Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Come visit us Sunday, July 8

Come visit a picturesque piece of history on Sunday, July 8. This is St. Wenceslaus Church, built by my ancestors on “the Island,” high bluffs overlooking low land bordering the Crawfish River in the Town of Waterloo, Jefferson County.

B&W ChurchMy great-great grandfather Johann Fiedler built the pews of this little church, erected in 1863. The immigrant Blaskas, coming here from Bohemia in 1852 to Chicago, settled on the Island in 1854 but left five years later, before the church was built. But their son John Peregrin married Anna Fielder in that church in 1884, as did my Lovely Lisa and your humble Squire in 1974 and their son the Amazing Max was baptized there in 1977. So this church means a lot to the Blaska’s and so many descendants in the Sun Prairie-Marshall-Waterloo area and beyond.

Do visit our website and come out for an old-fashioned summer picnic in a very old and hallowed place in the real Wisconsin this coming Sunday, July 8.

If I’m off work I’ll be there. Amazing what immigrants have done for America. All my grandparents came here after WW1. No money, no education, didn’t speak the language. When I was 5 years old one of my grandfathers got his papers. That Nov. he went to vote for the first time in his life. I sat there and watched him put on his one suit. My grandmother ironed his white shirt and helped him put on a tie. That election day was one of his best ever. The entire family were factory workers, laborers, union guys, Chicago Democrats to the man. They would have helped fix up your church.

Sounds like your grandparents had the good character not to sneak in illegally.

They weren’t forced to, in those times. My great grand parents, too. Take a break from being a jerk.

Coward bob says: “They weren’t forced to, in those times. My great grand parents, too. Take a break from being a jerk.”

Immigrants were not FORCED to enter legally?? WTF does that even mean.
There was a process and civility in place at that time that people actually honored and expected. Imagine that. There is documentation that reflects the legal standards at that time.

Take a break from being stupid.

WTF it means is many of those coming from Central America are desperately fleeing gang violence and drug cartels. Families applying for asylum at the border, as our system legally allows, have had their children ripped from their arms. You think everyone landing at Ellis Island had gone thru a lengthy legal process before just showing up? Legal standards and quotas were more relaxed for our forefathers, especially if you were Northern European. Now, unfortunately for them, the immigrants are brown and the Trumpsters are worried about the disappearing whiteness of ‘Murica.
And you were a jerk for taking Richard’s homage to his immigrant ancestors, a respectful comment to Dave’s respectful post, and making a snarky comment a la fact-free Faux News. You think desperate people at our border lack character?
Let’s see if you can take a break from the name-calling. The petty insults make you sound like any other right wingnut high on InfoWars. You used to be better than that.

    Hey cowardly bob,
Glad you have the courage to surface despite ducking me calling you out.

One can utter an ethnic/racial slur without being a racist. For example, I could label you a sanctimonious honky cornfed bird turd cracker without harboring animus/prejudice towards whites collectively. Barr’s comment is purposefully degrading to VJ but not per se a racist remark according to Webster, but is according to the Lefty definition I have posted elsewhere on this board.

In the tradition of ignoble Jeff Simpson; are you calling me a f-ing stupid racist for explaining this to you?

Answer the question and credibly back it up. Otherwise stay off this blog.

Batty, what are you babbling about? “One can utter an ethnic/racial slur without being a racist.” Really? She didn’t mean it? You defend it? You’ve “called me out?” No, I haven’t answered your “question” because it’s nonsensical. You’re sounding mighty foolish here. As for labeling it “f-ing stupid racist”… Rosanne was and you’re trying to defend her with semantics. If the shoe fits… I also doubt it’s your place to tell me to stay off this blog.

        Nice deflection coward.
Not willing to address the difference between a slur and racism.
Oh I see; you were referring to Barr and not me; yeah right.
        Go away you intellectual coward.

No deflection, you’re just wrong. Racial slurs are uttered by racists. Calling VJ the product of apes is racist (long history there). It’s not complicated. You claiming Rosanne did nothing wrong reflects poorly on you. Try to respond without insults and calling me names, if you’re able. (See how I just did that? Can you do it? Your arguments must not be very good, if you can’t.)

    Nice try coward bob,
One can utilize a racial slur to insult someone without holding the same opinion of the race collectively as I already explained. What is going on here is that you possess neither the humility or character to admit when you are wrong and that you called me a “f-ing stupid racist” when your emotions got the better of you.
    Grow up.

You can call me a sanctimonious honky blah, blah, blah without harboring racial animus towards whites…as long as you’re white. It’s like blacks calling each other by the “N-word.” It’s OK to them, mostly, as long as you’re black. But if you’re not? It means something different. How much do I need to spell this out for you old guys? White Rosanne called black VJ the product of apes, a time-worn racial insult to blacks. It was racist. Rosanne deserved the sh*t-storm she created. Defending her is…poor.

bobo still unable to differentiate between a slur and racism while trying to muddy the issue claiming I am defending Barr by explaining the difference.
I originally brought this up because the term racist is hurled about so often and inaccurately these days.
People obviously don’t know the definition, just like you bobo when you called me a f-ing stupid racist.

God bless David. My grandpa got to Madison from Italy just in time to be a combat engineer in WWI. He hung his Brit style helmet on his work shop wall. His son had the same job in Patton’s Third Army and hung his GI helmet next to his Dad’s.
    God bless America.

So why are you “god blessing David” for something your grand father did.? I’ve got a pic of my old man standing next to a sign that says “Buried 25 Japs” and the date. He limped around on a wounded leg till he died. David and you had nothing to do with it. If my old mam was told to follow the orders of some fat, draft-dodging douche he would have shot the fool. You, on the other hand, will follow like a dog sniffing a trail of pee.

What does it cost you for me to wish anyone well?
My grandad had good reason to love this country and taught this by the example of living a productive and grateful life.
God bless America and thankfully, its now getting better every day so God bless our president, our flag, our borders, our beliefs.

Wrong again smart guy as you play the race card. Typical Lefty tactic.
The concern is inadequate border security allowing in undesirables along with over burdening our social services, education, and health care.
You continuously criticize how Trump is handling the broken immigration situation but never offer solutions.
How about you put that over sized brain of yours to work towards something constructive for a change and enlighten us with your solution to immigration.

Almost threw up reading your phony outrage about baby Richie’s “homage” and my response.
I must say; you are talented troll.

Not snarky fool, but rather pointing out that Ellis Island immigrants respected the process as opposed to illegally entering. Your “desperate people at our border” characterization implies you are sitting in on the interviews and have first hand knowledge of the life situations of those attempting to enter. Truth is you’re clueless. Pics on TV don’t count.

So, you were sitting at Ellis Island to witness the legal process? Pretty silly position to take, Batty.
The reality you righties refuse to accept is that immigrants (legal and illegal) are a net benefit for the US. They do the work in our society your white privileged butt would never consider doing. They don’t suck up social services; the illegal ones live in the shadows, are frequently exploited by employers and don’t vote, yet they still pay taxes. Their crime rate is lower than native born Americans. I know you’ll refuse to believe any of this – it sure isn’t covered by Faux or Breitbart – but it’s all true. And before you make your typical demand: do your own research.

When people do genealogy trees or just search for relatives they can find them listed on the immigration rolls because they entered legally. You just continue not to address the illegal immigration problem in a constructive way, complain ad nauseum, and never offer solutions. Typical Lefty.

Quoting head lines and talking points from MSNBC/CNN is unsatisfactory and inaccurate.

And btw bobo; one U.S. citizen who is raped, murdered, assaulted, molested, abused, tortured, mutilated, pimped, kidnapped, etc. by an illegal is one to many.
Not sure why you defend illegal immigration.

Victor Davis Hansen is a classicist historian with a brilliant take on our modern world. He commutes from an almond farm near Fresno and the second poorest county in America, to the Hoover Institute at Stanford in Palo Alto, the second richest county in America where a 1500 sq. ft. house lists for $1.75M and sells for $2.25M.
I lived twenty five miles south of Palo Alto from 1993 to 1999 and can attest that every statement ABob makes on immigration is false. I heard Nancy Pelosi say them by rote and number of times when she was still in her right mind.
People that break the law by being here in the first place don’t worry about car insurance, dog vaccinations, pulling any kind of permit, waste disposal niceties etc.
California has 25% of its inhabitants in poverty, ranks 49th in school testing and has the worst roads, highest electricity and gas prices and is becoming hellish outside its coastal enclaves.
Now comes Gavin Newsome to do for the state what he did to San Francisco.
Go to California and see ABobs utopia.
