Black Lives Matter propaganda on February’s curriculum

Parents of Hamilton middle school students are being encouraged to participate in a Black Lives Matter teach-in that demands No Cops in School. The message those parents received this week infers that the effort is school district wide.
They’re even hawking tee-shirts sold by the teachers union!
Along with other schools in Madison, VHMS is participating in the Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action Feb. 4-7. You will be hearing more about activities planned for the week. For now, we are offering families the opportunity to buy the Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action t-shirt that MMSD staff all over Madison will also have for the Week of Action.
One of Black Lives Matter four stated goals is “Fund counselors, Not cops.”
Police Chief Mike Koval told the Policy Werkes:
It is best that MPD stay in our own lane and defer to curriculum choices that MMSD feels appropriate in providing for an engaged and well-rounded student. Certainly, I support having courageous conversations about topical issues of our day as educators strive to give all of our children the skills of discernment and critical thinking.
To that end, however, one of the bullet points that was on the flyer — “counselors not cops” — is an unfortunate dichotomy. We would support more counselors AND cops in our schools as it is our belief that characterizations predicated on adversarial tones or couched as an ultimatum is unfair; cops and counselors can and do work collaboratively in achieving the best possible resolutions for our students.
School-to-prison pipe dream
The Black Lives Matter website promulgates the familiar canard that racist schools are incarcerating innocent minority students — that the students have no agency over their own behavior.
In this era of mass incarceration, there is a school-to-prison-pipeline system that is more invested in locking up youth than unlocking their minds. That system uses harsh discipline policies that push Black students out of schools at disproportionate rates; denies students the right to learn about their own cultures and whitewashes the curriculum to exclude many of the struggles and contributions of Black people and other people of color.
Politics in Madison schools? As long as it’s liberal-progressive-socialist politics, certainly!
A civics class Tuesday at Madison West high school featured Michael Moore’s tendentious agitprop, Bowling for Columbine.
Update from the school to prison pipeline
An 11-year-old boy was stabbed in the back with a pair of scissors Thursday by another 11-year-old boy, after they got into a fight at Sennett Middle School.
The boy with the scissors was taken to juvenile reception on a tentative charge of second-degree reckless endangerment. — from Capital Newspapers.

As a former school district employee, I would bet that if any employee chose to wear an “All lives matter T shirt” they would be asked to remove it or face disciplinary action!

Even by Madison standards (and there are none lower) this kind of agit-prop staggers the imagination. I’d love to shadow a middle=school or high school student to see how much of this cop-hating, refugee-sanctifying liberal bullcrap they’re exposed to on a daily basis.

What about a week of celebration for Swedish-Americans, Nigerian-Americans,Brazilian-Americans, Belgium-Americans. Danish-Americans, Swiss-Americans, German-Americans,Polish-Americans, Russian-Americans, Czech-Americans, Holstein-Americans; Buffalo-Americans—- etc….

We simply reallocate an infinitesimal portion of the absolutely mindboggling amount of resources the U.S. spends every year on a Science we’ve been repeatedly told is Settled, which would be the Global Warming That’s Here And Worse Than The Models Predicted
Along with that, have the Lefty media shift their attention away from pushing the Climate Catastrophe (or whatever they’re calling it these days) and assist the increased number of educators that would advocate/emphasize fact-based reality critical/creative/problem solving thinking skills/focused hard work/personal responsibility/deferred gratification in education, instead of Victimology/Environmental Justice/Bitterness-Destined-For-A-Life-Of-Dependency Studies.
It would be (to lift a poignant reference from my pal @Batman): a Manhattan Project type of effort; one that’s LONG overdue!

Nonsense. We are talking Madison Wisconsin; not world wide climate change. Unlike your pie in the sky (plan?) How about we simply pass an amendment here in our state to automatically take 1/2 of all lottery revenue and ear-mark it for schools. Throwing it into the general fund to be pi$$ed away would stop. Or; round up gas prices. Point 9 is nonsense. Round up, take the lousy 1/10th of a penny and give it to schools. I understand your point about climate change money, but you never just get to the point. You always start ranting and half of your post is a long list of /////////////// that is meaningless. Walker broke the unions so how would more teachers and smaller classes give them this great windfall you speak of.

It’s worth noting in this argument that Wisconsin spends around $11,000 per student and MMSD spends around $14,000 per student. This puts us on par with such third world hell holes as Switzerland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. We spend more than enough on education. The problem is not a lack of money. The problem is incompetence, graft and sabotage.
As evidenced by the embrace of BLM, our children are being educated by people who see our society as evil construct that needs to be destroyed. Is it surprising they fail to produce students that will be successful in a society that they hate?

According to public data for Sherman Middle School — one local school in the news this year, the student:teacher ratio is 11:1. In my book, an adult teacher should be able to control 11 students. Let’s try to apply facts here, Richard, not teacher union talking points. Thanks.

According to public data Milw Co. is 17:1 with some schools going into the low 20’s:1. Cherry picking one middle school in beautiful Dane Co doesn’t give a complete picture.

What’s astonishing is Milwaukee schools have a budget of nearly $1.2 Billion. They spend $14400 per student, slightly more than cherry picked schools in beautiful Dane county. Of course the only cure for these under performing institutions is give them more money. Just imagine how much failure $1.3 Billion could buy!

Embrace it. What plans do you think the identitarian left has for you, your family, your nation and culture given that they believe all those to be inherently evil? Nice idea of course, but there will never be enough of them to compensate for irresponsible reckless procreation by selfish young people that have no business multiplying but expect society to become the parents of their offspring so they do not have to.

Sorry. After over 3 decades in the classroom, smaller classes and greater $$ spent on teacher remuneration/benes, ( 80% of district expenses) would have negligible impact on outcomes or school culture…
Zero Tolerance policies , in the main, are effective. That is an empirical experience.

When bad behavior is excused/explained away and no consequences administered, what is the incentive to change it??? NONE. This liberal attitude has been around Madison for as long as I can remember and look how things have regressed. There is no racism involved here, just attitude and behavior. Racism is always brought into the picture as an excuse and everybody backs off. It works…. When something works, why change. The cycle goes on and on and in the end, it’s the cops fault. I would be willing to bet that if no police were in schools, fights would be a daily activity Violent behavior would escalate faster than it does now. Police have become a target I would be willing to bet that if the police took an entire day off, most people would be locked inside their home, afraid to venture out. The criminals would be out in full force, victimizing anyone out and about. What was yours would be just that, WAS.
