Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Sen. Feinstein plays Joe McCarthy

Another high-tech lynching

[ This UPDATE from National Review: “Every Supreme Court nomination brings some antics and political stunts, but the Democrats have really turned it up to eleven with Kavanaugh. The constant interrupting protesters throughout the confirmation hearing, Cory Booker’s “I am Spartacus” routine, Kamala Harris’s blatant dishonesty about Kavanaugh’s positions and writing, the implausible “Kavanaugh refused to shake my hand” stunt from the father of a Parkland-shooting victim, and now this last-minute evidence-free vague accusation. Even by the standards of shameless political stunts and grandstanding, this feels . . . disproportionate.” ]

The cloistered inhabitants of Stately Blaska Manor are waiting for the usual shrill voices to be heard to defend Democrats’ conduct in the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. So far, all they are hearing are Simon and Garfunkel.

“Hello Darkness my old friend …”

LaughingJoe copy
Atta-girl, Diane!

Bad enough the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee couldn’t even introduce the nominee before the interruptions began. That signaled the crazies in the audience to begin staging their own outbursts.

Getting three times the documents of the last three Supreme Court nominees, combined, wasn’t enough. Democrats on the committee demanded documents belonging to President George W. Bush, as well.

But does it get any lower than Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-California?

“I have received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court,” Ms. Feinstein said in a statement. “That individual strongly requested confidentiality, declined to come forward or press the matter further, and I have honored that decision. I have, however, referred the matter to federal investigative authorities.”

Sen. Feinstein had this letter since well before the hearings began. Did not ask Judge Kavanaugh about it in 40 hours of grilling. Made no mention in her opening remarks. Discussed it not with chairman Grassley.

The Wall Street Journal reasonably asks, “If the ‘information’ is worrying enough to send to the FBI, why did Sen. Feinstein wait so long? … The charitable explanation is that she didn’t think the information was credible enough to warrant investigation, but that now under pressure from her colleagues she felt obliged to surface it.”

Never mind the colleagues. Feinstein is fighting for her job. The 85-year-old couldn’t get the endorsement of her own California Democratic party in a race against a much younger Democrat facing her in the November election (thanks to the state’s jungle primary). Therefore, the incumbent feels pressed to extreme measures.

News outlets, fed from well placed leaks, report the letter alleges sexual hijinks in high school some 35 years ago.

“Are you now or have you ever …”

‘Me-Too,’ Brutus?

The Blaska Policy Werkes suspected that demagogues would weaponize the #MeToo frenzy for partisan political purposes. Joe McCarthy did the same thing with the legitimate concerns over communist subversion. Secret information, innuendo, speculation. Those were his tools; Feinstein only borrows them.

Like Diane Feinstein, old Tailgunner Joe disgraced himself and his cause. Then again, Democrats “Borked” one nominee and conducted a high-tech lynching of another, Clarence Thomas. It’s what they do.

Platinum subscriber bonus residue: Brad Schimel requires staff to sign non-disclosure agreements? Jim Doyle did likewise before being sworn as governor in late 2002. The news media made no big whup then.

Maybe your just ignorant of the fact that the only person that she said was in the room at the time also denied that the incident happened.

VERY naïve statement. You seem to conveniently forget the epic cynicism of Lefty INC?

Parkland’s Emma Gonzalez wearing a CUBA patch when she can’t even speak Spanish, l’il Davie Hogg taking a Gap Year to help with the upcoming mid-terms, and who can’t wait to run for office himself??

          Isn’t that cute?

Howse about Cindy ‘America out of Iraq, Israel out of Palestine,’ Sheehan? She couldn’t find Israel on a map, much less Palestine.

          Cannon Fodder!

Lefty generally, and Le Resistance specifically, believe they are secularly ordained to use anyone and anything, then spit ’em out when their use by date arrives.

This hearing(s) about Kavanaugh and his accuser before the Senate committee is going to PISS OFF WOMEN; older women who remember how Anita Hill was treated and are still bitter about it, younger women who look at #MeToo and say “Of course we’re familiar with that crap men pull. No more.” The Democrats learned their lesson from Clarence Thompson. The 12 old white GOP men on the committee are going to try to discredit this woman and they will lose women votes for the GOP. Think Trump can keep his tweeter mouth shut? Good luck with that. YOU GUYS ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY! Prediction: Kavanaugh withdraws.

A few more recent predictions that fell juuuuuuuuuuuuuust a tad short of fruition:

      Read ’em & weep!

*Hillary Clinton will be elected president
Frank Luntz on Twitter, November 8, 2016: “Hillary Clinton will be the next President of the United States.”

*Trump won’t be the Republican nominee
Dana Milbank in the Washington Post, October 2, 2015: “I’m so certain Trump won’t win the nomination that I’ll eat my words if he does. Literally: The day Trump clinches the nomination I will eat the page on which this column is printed in Sunday’s Post.” (bolds mine)

*There will be a viable independent or third-party candidate
Bill Kristol on Twitter, May 29, 2016: “There will be an independent candidate–an impressive one, with a strong team and a real chance.”

*The Republican National Convention will be contested
John Kasich on Face the Nation, March 20, 2016: “Nobody’s going to have the delegates they need going to the convention. Everyone will fall short.”

*Women will form a firewall for Clinton against Trump
Washington Post’s The Daily 202, November 3, 2016: “College-educated white women are Hillary Clinton’s firewall.”

      *Red states will go blue
Kyle Kondik in Politico Magazine, November 3, 2015: “Carson and Trump, through their lack of experience and long histories of overheated rhetoric … could even prompt a wholesale rejection of the Republicans in certain districts down the ticket, effectively making 2016 a Democratic wave year.”

*Hillary Clinton will defeat Bernie Sanders in the Michigan Democratic primary in a landslide
FiveThirtyEight, March 7, 2016: “Hillary Clinton has a greater than 99% chance of winning the Michigan primary.”

*Merrick Garland will be confirmed for the Supreme Court
Harry Reid, March 17, 2016: “I’m confident he is going to get approval.”

*The United Kingdom won’t vote to leave the European Union
Matthew Shaddick to International Business Times, June 17, 2016: “‘Leave’ needs to be well ahead at this stage in order to have any chance of winning, unless they can convince voters that staying in the EU is riskier than leaving. That’s not going to be an easy sell when most of the nation’s political parties and representatives of big business are mostly saying the opposite.”
