, versus an upstanding adult who uses a disagreeable term out of probable frustration. I look at context rather than cherrypicking terms and phrases.

This thread is too funny. Y’all still are refusing to ignore the simple truth. There is NO consensus about culture, language, and assumptions about appropriate human behavior(s).
There is little, if any, hope for those of the ‘underclass,’ a term used by the CBC. The total culture of the underclass has almost nothing to do with traditional American values and ethics. Members of the underclass are unlikely to ever comprehend the fact that their culture is deficient in so many ways.

This isn’t about me, or you, or anyone in particular. Please don’t go down that path. You and I can be critical of other people; we all are.
I have a six year old son, and I’m trying to teach him that words matter and that he should be careful because others may follow in his example. And when I read posts like this, where a grown adult is opening mocking groups and others, it breaks my heart a little. It should break yours too, if you consider yourself religious. We should all be offended at this attitude, but we’re too immune to it.
“Be kind.” I tell my son, almost every day.
Maybe more people need to hear that.

Mr. Mores is what is know as a Concern Troll. For those unacquainted; a Concern Troll enters a conversation with the intent to undermine or blunt an agenda. They do this by feigning benevolent concern regarding effectiveness or propriety of the agenda advanced by those they oppose. In this case advocating for passivity in response to the physically aggressive, obscene, and dumb as a bag of hair, Young Gifted and Entitled.
Passivity of the normal citizens is what allows the grifters, parasites, and general trash to install themselves within a community and it’s government. In street crime there is a process know as The Interview. This is where a mugger interacts with a potential victim to size them up. During The Interview the criminal is trying to determine if the level of resistance the potential victim is likely to give is worth the potential gain. Passivity during The Interview is one of the things that turns a potential victim into an actual victim.
Right now Freedom Inc and Young, Gifted and Whatever are up in Madison’s grill trying to figure out if they can push us over and help themselves to what’s in our pockets. It it’s in our interest to convey to them that would be a poor choice.

Even though I think my assessment of you was correct and my reasons for disagreeing with you clear. I’ll play along.
Sure, we should have respectful discussions with those we disagree with. However, when those you disagree with have made it clear they have come for a fist fight and not a conversation, it’s time to throw down. One need only look at any of the recent district meetings to know that respectful disagreement is not the game being played. The game is force and intimidation.
The thing to bear in mind is that these people simply don’t disagree with us. They see us as an evil that needs to be removed from public discourse, if not outright destroyed. In their fevered imaginings, they believe we are white supremacists and Nazis (They also think a well cared for lawn is a function of white supremacy, which kind of tells you where they’re coming from). People do not have respectful conversations those they believe to be evil, and such is the case here.
Being respectful to these people conveys they notion that they and their ideas are worthy of respect and lends them an undeserved legitimacy. I think I will stick to treating them as the conglomeration of grifting hood-rats, mentally ill, and disaffected suburban youth that they are.

Yes, you’ve clearly stated your point with examples and with all due respect, it’s the same story that’s been happening for millennia. Both sides think each other are evil, ravenous animals out to control the world. It’s nothing new. Quite frankly, I’m sick of hearing about the blame.
Have you ever had to stop two kids from arguing over something? Johnny stole my car! Tommy called me a bad name! What do you say to them? You tell them to knock it off, shake hands, and get over themselves.
What you, and almost everyone else on this comment thread has suggested, is that those responses are only for kids, and that by being “adults” we are free to make our own choices and be mean to people that are mean to us. And it starts with small, almost overlookable comments like calling someone “stupid” on a blog post.
The lesson that we all need to learn is to knock it off, shake hands, and get over ourselves.

I was not amused to learn this week that my middle school MMSD kid is only one of five or so kids participating in gym. The rest I guess are just playing on their phones or roaming the halls or whatever. Where’s Barack and Michelle? Oh, have some kale chips, but you don’t have to exercise if you don’t FEEL like it.

Actually Michael, the vast majority of hate continuously spews forth from the Left but one wouldn’t know it if only watching MSNBC/CNN etc. and reading radical regressive Left writing.
If you are a conservative speaker trying to give a lecture on virtually any publicly funded campus this is glaringly evident. Or if wearing a MAGA hat in public, or out for a meal and harassed, or handing out conservative literature on any campus/street corner, or trying to speak for three minutes at a Madison council/board meeting etc., etc.

We are just doomed to go on hurling childish at one another? Believe me – I like doing that – and I’m pretty good at it. But what is the point?
Michael Mores gets it. He is literally reaching out a friendly hand to shake. And mostly what he gets in return are sideways glances and snarky comments from people who say liberals have lost any sense of civility. I’m sure “victimhoodies” doesn’t really mean anything. Wisconsin is chilly. Using that made up word is only a racist term if the person who reads or hears it takes it that way, right?
How are we going to expect kids to respect one another, or anyone in charge, if we can’t even stop calling one another names every chance we get?

The main thrust of your 0545 comment above is accurate Sprocket, just not the part stating M. Mores is a “concern troll.” Mores explains how counter productive it is to label Young, Gifted, and Misguided as stupid. That is not “advocating for passivity” nor is it feigning anything. Mores has made his position quite clear and there is nothing wrong with it.
Indeed, Madison’ local rabble-rousers have been conducting “the interview” for some years now and are steadily progressing their agenda. They very well understand the guilt saturated timid mindset of Madisonians and capitalize on it. These political/social agitators are more about tearing down than building up.
