Kids just wanna steal cars
WEST: Recovered Stolen Auto – 8:16 pm. July 9 — A resident reported observing several young subjects get out of a vehicle, leave it there, and jump into another vehicle before fleeing. Officers responded and recovered the vehicle which was reported stolen out of Fitchburg.
Mall cop is hazardous duty
4:55 pm. Saturday, July 6 — The victim (27-year-old WM), a security guard at West Towne Mall, approached a group of juveniles which included the suspect (13-year-old AAM), and began filming the interaction in a common area of the mall. The suspect attempted to slap the phone out of the victim’s hand but was unsuccessful. The suspect then punched the victim in the head. All three juveniles fled the scene on foot but were apprehended nearby by MPD officers. The suspect was charged with battery and transported to juvenile detention.
14-year-old burglar missing
9:50 a.m. Friday July 5 — While officers were conducting follow-up on a burglary complaint, the mother of one of the involved subjects/suspects (14-year-old AAF) advised that the juvenile had not returned home. The juvenile was therefore listed in the appropriate databases as missing/runaway. There are charges pending for the suspect once she is located.
1:27 pm. Friday July 5 —A vehicle involved in a hit and run crash was discovered to be stolen from a previous incident. The vehicle was located near Churchill Dr and Post Rd. The occupants fled on foot. A K9 track was conducted but the suspects were not found.

6:12 p.m. Thursday July 4 — Officers responded to East Towne Mall for a report of a disturbance. Mall security asked the subjects to leave the premises but the suspects refused. Investigation determined that three suspects (17-year-old AAF, 20-year-old AAF and 13-year-old AAF) and two victims (50-year-old WF and 60-year-old WF) were involved. The victims included a mall security officer and a community member who attempted to intervene to help. The 17-year-old suspect pushed the security officer and physically assaulted the community member. The security officer got hit again by the same suspect. The 17-year-old suspect was arrested for 2 counts of battery, trespassing and disorderly conduct (conveyed to jail). The two other suspects were charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing (cited and released).
1:43 a.m. Officers responded to the 500 block of State Street for a fight in progress. Officers arrived in the area quickly which caused the subjects to scatter. Upon review of City cameras, 15-20 subjects were actively fighting with approximately 60-100 other subjects watching. No subjects involved were located/arrested/charged at this time.
More car jackings
2:32 a.m. Friday, July 5 — Officers responded to Briar Haven Drive for a report of several subjects (3 AAMs) possibly breaking into vehicles. Officers arrived in the area and observed two vehicles flee at a high rate of speed. Officers did not pursue the vehicles/subjects. A vehicle in the area was later reported stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen
