The party’s over for the Trump-crazed Left

Cue up Dandy Don Meredith. As he used to croon during a Monday Night Football blowout, “The party’s o-ver!”

Or, as Gertrude Stein said of Oakland California, there is no “there” there.

The Mueller report is definitive as in “case closed” — there was no collusion with Russia. That verdict demolishes the faith-based belief that Trump somehow stole the election from the Hildabeast with the able assistance of his fellow autocrat, Vladimir Putin.

“We now know definitively … that Robert Mueller, the special counsel, and a team of very accomplished, mostly Clinton-supporting, prosecutors were unable to find evidence of a conspiracy that had been taken as an article of faith by Trump haters,” writes the one true conservative columnist for the New York Times, Christopher Buskirk.

Rachel Maddow, Anderson Cooper, Adam Schiff et al are rolling little iron balls in their hands. But … but … but … what about the attempted cover-up? Obstruction of justice! Obstruction of justice! What’s behind those Magic Marker blot-outs? Tax returns! Tax returns!

reign-of-terror-tumbrel-wikimedia-640x480

Yes, Trump told White House counsel Don McGahn to ask assistant A.G. Rod Rosenstein to fire Robert Mueller. Did McGahn do so? No, he did not. What justice was obstructed? Presumably, the President could have replaced McGahn with a more complaisant A.G. or badgered Rosenstein himself. After all, Nixon did replace Elliott Richardson with someone who did fire the Watergate special prosecutor.

A big nothing burger

“Obstruction of Nothing,” is how the Wall Street Journal headlines this morning’s (04-19-19) lead editorial.

Mr. Mueller essentially reveals a President behaving in predictable Trumpian fashion at being investigated for a crime he didn’t believe he committed—and which even Mr. Mueller now concedes he didn’t commit. There was no underlying crime, and the investigation continued with full White House cooperation. Mr. Mueller knows about these Trumpian eruptions because the White House turned over mountains of documents and allowed him to interview anyone he wanted except the President.

Nothing in the end was obstructed. The FBI probe continued after Mr. Comey was fired, and Mr. Mueller wasn’t interfered with. Mr. Mueller prosecuted those he could find enough evidence to try to turn for state’s evidence, but there was no coverup because there was no collusion with Russia to cover up.

Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler can investigate all they want. Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham should remind them that the U.S. Senate can also investigate. Why, for instance, did federal investigatory agencies take the Hillary campaign-funded Fusion Report and run with it as if it were a signed and witnessed deposition?

Former Nebraska senator Bob Kerrey, a Democrat writes “Rather than investigating the President further, Congress needs to investigate how the Department of Justice got this one so wrong. If the President of the United States is vulnerable to prosecutorial abuse, then God help all the rest of us.”

Off with … somebody’s head!

Like those French Revolutionists who decapitated the statues adorning Notre Dame cathedral because they they mistook them for French kings, Trump Haters demand cargo for their tumbrels. New York magazine’s Jonathan Chait argues that Attorney General Robert Barr’s behavior is grounds for impeachment — of the attorney general!

David Leonhardt of the New York Times points out that the Washington Post’s Harry Litman has Barr’s deputy, Rod Rosenstein, in his sights.

MSNBC’s Morning Joe is reduced this morning to feeding on crumbs even the pigeons won’t touch. “Mueller report reveals Sarah Sanders lied to press in 2017.”

A press secretary, bending the truth?! Say it ain’t so, Joe!

The American people are fair-minded. The law of diminishing returns has already kicked in. Stock in the Russian Collusion market is plummeting to the baseline. At some point, even Don Lemon, Chris Hayes, Michelle Goldberg will move on to fresher game.

The investigation and report show a hostile foreign power undertook a massive and systemic effort to affect the outcome of our presidential election. But that’s not illegal. The campaign and the Russians attempted numerous times to work together, yet couldn’t quite manage it, largely thru ineptitude. But that’s not illegal. Trump lied repeatedly about Russia and continues to do so. But that’s not illegal. You see this report as vindication? Only in a “stand up in court” kinda way. Don’t the ten redactions due to ongoing criminal investigations make you curious? Somehow I don’t think you’d be saying “let it go” if the parties were reversed.

If you were on trial and the jury found you not guilty–in a ‘stand up in court’ kinda way–would you demand that they resume their deliberations until they find you innocent beyond the shadow of a doubt, or would you heave a sigh of relief and accept their verdict?

Two of those are real courts, one is a metaphor. I assume your original remark referred to a real court. The Mueller investigation was conducted by a legion of lawyers who were skilled in applying the standards of American justice, not those of the court of “public opinion.” That’s the one presided over by the liberal media.

Impeachment will be determined by the court of public opinion and Pelosi and the Dem leadership is right; the public isn’t there yet. I wouldn’t count on Trump not screwing up bigly and the spinoffs of Mueller may yet bear criminal fruit. The congressional oversight and committee investigations should continue; the public will eventually just get tired of the constant examples of Trump’s corruption and chaos, the destruction of our institutions, and the slide to fascism. But I agree the Dems should move on from Mueller and get back to things the GOP and Trump have no answer for, like healthcare and climate change.

I do love the leftie hysterics over foreign interference in our elections. This while they work to import millions of illegals and buy their votes with citizenship.

Did Russia work to defeat Hillary? I’m sure they did. Being good little globalists, the Democrats were spoiling for a fight with Russia long before the elections. Hell, it was her insane babbling about creating a no-fly zone in Syria that got me off the sidelines in that election.

Did it effect the outcome of the elections? Maybe? Probably the most damaging to the Democrats were the DNC emails that revealed they were back-stabbing Bernie, and the Podesta phishing hack that had transcripts of Hillary doing her best Tiajuana prostitute impersonation for Wall Street banks.

The remainder was a big whatever. The social media trolling coouldn’t hold a candle to the organic free-range leftie fruitcakes. The leaked campaign information didn’t cause Hillary to simultaneously ignore and crap on flyover country. Hillary was a bad candidate with a bad strategy, end of story.

The most interesting thing to me about 2016 was the contrast between the Republicans and Democrats. The Democrat establishment sabotaged their outsider candidate, the base went along with it, and they lost. The Republican establishment tried the same thing, got curb stomped by the base and the outsider won. If the Democrats weren’t so stupid and corrupt, they’d most like have had president Bernie.

Not only is THIS party over, so is the one scheduled for November of 2020. So far, the three frontrunners in the oh-so-diverse pack of Dems aspiring to the presidency are white males–two geriatric, one adolescent. At least it will be interesting to see how far left–i.e., well into the realm of absurdity & irrelevance–they push one another by this time next year.

Wisconsin doesn’t have an electoral college (alas). If it did, Walker would still be governor. One of the most delicious features of Trump’s re-election will be to–once again–relegate NY, CA, MA, and other Democrat fiefdoms to their rightful place: outside looking in.

No. Authoritarian dictates that I must buy a government product or be prosecuted. Authoritarian is I must pay for someone’s abortion.
