Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

Booze, cocaine, and a cocked and loaded firearm taken off the streets

Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do …? Part 2:

From Police Chief Mike Koval’s daily blog for this Sunday, August 13 (days are not individually linked):

8)  EAST:  Adult Arrested Person – 8:23 p.m.  Team of MPD officers assigned as part of the Violence Reduction Plan contact two individuals in a vehicle that was not legally parked in the 3000 block of Darbo Drive and is similar to a vehicle called in earlier to 911 with information provided that an occupant was seen waving a gun. Upon contact, passenger in the vehicle (AAM, 25 year old) has an open container of alcohol and takes off running from the vehicle. While officers are chasing the passenger on foot, he tosses a gun into the bushes. After a short foot pursuit he is caught by officers and found to be in possession of 16 grams of cocaine; multiple bags. The handgun was recovered; a Walther .380, loaded (including one in the chamber, and the hammer was cocked back). Charges for possession with intent to deliver, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, and a parole violation.

Folks, the Chief is working Sundays! It is worth asking:

  • How can we follow up to make sure the Sheriff keeps these people in jail, not out on monitoring?
  • How can we make sure the DA prosecutes these people and doesn’t mess up again…..?
  • How can we make sure the judges sentence any guilty individuals to more than minimum time to help keep our community safe?

Arresting people as part of the Violence Reduction Plan is only a small part of the process. But it’s a start. Many police officers have told me they’re tired of the revolving door.

Meanwhile, kudos to Ald. Paul Skidmore as quoted in WI State Journal Saturday:

Some believe we should solve this with social programs, that the police should stay out of it. … The City Council is the problem. The other things are not working and the bad guys know this. The actions of and inactions of the City Council are enabling them.

Notice how silent police-basher Madame Brenda Konkel (and her Progressive Dane cohorts on and off the Madison Common Council) are these days?

  1. All the while Mayor Soglin shows NO INTEREST, NO CONCERN, NO CARE to hire 30 more desperately needed police officers! Mayor Soglin shows NO INTEREST, NO CONCERN, NO CARE about addressing the ongoing emergency detention crises that pulls 300 plus police officers off Madison streets every year that sends them away many times eight or more hours. Madison media will not speak ill of this mayor for his poor judgement while the city suffers.Madison mayor can’t even reply to the concerns of his citizens, listen to citizens, HE does as HE wants like HE is God and King. He is not of the people. He acts more like his hero, Fidel Castro.

You said it and it’s worth repeating especially in light of this terrible mayor and city council, the Chief is working Sundays! It is worth asking:

This blog has harsher words for the city council of a town with an incredibly high quality of life than it does for the white supremacists who went about destroying a similarly great city over the weekend. Watching Republicans and conservatives stay silent their president light the world on fire is an indication of the morality of the right, as represented by this blog.

Dave! Where are you on this? Your silence is concerning.

Contrived Morality on the left. When did the entire world start on fire? I have not seen the smoke yet. So cops stood down while 2 nasty opposing forces clashed. Then an absolute evil, DB, got in his car and tried to kill as many people as possible. I did not see a pardon for that person. Did you…???

The strange thing is the perpetually offended claim the President backed the White Supremacist group. Wrong, never once did he call out and say that this is a good thing. I think he called out both sides as being extremist, ugly and bad and had no place in America. Which I agree with on its merits.

Oh he waited too long to answer, his answer was not your kind of answer, he was too short in his answer, blah blah blah. horse puckey.

David Blaska, you know he tries to enjoy life as short as it is. It is possible he is not around to blog. Here’s to David Blaska. Return with fire and fury.

Nazi leader Richard Spencer and former Klan leader David Duke are THRILLED with the President’s reaction. Doesn’t that tell you something?

I find it more than a little ironic that the left is embracing the tactic of iconoclasm, which has had a less than stellar history. Puritans during England’s Civil War smashed statues of saints in churches because they were convinced they were doing God’s work. In the 1960s, Mao unleashed the Red Guards, who destroyed symbols of the old Imperial regime, including many priceless works of art. They were doing their god’s work. In pre-9/11 Afghanistan, the Taliban dynamited an ancient image of Buddha carved into a mountainside. They were doing Allah’s work.Today we have the anti-Confederate iconoclasts of the left seeking to obliterate a piece of history they find distasteful, employing a tactic favored by–drumroll, please!–Nazis (real, not neo). In the 1930s, when the Party declared modern art “Jewish” and “degenerate,” Nazi zealots destroyed troves of paintings, sculptures, and books deemed anti-Aryan.

It must be exhilarating to tear down a statue that you’ve convinced yourself embodies nothing but racism and hatred, but aligning yourself with history’s iconoclasts seems to me a pretty risky business. What happens when the monuments to the famous heroes and generals have disappeared? There are hundreds of towns in the South with monuments to the common soldiers of the Confederacy, who were far too poor to own slaves. I suspect that the citizens of those towns would be less accommodating of efforts to erase a part of their history than those in privileged liberal enclaves like Charlottesville and Durham.

Those who efface history want us to be ignorant of it. We must ask ourselves why.
