Father allowed to remove 3-yr-old child before car is hijacked

Handgun pointed inches from father’s head

More doings from our new ‘neighbors’ at Tree Lane?

Straight from the Madison Police blotter:

Incident Type: Robbery

Incident Date: 12/05/2018 – 5:52 PM

Address: 6514 Schroeder Rd. (La Petite Academy)

• Black male, 5’8″ to 6′, athletic build, wearing black mask and black clothing.

• Black male, 5’8″ to 6′, athletic build, wearing black mask and black clothing.

Male, age 34, Edgerton, WI

He had just picked up his three-year-old Wednesday afternoon and secured his daughter in her car seat. But before the Edgerton father could pull out of the lot at La Petite Academy, 6514 Schroeder Rd., both front doors of his Toyota Prius swung open. There was a masked man outside each door, and the one next to the driver’s side was pointing a handgun – from one to two feet away – directly at the father’s head.

He demanded the victim get out of the car. As he did, the gunman ran the 34-year-old dad’s pockets, taking his wallet.
If there was to be any mercy, it was that the carjackers did allow the victim to safely get his daughter out of her seat before they took off in his Prius.
MPD officers swarmed the area, and the car was soon recovered in the 7500 block of Tree Lane. Music was playing, and the front doors were wide open. The robbers were gone, as was the victim’s wallet and electronics, including his work laptop computer.

        @Zoltar Speaks!;

I believe Mr. Kriewald is referring to this after Mensan Brain Trustee District 3 Alder Amanda Hall slobbered effusively that the reason some miscreant was dealt the taxpayer relief shot was because society didn’t step up and help him make the right choices.

Incidentally, his choice happened to be attempting to rob a savings institution with an armed guard that didn’t hesitate to fulfill his duty.

Correct. And the bank where the miscreant received his well-deserved “taxpayer relief shot” was not the first financial institution he tried to relieve of its funds. Not that that fact would staunch the tsunami of compassion for victims of the white heteronormative capitalist patriarchy for which Madison liberals like Ms. Hall are renowned.

Imagine those words being spoken by upper-middle-class white Madison liberals wringing their hands over the unfortunate circumstances that compelled the two thugs to make the “bad choice” of car-jacking an innocent citizen and his 3-year-old daughter. Just in case you made the mistake of thinking that the latter were the real victims. Hope that clarifies matters.

  3. People in need to pay much better attention to their immediate surroundings and make positively sure their doors to their vehicles are locked IMMEDIATELY when they get in and the doors are shut. If any unknown individual(s), I do mean any, are loitering around the area near your car simply act like you forgot something and go back inside (take your children with you) and either wait till they leave or call the police. I’d call the police and I’ve done that a couple of times at West Towne Mall at Christmas time, one of those times the police arrested the person.

You don’t have to be paranoid, but you should be aware enough to notice things that are unique and seem to be out of the ordinary. For instance; when you see one or more people that “seem” to be on an intercept course with you or your destination in a parking lot (they come in all shapes and sizes), simply change direction, if they seem to change with you, go back inside. A few minutes out of your life to avoid a possible confrontation with a criminal is a lot better than having to actually deal with a direct confrontation with a criminal; no matter who you are or what your capabilities are always try to avoid such confrontations if possible.

By the way, there are gangsta wannabes in Malls at Christmas time looking for heavy loaded shoppers (especially people they observe purchasing expensive electronics) and either spot for buddies sitting outside in cars or follow people out of the Mall. I had one that started to follow me as soon as I left the Apple store with a big bag at West Towne Mall a few years back, after he followed me through a couple of random rows of cars in the parking lot close to the Mall entrance (no where near my own car) I noticed another guy coming from another direction – I was damn sure they were both following me, I turned around looked directly at the closet guy when he was a couple of car lengths away and took his photo – he instantly turned and ran the opposite direction and so did the other guy. Did I avoid something, quite possible based on their actions; did I just scare the shit out of some innocent people, ya’know, I really don’t care, I was in a position where I perceived a nearing threat and I took care of it in a non-violent “confrontational” manner, then I called the police. If they had ignored my confrontational actions I would have walked back towards the Mall door which I made sure wasn’t too far off.

When ordinary law-abiding citizens have to strategize like this in order to reduce the risk to their safety during the course of their daily routines, you can be pretty sure the quality of life in your community no long meets the standards of civilized society. A goal Madison reached at least a decade ago.

      • Cornelius Gotchberg says:

        @Gary L. Kriewald;

“When ordinary law-abiding citizens have to strategize…”

        It get worse.

UPDATE:: 2nd carjacking at a day care in 2 days; teen had gun pointed at him.

A 15 year-old, FIFTEEN!!!, has a gun pointed at him before he’s “allowed” to remove his 8 & 9 year old siblings.

And Restorative Justice will be an acceptable approach to scumbag P‘sOS that’ll aim guns…at the heads…of kids…in Madison??

We’re careening toward critical mass at terminal velocity; how long before Paul Kersey clones are roaming our fair City’s streets?

    Two proactive ideas.
    1. Move away from the Utopia of Dane — (as I suggested yesterday)
    2. Buy and carry a cheap, secondary cell phone. So, if they take your purse or ask for your phone and wallet, you can give them the dummy. Keep you good phone some place else when in a suspect area.

    • Sprocket says:

      3. Procure a firearm, a CCW, and train. It’s only going to get worse.

Though, moving is probably a better option. I once found it ironic that I had to move to a much less dangerous place to get a CCW. That is no longer the case. I think Madison has reached a critical mass of human garbage. As the school board has shown, the lefties in charge are more than happy to accede to the demands of the savages.

      • Sprocket wrote, “3. Procure a firearm, a CCW, and train. It’s only going to get worse.”

The CC firearm is useless if the person has no chance to use it. If you read the details of the incident it’s likely that the Dad would never have had a chance to use the firearm without extensive CQC training and that particular firearm would now be in the hands of the criminal.

Better awareness of this Dad’s surroundings was the key for him to not get into that particular situation.

        • Sprocket says:

Agreed. He failed long before he had a gun stuck in in his face. I suspect Mr. Prius has not experienced any place more dangerous than the olive oil bar at Whole Foods prior to this. It’s a certainty the criminals were clearly signaling their bad intentions and Mr. Prius either failed to see or failed to recognize who and what they were.

The most important part of self protection boils down to the old adage “Avoid stupid places, avoid stupid people, and avoid doing stupid things.” However, when that fails, nothing says stop doing bad things like a couple of hollowpoints in the chest.

Also, drive a stick shift like I do. They likely have no idea how to drive one.

  6. Gary L. Kriewald says:

Not long ago, a violent crime in which the life of a three-year-old child was put at risk would have been on the front page of the WI S and would have prompted widespread outrage among Madisonians. Now it’s buried several pages in and I suspect most readers reacted with a shrug and a tsk-tsk. Draw your own conclusions.
