Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Trump is building a wall against progressive identity politics

But alienating the middle,
who are getting tired of this Schitt

For those of you who spell it Faux News, Chris Wallace is a true journalist. (As are Bret Baier and Shepard Smith.) In his interview that aired Sunday, he pushed President Trump hard on skipping the Meuse-Argonne cemetery and the traditional visit to America’s Tomb of the Unknown soldier on Veterans Day —  among other issues. (Unlike a certain CNN grandstander, Wallace was polite.)

It was despicable that Trump would take off on Admiral McRaven for not taking out bin Laden sooner. (“He’s a Hillary supporter.”) Has there been a more personally insecure man in the White House than Donald Trump?

donald-trump-2005343_640

Yes, the Lord High Commissioner of the Policy Werkes blows hot and cold on Trump — likes his politics (for the most part) but despises his personal pettiness. (Yes, the incoming chairman of the House Intelligence Committee is a real Schitt but destroy him with wit and aplomb, not unpresidential profanity. )

The UK has this figured out: a prime minister does the politics and a monarch conducts the ceremonies that glue a nation together.

Trump the blunt instrument came along at the right time, when the conservative cause was beginning to slide into Gerald Ford /George Bush me-too-ism, afraid to confront the most dangerous threat to American democracy since Communism. That would be identity politics.

Like Marxism, identity politics robs individuality and everything human that goes with it: accountability, responsibility, agency, and personal dignity. It subsumes individual identity into classes — types — based on such externalities as race, gender, age, economic status, etc. All are helpless victims of The System, dependent on the saving graces of Big Gummint. Think Obama’s “Life of Julia.”

There are no finer essayists writing today than Joseph Epstein, a University of Chicago professor and frequent contributor to the Weekly Standard.  He explains that:

Americans turned to Trump to roll back the progressive tide.”

(“He’s a wall against the wave.”)

… the progressivism that edges into socialism, that is said to attract the young, that promises a newer, kinder America … exalts identity politics and has no argument with political correctness. As one looks upon the people who attend Mr. Trump’s rallies, one sees the faces not of Hillary Clinton’s “deplorables” but of the proletariat out of which Karl Marx’s dictatorship was supposed to derive. Yet these people, despite the progressives’ promises to them of free Medicare, free college tuition, and the rest, want nothing to do with Sens. Warren, Sanders, Booker & Co. Quite the reverse: They loathe them.

The man who attends a Trump rally turns on his television set and that night’s news leads off with a Black Lives Matter protest in his city. If that city is Chicago, he might recall that this year some 2,619 people have been shot, 475 shot and killed, the preponderance of these being black people shot by black youth gangs. If it is another city, there is a distinct possibility, as fairly often in the past, that the protest will lead to looting of nearby shops. Al Sharpton, nattily turned out, is likely to have flown in for the festivities to remind everyone about the world’s injustice. …

A number of highly intelligent Trump supporters I know are perfectly willing to acknowledge the president’s manifold flaws. They voted for him, and probably will again, because he is not Hillary or Barack Obama or Chuck Schumer. …

The pull to the left of the Democratic Party is Donald Trump’s greatest hope for re-election, while Mr. Trump’s behavior is the greatest force pulling Democrats still further to the left. …

Do not discount incumbent fatigue

Trump will not always have Hillary Clinton (although she seems to have other fantasies.) Democrats may just be smart enough to nominate a Jon Tester or Tammy Duckwirth instead of an Elizabeth Warren or a Cory Booker.

But Trump the needy narcissist is eating his seed corn. He is pissing off the military. (That started with dissing John McCain’s heroism). His casual brutality and general loucheness (he is the loucheness monster) is losing the suburbs. Republicans under-performed even in Wisconsin’s WOW counties in this month’s mid-terms. Hellz Bellz, Trump lost Orange County, California. Reagan country!

The party will never say no to an elected incumbent who wants a second term. Hasn’t done so since Franklin Pierce, a Democrat, in 1856. So, one hopes Donald Trump will announce victory and retire to Mar-a-Lago to be succeeded by another candidate in the mold of Ronald Reagan and Tommy Thompson. A happy warrior with the courage of Churchill and the principles of Bill Buckley. (Where is Stan Lee when we need him!)

As for now, Epstein laments, “Politics has rarely seemed so dismal.”

Blaska’s Legal THC Pipe Dream: Wouldn’t Lindsay Graham be fun?!

If your pipe dream is Sen. Graham, mine is Rep. Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin’s 8th district. Young, articulate, thoughtful, smart, photogenic, Princeton grad (with a major in Arabic!), PhD. in International Relations from Georgetown, former Marine. The Republicans ought to be grooming him for stardom on the national stage.Imagine the seismic shock among Democrats if Trump were to step down in 2020 and the GOP nominated a young, vigorous, charismatic dark horse like Mike. Especially if he’s up against an old fossil like Hillary or Biden or Bernie.

Are you asking how the voice of reason would fare against an empty-headed socialist ideologue and a grandstanding huckster/sleazebag? Pretty well, I’d venture to sy.

Senator Tom Cotton, also a vet and an ‘Arvard grad, is worth a review as well.

Trump, himself, would be a disaster. He has alienated too many people for legions of reasons. Narrowly beating Hag Hillary was not that difficult, kind of like UW varsity playing the JV’s at Randall Elementary School.

Tom is head and shoulders above any national Democrat, but there’s something to be said for new blood (with mid-western roots). That said, I’ll still vote for Trump if he runs in 2020.

Lot of revisionist history and wishful thinking going on here today. I’d say President Trump has happily surprised many who could, at first, barely stand to vote for him. There is a huge machine built on determining an “outrage du jour” and a lot of money to be had to reshape everything he does or does not say into something evil.
    It gets old.
When we’re constantly told he’s a wolf but turns out to be an effective watch dog people notice.
Not long ago the MSM could bring, say, either Presidents Bush approval ratings down low, they cannot with Trump.
They are stuck on blind hate and are thus hard to believe and easy to manipulate.

          How’d that turn out?

And didn’t Hopey Changey claim the world would incinerate because The Donald pulled out of the bogus Paris Accords?

Why yes, yes, I believe Hopey Changey DID claim the world would incinerate because The Donald pulled out of the bogus Paris Accords!

          How’d that turn out 2.0?

OUCH!!!; from the EPA no less.

It’s very curious that EVERY Orange County race went (R) on election night, some by several points, but absentee/provisional votes swung EVERY one to (D).

Similarly curious that there are first-person non-anonymous tales from people who requested absentee ballots and got 4, 5, or 6 of them by email and surface mail.

    Probably all just co-incidence.

Just think, 10 short years ago, Lefty was basking in Hope-n-Change.

Now? The field makes suffocating delusion seem like safe harbor.

    To wit:

The new blood (Booker, Harris, Ocasio-Cortez, Avenatti, et al) wouldn’t be able to generate a synapse between ’em, am I right?

    Then there’s Sweaty Betty Beto.

    ♫You’s Beto watch out♫ You’s Beto Not Cry♫

    ♫You’s Beto Not POUT♫ I’m Telling You’s ♫Why

    ♫Sen’tor Cruz ♫Done Kickin’ Yer @$$♫!

O’Rourke should sew up the Felon Vote, they’d be able to relate!

Robots don’t have to be programmed in Espanole
      Robots don’t spread diseases
Robots can’t sue for “wascism,” etc.

The lower class? In the next economic contraction, they’ll become criminals or destroy the welfare system. Same with “Medicare” for all. Worse than a Trojan horse for the long run. The US does not need 2-3 more armies of the unskilled, uneducated, wascist, chauvinist, foreigners. Disagree? Ask the Common Council to send a fleet of buses to pick-up 20,000 illegals next month and 30,000 the month after.

Benefit —- more caddies at the local courses and better access to cartel-peddled drugs.

While I understand David’s point, I believe he is mistaken. “Wit and aplomb”, is no longer the game we are playing. The days of Reagan and Tip O’Neil are long gone. We are dealing with a Democratic party that has embraced identitarianism, it’s time for the Republicans to do the same.

Trump won because, unlike the feeble establishment (Hi Paul Ryan), he was willing to punch the Democrats square in the face. It’s telling the Republicans are still sitting in the corner, hugging themselves and rocking back and forth, waiting for the bad orange man to leave. These people are hoping to ride out the Trump era and go back to mouthing platitudes, collecting graft and rolling over for the Democrats.

If you listen to Democrats, it is clear their goal is the complete suppression or destruction of conservatives. It’s time for us to embraces this game. Every time some Democrat accuses us of being woman hating racists, a Republican needs to be in front of the cameras telling the nation Democrats are America hating socialists who want to steal your wages for their welfare parasite base.

As an ex Navy Seal, Crenshaw could (covertly) knock some sense into certain semi-retarded dems while challenging and humiliating the spineless rinos.

And if Crenshaw ran in 2020, Trump wouldn’t be able to utilize his disparaging nickname tactic because it would backfire bigly.

Considering the fascist world the regressives want to create, all free thinking sentient beings must recognize how insidious Lefty governance truly is. Trump is a pussy cat in comparison.
